I almost lost my house tonight as a result of being ignorant and not cleaning my dryer vents regularly. The ling clogged up and filled the bottom of my dryer and was catching fire. Luckily my wife caught it in time..Clean your vents people, dont be lazy!!!

I must have removed 5 lbs of lint from the inside of my dryer.

Oh my goodness! Well good thing you caught it! My dryer Has a warning light when the lint gets to be too much. I'm a fanatic about changing it every time though...bet you will be too now! Glad your safe!@@JerseyJules

2) are you cleaning just the lint trap or the Vent that goes to the outside? Cause apparently you are supposed to replace that flexible vent every few years.

What? Am I in the men's room? Seriously? Wth I still don't see that! If it the men's room then why in the heck is it posted under "recent topics" that's all I normally read or comment on! scary stuff!!! opened mine up a few weeks ago for some routine maintenance and also on a mission thinking I would find a treasure chest full of missing socks.... no dice. but I did clean it up a bit. what I need to do is clean the entire dryer vent line that leads to the outside. but I would need to go into the crawlspace and do that. it is in the 20's today, so I will put it on my spring cleaning list.

That is exactly what you need to clean out every few months apparently. Mine was clogged and backed up and all the lint was stuck inside the dryer..
