Worried about post-op depression
I've been on meds for depression since I was 21. I'm now 56, and have suffered with several bouts of major depression episodes. I'm stable on my psych meds now, and have been stable for about two years. I'm worried this will affect the effectiveness of the meds or that the surgery will cause a major depression episode. I've been told exercise is very effective after surgery and will help with depression. I just hope I remain stable. I plan to discuss with my psych before surgery, just wondering about some of your experiences.

Going back to work?
I am concerned about only being able to take 2 weeks off work after surgery. I haven't been there a year, so FMLA doesn't apply. Luckily I work 24 hours a week only. I'm so afraid of going back that soon and being so tired. I do sit at a desk for the most part, but still concerned...

Pain in legs ankles and feet
Thanks. I'm wearing a compression sock currently, called a foot angel. It is helping some, but was hoping the loss of weight would also help..

Literally sitting in bed crying right now
I'm scheduled for Oct 29th but already losing sleep worrying about the changes. I'm 56 and worried about being put to sleep and how I will handle all the life changes. I read a horror story and really freak out. I know in my heart and head, however, that I have to do this to save my life. Try meditation. It often helps me when I'm stressed. Deep breathing...

Why did I do this to myself?
I'm so sorry to hear this, but believe and hope things will get better for you. Please keep me posted, as I'm scheduled for the surgery October 29th

I'm experiencing ankle pain in both ankles too. I am really hoping that losing weight will alleviate the pain.

Swallowing Pills
My hubby came home with regular pain pills to take along with his nexium and wellbutrin. He never crushed anything. I hope I will be able to swallow pills after mine.

Surgery date set!
My surgery will be Oct 29 with my pre-op Oct 14. Now I'm excited and nervous. So dreading the liquid diet. Hope I will continue to have all your support. I'm going in to have the bypass, but may end up having sleeve if my adhesions are too massive. I'm in NC and will be having surgery in Hickory.

At over four months, found out I was taking my supplements all wrong...
I also will be taking my 3 antidepressants in addition to my bariatric medications. I hope I'm able to d/c the cholesterol meds and Metformin. I'm really concerned how in the world will I get all these meds in?

Depression and weight
I have battled depression since I was 21. I'm now 56. I'm concerned about being depressed after the surgery, although my depression is controlled well right now with medication. I know that losing weight will not cure my chemical imbalance, just hoping it will give me more self confidence. Did you have to adjust your psychotropic meds after surgery?

New clothes
Has anyone on here ever went out and bought some new clothes before they've had their surgery, just anticipating what size they think they might be? I bought several items today on clearance for next year!
