No more fears
I feel great! my liquids are going down easier and easier already, I can do about 2 ounces per 10 minutes now so Im very happy! I do feel very hungry which I guess I didn't expect Hoping that eases once I get to purees next week, still on Clear Liquids.

Things you wish someone had told you?
I wish someone had told me that the leak test was no big deal AT ALL, I was so afraid of it (that swallowing the relatively large amount of liquid all at once would hurt or make me sick) it was about 3/4 of an ounce and went down just fine.and was actually quite pleasant because I hadn't even had an ice chip in something like 27 hours. Huge yes to the chap stick, heating pad, extension cord and phone charger, earbuds, a notepad, a favorite pillow from home, I also brought a small personal fan because I am always hot, that is going away quickly since surgery but I did use it the first two days and it felt lovely..

Post op thirst
No gum! but you will be able to brush your teeth & swish water, it wasn't pleasant but it is over quickly. Maybe you will be one of the lucky ones who can have ice chips after surgery!

No weight loss 5 days posts op
They say we can gain from all the iv fluids. What do you think you could be doing wrong at this stage? Just come as close to meeting your Fluid and Protein goals as you can, that's really all we can do right now huggs

South Jersey area sleeve buddies
@@Elizabethe Glickel you are going to do great! Its not a picnic in the park but it just wasn't THAT bad either, very manageable. There are some great nurses there, Robert and Jill are RN's and the sweetest one ever is Nurse Assistant Dayse (reminds me of Salma Hyack). I had a BIG fear of being able to tolerate my liquids and so far it has been good. Just start off SLOW and build up.

No more fears
Hi everybody! I'm 2 days post op, got home about 4 hours ago. It is soooo wonderful to have the surgery behind me and just focus on moving forward from here. No more HUGE fears My liquids are going down nicely, I can do about an ounce every 10 minutes. I have had some broth, crystal light decaf tea (1/2 strength) and a Protein shake since getting home. Happy to answer any questions about my surgery experience. MANY thanks to all of those who have been so helpful to me!

I thought I would share this idea
I also did this with a nice beef stew and I made a very mild chili and froze about 28 cubes of that as well.

Too easy ?
I had my consult the first week of Jan, was told what I had to do a far as clearance (psyche, 2 NUT classes, cardio & pulmonary testing and an endoscopy) We picked a surgery date that day & I got crackin on getting the appts & tests scheduled. I will be sleeved Tuesday morning, so the whole process was less than 8 weeks. I feel VERY lucky that it was so easy.

Calories intake 3 months out of Gastric Sleeve Surgery
I am looking at my NUT plan from week 8 on, and it says 1000-1200 calories per day. That seems way high to me.

Week 7 Post-op: Still can't eat most stuff.
Were you given a timeline of when you could move to full liquids, purees, soft foods and then "normal" diet? If so when were you cleared for the normal diet? I also received very thorough "sample" diets for each stage including a list of food that generally are not tolerated at each stage. If you received this paperwork I would recommend taking another look at it and if you didn't receive it I would call the NUT and get some advise!! Best of luck to you!

Nervous! Surgery 2/23
I am the day after you, I TOTALY understand. I am trying to visualize a positive, comfortable outcome and think of all the things I have to look forward to. I am browsing clothes in smaller sizes on ebay, shopping for a new scale today, hitting the drugstore for Biotine mouth spray and a few other things. Best of luck to you, its going to be great!

Review I did not want to read
He just sounds like a humble man to me, without the inflated ego that some surgeons may have. That comment wouldn't bother me if it came from my surgeon, but YOU have to feel comfortable.

Feb 23rd surgery date
I am the 24th. I have all my protein (Unjury, very good) broths, decaf crystal lights, sugar free jello & ice pops, my bariatric chewable vitamins, a food journal & a fit bit, to name a few things :-)

Cheated every day of 7 day pre op diet
My pre op diet includes 4 eight ounce protein shakes per day (at least two made with skim milk) and then AT LEAST 6 servings from the following: 1/2 cup grits, oatmeal or cream of wheat 8 ounces vegetable juice 3 ounces of grilled steamed or poached chicken, fish or egg whites 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce 5-6 ounces greek yogurt, LF such as dannon light & fit greek (my favorite and only 80 cal) 1 cup raw veg/lettuces, FF dressing SF jello or ice pops and of course the obligatory 64 ounces of fluids My surgeon requires BMI's under 45 to do this for 1 week pre op. BMI's over 45 do it for 2 weeks. 14 days of just liquids, wow that would be so hard for me with the "hungry girl" tummy I currently have!! I just started my diet today but have been really "winding down" for weeks now. I can do my pre op NP but I really feel for those who are on the much stricter pre op!!! Warm HUGGGGS and YOU CAN DO IT!!
