April Sleevers! Where are you at in your Journey?
Sleeved 4/27/15 weighed in at 255.7, current weight 219.2. Slow loser and happy! (I hope that means I won't need plastics ☺️) I'm only getting in about 3oz of puréed consistency food, less if regular consistency. Therefore, I drink most of my Protein.

Has anyone used Vitamin Patches?
I use the multivitamin patch from patch md. Just had lab results drawn and my NUT says they are ok to use. Unfortunately, while my iron levels are good, the iron binding results showed Not enough was binding so I have to take iron and vitamin c.

Why Not Bypass?
I chose the sleeve because I didn't want all the cutting and rearranging of my insides. I also didn't want malabsorption issues. With the sleeve, they removed a significant portion of my stomach and the portion that made me hungry. I haven't had any malabsorption issues, my GERD is gone and I don't have dumping issues. I'm losing slowly (about 3pounds per week). And I'm happy with that. Hopefully I won't have to have a tummy tuck because of all the loose skin.

Scrambled Eggs!
I'm on Puree stage too. Have you tried Egg Beaters? Any tips on making them tasty? I'd hate to throw out the carton after 1 try.

Sleeved April 28
I was sleeved 4/27 too. With a hernia repair. I had edema from the hernia repair so I couldn't drink anything more than 5cc St a time and that still gave me gas. Then I had low blood sugar so they allowed me to drink full sugar apple juice and Jello (no dumping). Today I drank 2 ounces of Protein shake (too much) so I'm scaling back to make that my goal for today. I'm so happy to be drinking protein! For the pain, I try to ignore it. The pain Meds they gave me in the hospital were too strong and didn't agree with me. They made me nauseated and vomit. I use a heating pad or Tylenol for pain first, then go stronger if I need to.

New Tummy...and much to do about nothing?
I'm glad it's normal. I'm 3.5 days post op and the grumbling started today. It hurts when I'm standing and feels weird lying down. Could it also be a sign we're hungry?

Surgery Tomorrow! Any Words of Wisdom?
I'm having my surgery tomorrow too! Good luck to everyone! I'm looking forward to this next chapter in my life and reclaiming me! As I did laundry today, all I could think of was I don't need these clothes anymore and how weird it will be not to shop in the Women's dept anymore! How single digit clothes will be my new norm. I was also thinking of what NSV goals I want to set for myself...having a hard time with that one. I haven't let my weight or joint pain stop me (last year I climbed both a waterfall and an inactive volcano). My new motto is "be fearless and fear less!" We've got this!!

Bariatric apps to help track food/water timing?
There's an app called bariatric timer my NUT told me about, when you eat something tap the bagel and when you drink, tap the wine glass and a countdown clock appears telling you when you can eat or drink next.

I'm glad I started today, get the kinks out. @@samuelsmom, you were absolutely right! I could do full liquids on my day off, so I know I won't be able to do it at work.

Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)
@@samuelsmom I'm gonna do the full liquid, with chicken Soup for lunch and maybe a hardboiled egg or yogurt for a snack. The diet I'm going to do calls for 5 shakes per day for the full liquid, about 800kcal/day. I figure with the yogurt or egg, I'll still be below 1000kcal/day. I was gonna take 4-5 weeks off. My boss and about 1/2 my coworkers know, so when I go back, I shouldn't have a problem with not lifting. I feel it's better for them to know instead of getting a funky attitude when I can't lift or push someone.

- 2 week diet...
Starting 2 week diet on Sunday, was anyone hungry while at this stage? How does one combat this?- Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)
Hi all, I've been a nurse 9.5 yrs. I work on on a busy comprehensive medicine unit, 12.5 hours/day shift. We care for ID, Med-Surg, Onc, Cards (no drips), and Ortho patients. On a daily basis we usually have 6 patients but can have as many as 8 or 9 with discharges and admissions. I'm getting sleeved on 4/27 and am going to start my 2 wk diet on Sunday. My greatest concern pre-op is being hungry and eating regular food. Post-op, when I return to work, I'm concerned about not eating or drinking enough. Any tips for success?- 2 week diet...
- YOLI or other diet programs
I did yoli in 2013, and pre-surgery, it was unsustainable for me. The pills gave me palpitations, and the dietary restrictions were hard to maintain. Theoretically, following yoli post sleeve should work, but keep in mind it's about $340.00/month- Gastric sleeve at NYP Columbia in NYC?
Hi all, I'm having my surgery with Dr. Bessler at the end of the month.- Anyone from Washington Heights/Inwood?
I'm in Washington Heights- Any April Sleevers?
