What to expect right after surgery?
Cant keep a gal form her heels huh? LOL... Yall got me half scared shitless and half confident it wont be a big deal. I have had knee surgery, bicep surgery, a vasectomy and most recent shoulder surgery...The worst of them being the most recent which was the shoulder surgery. Not the pain level, that was totally tolerable, as I opted for the nerve block. However the nausea and vomiting til 3:30 in the morning bothered me the most. My main concern is not the pain but the bad reaction to the anesthesia causing vomiting and hurting myself..

Weight Lifting/ weight loss
Why are you even wasting your time offering explanations to this guy, he obviously knows more than everyone and has his mind made up in regards to weight training, let him figure it out on his own.

What to expect right after surgery?
As the title says, what do I expect immediately after waking up after surgery? What will I feel in my abdomen? What will it feel like to drink liquids when I wake up? What should I expect? I'm less than a week out now..

Weight Lifting/ weight loss
Any you are pigeon holing yourself with your ignorance in thinking lifting weights automatically means looking like Arnold or one of these roid heads. Its not what it means at all, it just means adding some muscle to your frame to support healthy living. And there ARE certainly skinny FAT people..You in fact can be 150lbs and look thin and be mostly body fat and skin. A glass can be half full but full of crap..You dont like to lift weights, fine we get it...But your comments are ignorant and make anyone who was thinking of doing resistance training automatically assume that they will get bulky or fat when the exact opposite is true.. In fact your lack of education on the topic and you commenting is actually reckless IMHO but thats just my opinion...

Weight Lifting/ weight loss
Weight training when done properly burns waaaaay more calories than straight cardio, period.. I dont want to be a muscle head, I just want to look like a man should look and retain a good portion of my strength and not feel weak and frail..Resistance training when done properly strengthens you joints and back and helps you burn more resting calories. Oh and muscle does NOT turn to fat, it is physically impossible. Without Protein the first thing your body would turn to for energy would be muscle which is actually easier to break down and use for energy than fat. So perhaps you will loose muscle then in the long term add fat if thats what he was referring to. There are skinny fat people believe it or not..And thats not why I want to loose weight, just so I can be fat but not weigh as much..Makes no sense to me..I want to lose and tone..Resistance training is the only thing that does that..

2 weeks to go, and I am really nervous...
Well Im actually down to 7 days to go. What is weird is my doctor did not put me on a pre-op diet, and only said do all Clear liquids the day before which will be next Sunday. Im gonna try and really cut down calories drastically this week... I guess I will be dropping down in weight then have to build up some muscle when I settle in. I dont think I will have an issue being able to supplement more than 64 grams of Protein a day and plan on eating 6 small meals a day once I get back in the gym.. I know I will lose strength but want to keep some of it.

2 weeks to go, and I am really nervous...
Question #1 what are "the slimes"??? Question #2 Only 1000 calories a day? do you have an active lifestyle on only 1000 calories? I was under the impression the average adult needs 1800-2500 a day.

2 weeks to go, and I am really nervous...
I certainly hope I will not regret doing it. How far out of surgery are you? When did it become more "normal" for you following the surgery? Im excited and nervous about this..I want to be the thin, sexy guy I was at one time in my life, i want to be able to do everything with my kids without my knees, back or legs hurting form carrying 300lbs.. I have gotten around pretty well at 280-290 but the older I get, the harder it is to work out and do physical things.. Funny thing is, Im a fairly healthy fat guy...

2 weeks to go, and I am really nervous...
Well 11 days to go and still nervous, but I also cant wait to get started on my road to recovering from basically being a food addict. I feel like shit after the disgusting foods I have consumed with the holidays and am glad that they are over. I have to think of this surgery as a one time "reset button" on the way I have been eating my whole life.. I just wish I could fast forward 4 months away and be well on my journey. I really hate getting surgeries and hospitals, they make me really nervous, Im usually OK with the recovery process, but the whole leading into the surgery gets me all crazy... Im also scared about changing something in my body so permanent...But I also know the alternative is to get fatter and fatter..

On a side note, CLEAN YOUR DRYER VENTS!
That is exactly what you need to clean out every few months apparently. Mine was clogged and backed up and all the lint was stuck inside the dryer..

On a side note, CLEAN YOUR DRYER VENTS!
Just sneaking a peak huh?

How much did you lose in Month 3?
More Protein. Protein is a metabolic booster in itself, so make sure to hit your protein goals.Ad some good fats, get your body used to burning fats for energy. Your body will eventually start turning to the fat to burn.
-
On a side note, CLEAN YOUR DRYER VENTS!
1) get out of the mens room!! LOL 2) are you cleaning just the lint trap or the Vent that goes to the outside? Cause apparently you are supposed to replace that flexible vent every few years.

On a side note, CLEAN YOUR DRYER VENTS!
I almost lost my house tonight as a result of being ignorant and not cleaning my dryer vents regularly. The ling clogged up and filled the bottom of my dryer and was catching fire. Luckily my wife caught it in time..Clean your vents people, dont be lazy!!! I must have removed 5 lbs of lint from the inside of my dryer.

Weight Lifting/ weight loss
You may technically gain weight on the scale or see it not move, but the more muscle you have the more fat you burn when working out and the more calories you burn while resting. The weight lifting actually does more for your metabolic rate than cardio. Lifting weights is the best exercise there is IMHO. Try doing a set of squats or leg presses and tell me how winded you get compared to walking on a treadmill. Plus your body will look better from the weight lifting. I would start with a medium weight, basic movement resistance training program followed by 25-30 minutes of some form of medium intensity cardio. I have lifted all my life and in recent months packed on more fat cause i was unable to lift as much due to a shoulder injury from martial arts... Dont look at the scale, you'll notice it mostly in your clothes fitment. Eat Protein right after your workout in the form of a recovery shake, and dont count it as a daily meal. Good luck and start light and basic.

Post op Diet questions?
Well not the immediate post op diet, Im pretty clear on that and have it in a pamphlet for my doctor. Im curious as to the long term diet, will I ever be able to consume in moderation the foods I enjoy so much now? Will I be able to eat pizza again or indulge in the occasional sweet like carrot cake? I know they say your taste changes and what not, and dont eat empty calories, but I still want to be able to enjoy the little things in life and not be miserable eating grilled chicken and a spoon full of veggies for the rest of my life without the occasional treat. I asked this of my doctor and he danced around the question and basically said, you really wont want to eat like that anymore once you start eating good. But I know eventually I will want a little taste of the good life... is it possible?
