  1. It can be a transfer addiction for many people. Your Dr just wanted you to be aware of it.
  2. @@sassyfrass23 - Congrats!! It is the beginning for a new life for you! For what it's worth, I had bypass and only stayed in the hospital one night (barely 24 hours), so unless your surgeon is just very very cautious, you could get to go home after only 1 night!
  3. Oh mine may very well be an addiction.... And I have bought and worn more jewelry too! I never used to even bother with earrings and now I don't leave the house without earrings, necklace, watch and bracelet. I still have at least one more closet clean out too but for now I am well stocked - for winter that is. Watch out summer time clothing!
  4. @@reree6898 & @@Babbs - I was thinking the same thing about the results! Well at least on the girl. Not as much on the guy. Those surgeons definitely need to work on contouring / sculpting.
  5. @@Elode -- I want to know what that "best answer" thing is too. I have seen it (albeit rarely) on a few other posts and often though that no, in fact, that was not the best answer. Maybe @AlexBrecher can tell us.
  6. RIght? I mean why would that guy go from MI to Austin, TX for surgeons who clearly are not experts as this? And did you just see his stomach which he said is swelling? That looked very odd to me....
  7. @@JamieLogical - Ooh perfect!! You have already been there and been through it so you could be our guide! @@Elode is a nurse, so we would have that going for us. I have no special skills I am afraid. As many times as I have been to Mexico AND live in Texas AND took 4 years of Spanish in high school, I still can't speak Spanish. Well, I can understand some and can speak some words (I find that am much more fluent with alcohol. Wonder what pain meds would do for my Spanish? )
  8. @@Daveo - Heck no!! Those surgeons appear to be hacks PLUS I would NEVER (no matter how much free surgery or how much they paid me) be able to show that skin on TV! How about you? If you were at goal (which still am not either), would you be game?
  9. @@Elode - I still say we need to work on a group discount / girls trip to Mexico! Who's in - @@Babbs? @@Djmohr? And don't worry @@Elode, I will have a drink for you. (Water likely, but still.... )
  10. AHHHH! I'm missing it! I cant seem to remember when it comes on. Tuning in now (even though I keep saying I am not going to watch anymore )
  11. Try Poshmark.com You can search by size and negotiate prices and some of the prices are very low - I just got some cute dresses for vacation.
  12. @@Elode - SO excited for you! Not sure which doctor you consulted in Tulsa but I recall a post a long time ago from @@OKCPirate recommending an excellent doctor in OK (I think with an office in Tulsa). I don't remember the name now though. Maybe he will see this and let you know. @@JamieLogical - So glad you weighed in. I know you have had great experience in Mexico and was hoping you would give dr name and other info to @@Elode. @@NewSetOfCurves - I am SUPER excited you used this doctor and the info you provided. Did you do brachioplasty? Your arms and abs look AMAZING! I looked at Dr. Fisher's site last week after you posted about him. I really like the info he provided. You would think living in Dallas I could find a great surgeon here, but I like the idea that Dr. Fisher seems to be such an artist specifically with weight loss patients. You mentioned you went home 2 days later. Did you not have to go in for follow-ups? I guess that was my concern - driving 5 hours for a follow-up visit too early in to the process. I like the Mexico idea, but I just don't think my family would go for it and couldn't take off for 2 weeks for sure. At least if I was in San Antonio, I could fly them back very cheaply if I needed to stay in SA for longer. Lastly, @@AvaFern, I am so glad you said you were able to care for yourself so much after these surgeries. I live alone and I have amazing family who will help, but I get tired of them being here. I have cared for myself (after 2 or 3 days) after RNY, rotator cuff surgery, hysterectomy and more, so it sounds like I might be able to handle this after a couple of days too. Plus I am starting a new job on March 1 where I will be working from home and it sounds like barring unforeseen circumstances, I can likely work from home (at least part-time) after a week off. Sorry @@Elode to hijack your post, but I am started to get excited about this and I am not even at goal! I am getting a little ahead of myself but all this great info has really helped! PS - I am going to Cancun on vacation Feb. 22-29. If you can bump up your surgery, I can be there to help take care of you!
  13. My NUT (post-op) says I just need equal to or less than my protein. Some NUTs allow greater carbs than protein. I have always tried to stay around 50-55g carbs and done well with that. I am recently trying to increase my calories to closer to 1000 and it breaks down as 105g protein / 75g carbs and 30g fat. I don't always stick to that (I tend to go over on fat and less carbs).
  14. It shouldn't. They hurt (as you know by now), but they are fairly common. The only thing I can see slowing you down is if you have a one that is too large to be passed and is blocking something - even then likely not an issue. I have a long history of stones (in fact passed a rather large one the day after my bypass surgery ). I will tell you that there is some speculation that they could possibly get worse after surgery, but mine actually seem to be better (oddly). Even with, my endocrinologist and urologist were very happy for me to pursue WLS without worry. Some people have one incidence with them and then never have them again...
  15. Regular visits to therapists, food log and this site!
  16. @@Elode - I don't know. Apparently MUCH cheaper though...
  17. @@Elode - YES! I am too scared to go to Mexico alone but I was thinking last week, there are 4 or 5 of us that could go together!
  18. @@Elode - I am so excited for you!! Can't wait to follow you through the journey! I went on Dr. Peter Fisher's website the other day (I think it was after @@NewSetOfCurves posted something about him. I haven't stopped thinking about it since and how I can get away with going to San Antonio for my plastics. Since I am in Dallas, I think I can pull that off - only 4-5 hours away by car.) ANYWAY, he has a downloadable "book" or instructions on his site that I found really informative. I know you aren't looking to go to him, but the info might be of use. I saved it to my computer so I could go back and reference it later. Good luck!!
  19. @@Briardlady - For what it's worth, that drove me nuts at first to not have it completely accurate but now I have finally settled on doing the best I can. So for example, I wouldn't specify McDonalds bacon. I would just type in bacon and estimate the amount. Same with shrimp. I like when I get it more accurate but the perfection of it was paralyzing me and it was better (for me) if I just made my best guess when I couldn't do it exact and went with that. It has worked for me. Having said that, it appears you have lost a considerable amount of weight and are almost at goal, so whatever you are doing is working!
  20. Same thing happening to me. Men appear to be afraid to say anything - especially older men. Don't take it personally.
  21. Yay! Great NSV! Congrats!
  22. Have you made the Ricotta Bake yet? It is really good. I ate a lot of refried Beans with cheese melted on top. That was pretty much my go to. Other than that, I ate mashed up avocado; 1/2 container of greek yogurt with 1/2 scoop of vanilla Protein powder; sugar free chocolate pudding snack with 1/2 scoop of chocolate Protein powder mixed in; hummus (just with a spoon); pimiento cheese (a Southern thing if you have never heard of it - also was able to mix in a little unflavored protein powder). I don't necessarily have any recipes for you (other than referring you to the Ricotta Bake). I just ate a lot of things that I put together on my plate that I could tolerate.
  23. Check out swimsuitsforall.com. They have all sizes and have a lot of those cute high-waist retro type bottoms. Plus you can buy them as seperates which is great. I am able to buy a couple of bottoms in black and brown or navy and then buy all kinds of tops that match then you can have different suits.
