    Lower BMI'ers--2008!!!

I have a BMI of 32. I havehad 7 fills and have only a little restriction. I can still eat quite a bit. I was banded Feb.26th and have only lost 15 pounds. I was hoping for more than this. I have not lost a pound in the last 3 months

    Magic Number Of Cc's

I was banded in Feb. I have had 6 fills and can still eat quite a bit. I have 6.25cc's at this point and only feel a little restriction. I have not lost any weight since thefirst 15 pounds the first month out. I am wondering if this is going to work for me
  7. I just went in for my 4th fill today. I still feel very little restriction. I have 5cc now in a 10cc band. My doctor put 3cc in the day of surgery and 1cc in the first fill and after that he only does .5cc after that. From what I see most people feel that sweet spot around 7 cc or so but it is different for everyone.

    Any Upstater's (central NY)?

There are meetings at Cooperstown and Herkimer both through Bassett Healthcare. Herkimer is only 20 minutes from Utica. Call Tiffany at Bassett and she can tell you more. 607-547-3373

    Hello from New York!

I live in Central NY and I had a BMI of 36, by the time I had the surgery I was a 33. I have fibromylgia but I didn't have any of the other things they like to see wrong with people. My insurance covered it 100%. I don't think you have to worry about the insrance coving it with all the things you have wrong.

    I am on step 2 ....

My doctor did not require a pre-op diet. I am 20 days out and I'm eattng normal. It all depends on what your doctor wants you to do. Every doctors rules are different.

35 BMI will insurance cover it?

I had a BMI of 35 and by the time my surgery came I was a 33 and my insurance paid 100%. The only ailment I have is fibromylgia. I was a little surprised they paid but they did.

    This is hard

I use Spir-tein. You can get that at the health food store. They come in alot of flavors. You can also get protein power that is unflavored. I normally do a protein shake for breakfast and Spir-tein is by far alot better than any I have had. I havenever tried the medically supplied ones. Go to the health food store and talk with someone there they are a wealth of info

    Banded 03/03...

It is good to see that I must be normal for once. Today is the first day I have felt good. I also have been only comfortable in a recliner. I took the pain meds alot and Gas X strips they work miracles quickly. I heard how everyone was doing good the next day and thought I would be too but as you see we might be the rule rather than the exception. As far as food it got real hard until I called the doctors office and found out that 6 days after surgery I should be on regular food only blenderized. No more liquids thank GOD.

Today is my 8th day banded and also got the flu. My whole family has it now because we brought it home from the hospital with us. One of my nurses had it. The gas was real bad for me too but it stopped yesterday completely. I have alot of restriction. I can only eat about 4 ounces of food at a time. It is hard to get it in actuall I am not getting it all in. It is impossible at this point. I wish you well

    Question about surgery

I was banded 25 hours ago. The doctor usually requires you to stay over night but I was banded at 7:30am and by 4:00 I was on my way home. I am not sure about returning to work because I do not have a job. The only thing I am experiencing is gas so I have to walk alot and that helps.

    the Day b4 surgery

I am having surgery tomorrow too. There are alot of emotions going into this. I have 14 hours left of this life. Not sure what the new life is going to bring
  21. I have posted before but I wanted to let everyone know what was going on. I am due to be banded on Tuesday. Yesterday(Friday) The insurance said they denied me because of my weight. I weighed 206 when I went in for my first visit and was required to lose 10 pounds. When I did that I feel below the 35 BMI so I didn't qualify anymore. I was so mad that I had gone through 6 months of testing and did everything they wanted and then I didn't qualify because I had followed their requirements. Well anywyas the doctor had a talk with my insurance MVP and they changed their minds and aproved it again. The insurance company is required to go by your starting weight. Now I am a little nervous again. Can anyone tell me what they had on hand to eat when they came home from the hospital. I want to be prepared Thanks everyone Terry
  22. The whole process starts with the weight you are when you go to the first visit with the WLS team. MY BMI was 36. They required me to lose 10 pounds before the surgery, now my BMI is 33. I am due to have the surgery Tuesday. They do not take into consideration all you have lost. They will require you to lose at least 10 pounds from the weight you went to the first visit weighing. You do not want to lose anymore until you get your first weigh in.

    So glad...

i AM DUE TO BE BANDED IN 3 DAYS. I WEIGHTED 206 POUNDS AT THE START ALSO AND NOW i AM DOWN TO 194. IALSO HAVE NOT MUCH SUPPORT FROM HUSBAND, FAMILY OR FRIENDS. i HAVE BEEN USING THIS SITE TO KEEP ME GOING
  24. From what I understand with my doctor this is the procedure now as there is alot less slippage now. It is a good thing
  25. I am being banded next Tuesday and I am nervous. Can anyone give me any advise on what I can be doing before I go and what to expect in and after the hospital stay. I go back and forth on if I am going to go through with it because of the nervousness. Thanks for any help you can give
