  1. I'm almost 9 weeks post op VSG, with hiatal hernia repair, and I'm still having trouble eating most things. I'm barely getting 2 premier protein shakes and maybe a light baby bell cheese or a small amt of chicken in. I'm still getting that pressure/pain in my chest which slows me down from drinking and eating. My surgeon wasn't concerned when I saw him 2 weeks ago but the nutritionist seemed more worried when I saw her this week. Has anyone else experienced this? What is everyone able to eat at 9 weeks?

First Day of Pre-Op! Anyone else?

I'm on day 2. My pre-op is two weeks of Optifast and clear liquids, crystal light, sugar free jello , ice pops, etc. Day 1 was really rough today is better and I'm hoping what they say about it getting much easier my day 4.

    February 17th anyone?

I'm February 10th too! Started my 2 week pre-op diet yesterday
  4. I'm scheduled for surgery on Feb 10 th. I have two young children, ages 7 and 4. Trying to decide what and how much I should tell. I'm going to be in the hospital for 2 days so I have to tell them something and my son equates being on the hospital as being very sick. I'm trying to get healthier for them but their not quite olde enough to understand all of it. Any advice as to what to say to little ones?
  5. Only a few close people to me know that I'm planning to have this surgey, my husband, parents, sister, my boss and one close friend at work. Well the rumors have started at work with a few people because I've had so many dr appts and have cut out caffeine. They think I'm pregnant! I have 2 wonderful kids but I waited until I was done having kids to start the process for surgery. I have my clearance appt next week and looking at a February surgery date. Problem is there boss so I really didn't want to talk about it too much at work but I also don't want people to think I'm pregnant. Any advice? Anyone in a management position and how to deal with it and your staff?

So excited! Got my surgery date...Feb 10th! Went for my final clearance appt Friday and they called me Tuesday(yesterday) to schedule my surgery. The insurance approval was much faster that I expected but I'm not complaining. Start my pre op on Jan 27 th?
  7. My final pre-surgery appt with my surgeon is coming up and I'm making my list of questions to ask, but I'm sure I'm not thinking of something. What questions did you ask your surgeon?
  8. Thanks for the info! Hope your pre-op is going well!

    February 17th anyone?

I don't have my exact surgery day but they said I should be right around valentines day so I'll most likely be doing the pre-op diet at the same time. My surgeon requires 2 weeks of only Optifast. What is your pre-op requirement?
  10. I will not miss trying to find short sleeve t-shirts that don't look like rubber bands around my arms. I will not miss kankles. I will not miss being at the doctors office getting weighed and having the nurse set the scale to 200 and having to tell her it needs to start at 250. I will not miss the acrobatic feat of going through a turnstile. I will not miss every pair of pants gapping in the back. I will not miss the fear of waiting for the day that one of my kids friends saying something about their 'fat mom' and them be embarrassed of me being their mom. I will not miss constantly feeling fat all the time around my skinny friends. Constantly worrying if someone is judging my weight. I will not miss making excuses to my kids at waterparks and amusement parks because I'm afraid my hips won't fit. Only has to happen once to never want to experience that again.

    The rumors have started!

I guess it could have been worse...they could have thought I had some horrible disease. And galadriel535 your right, it will be pretty obvious when I'm on vacation for 2 weeks and come back looking different. I guess I wasn't expecting people to start talking before I even had the surgery. There are only a few woman at work that would possibly notice right away, I have mostly guys working for me who probably wouldn't notice if I had purple hair.
  12. Dr Peters is my surgeon too. No surgery yet, it's looking like I'll be scheduled in February so you're about a month ahead of me. I have my final Nut class next Wed and they called yesterday and move my clearance appt to next Friday. How long after your clearance appt did you get your surgery date?
  13. Mldavis1969, you're in Delaware too? Are you going through Chrias?
  14. My surgeon requires 2 week of Optifast before my surgery. And advice of the flavors (chocolate, vanilla or strawberry) I should get or any I should avoid.

    Any February Sleevers

I'm getting anxious, nervous and excited! I had a wonderful Christmas with my family but I'm actually tired of all of the food being around. I've spent almost 6 month changing what I eat and drink and the past 4 days have been rough. I kicked caffeine completely 2 month ago and I found myself drinking regular coffee at Christmas breakfast. And as I'm eating the homemade pasta for Christmas dinner I just kept thinking things are going to be drastically different next year, but in a good way. If it weren't for having my two small kids and husband I would have thrown out every cookie by now. :-) I have my final nut class in a week and a half and my clearance appt in 2 and a half weeks. Now that Xmas is over its full steam ahead. They're telling me I should be scheduled about 4 weeks from my clearance so I'm looking around valentines day. Got all my final bloodwork back and the coordinator said all looks good, just don't gain weight, and the insurance shouldn't have any problems. I've lost about 10lbs, hopefully Xmas won't interfere with that so I should be good!

    Any delaware sleevers?

How was the process after your final clearance appt? Mine is scheduled for Jan 14th and then everything will be sent to my insurance co. How long was it until you got approved, appt with surgeron and surgery date? I'm getting anxious and excited.

    Any delaware sleevers?

Hi everyone...I'm also from Delaware. I'm on track to have my surgery in February with Dr Peters. My clearance appt is schedules in January. Was anyone's surgery at Wilmington Hospital? How was your experience?
  19. It took me about 4 days to feel normal again. I took excedrin tension headache because it has some caffeine in it. It took some of the edge off but I still felt like crap for a few days. I have to say I do feel better now that I'm not drinking any caffeine. I don't find myself yawning all morning or being so tired all morning. Hang in there. You'll feel better in a couple days. I do still 'crave' coffee. I think it's the habit of walking around with a hot cup of something. Decaf has been doing the trick. Good luck!

I feel the same way! My insurance co required 6 months of nutrition classes so when I started in July it seemed so far away and now my final clearance appt is only a month away.

    February 2014 anyone?

I'm in Delaware right outside of Philadelphia. I've checked off everything except my Dec nutrition class and then my Jan nutrition class and my clearance appt. has anyone started trying any protein shakes? I just picked up a couple today to start trying to see what I'll like but if anyone has suggestions please share.

    February 2014 anyone?

I have my final nutrition class and clearance appointments early January so it's looking like my VSG will be in February. Would love to connect with those going through this at the same time I am. It's been a long way since my first surgical appt in July. I learned a lot, like I have a hiatal hernia, but thankfully I don't have sleep apnea. I felt like I spent the month of November at doctors but thinks are finally winding down. Hope everyone is as exciting as I am!
