WLS is an interest?!
I'm sorry you are going through this. From my perspective, it probably seems to him as though you signed up for a HUGE lifestyle change, but it has become a huge change for him as well. There is going to be resentment. It is a fact that divorce rate is higher post surgery, so I would assume it ends non-marital relationships as well. I can't tell you what to do, but I know from personal experience that your daughter is better off in a loving healthy environment with one parent than with two parents who want to kill each other. Good luck with all of this!

Protein powder help
I don't like the froth either. I normally throw it in the fridge for 10 minutes after blending to let it dissipate before drinking, or pour it over ice, which also helps kill the froth.

Seafood Veggie Medley
That sounds really good! Stupid liquid diet!

Boys
As a "boy" myself, I would definitely say that I think us guys tend to have more of a "live until I die" attitude. We are invincible, if only in our own minds. Beating him over the head with your new healthier lifestyle will most likely just make him resentful of you. He most likely feels that this is not what he signed up for when he became your "house spouse." I can't tell you what to do, but speaking as a male, he is not likely to suddenly change how he feels about the situation. I guarantee you that if you have had thoughts of leaving, he has too. Good luck with all of this!

Excellent news! Keep up the good work!

Protein powder help
I use a magic bullet blender, because I too hate the clumps! It works great for this application. You can do one cup at a time, drink it, give it a quick wash and it is ready to go next time. (I promise, I have no affiliation with the magic bullet company! Just sharing what works!)

I HAD MY SURGERY
Same experience here. I was absolutely miserable waking up from surgery. It was much worse than I had expected. I'm even told I had a few not so nice things to say about the whole thing, though I don't remember! But, after 4-5 days I felt SO much better. After a week, it was almost as though it hadn't happened. Hang in there!

January 12, 2015 - Making way for a new me!
Congrats on getting a date! It is great that you and your husband are doing this together. You have a built in support group! Good luck with the surgery!

Exhausted while on pre op liquids
I think what you are experiencing is absolutely normal. It is a huge change your body is experiencing. I was tired, grouchy, and had a headache for several days. It did get better, though. Get some rest and hang in there! Good luck with the surgery!

Protein Shakes
Premier are my favorite pre-made, and I can get them at costco, which is a bonus for me. I sometimes mix my own just to have some variety. Truly though, I think they all suck! Of course, I'm not drinking them for the flavor!

To tell or not to tell...facing family this Thanksgiving
I should add to that, I'm not saying my way is the right way. Just that it is the right way for me.

To tell or not to tell...facing family this Thanksgiving
From what I have read here, most people consider this a private matter and don't tell many others. I have been the opposite. I really don't care if someone knows I had weight loss surgery. It is what I felt was best for me, and that is that. Mind you, I'm not shouting in the streets or anything, but if asked, I tell. Reactions are mostly positive, but there are a few people in world who know everything about everything and know that I was wrong to do it. That's fine. This is about me, not them. Like I could give a #@*! what they think anyway!

Having near panic attacks about my surgery on Tuesday! Would love some advice and experiences from you
I definitely had the same thoughts. I lost 150 pounds pre-surgery, so I knew I could do it on my own. I finally came to the conclusion that the surgery would help me lose the last 100 quicker and help me keep it off. Staying at a healthy weight for life is my biggest motivator at this point. Good luck!

Dizzy and weak
+1 on the calories. That could be an issue. Definitely something to talk to your nutritionist about.

Food stage help
Soft food starts at week 4 for me, but I'll still be in pureed stage for Thanksgiving. That's okay, I'm not a big fan of turkey anyway!

Too excited too soon?
I don't think you are too excited. That sort of enthusiasm will be great in helping you do what you need to do! Keep up the positive attitude!

Regret
So, make the most of the situation. Use the surgery to your advantage to lose the weight you want to lose. Then, slowly reintroduce other things back into your diet until you back to what you consider a normal lifestyle. A lot of people who have had this surgery still eat carbs, or whatever else they want. It's not the end of the world.

Spaghetti Squash?
It is good stuff. A nice substitution for pasta! It is available at any grocery store or farmer's market around here. (AZ)

My last appointment
From approval to surgery was 3 weeks for me, but it could have been less. I was on vacation when I got the call. So, there is still hope for a December date. I know what you are saying with paying all of the out of pocket stuff again, I was afraid it was going to happen to me as well. Good luck!

Uhhh 7wks post op!
That's why I always get completely naked before stepping on the scale at the doctor's office! Congrats on the weight loss, great work!

Do You Drink Coffee?
I have been a "coffee geek" for years. I blend and roast my own Beans, experiment with various grinding and brewing techniques. I have a ton of coffee and espresso roasting, grinding and brewing equipment that I have acquired over the years. The chase for the perfect cup has been an obsession, to say the least! (I know, I'm weird!) But for now, it's on hold. Was told to give up caffeine for a year, and decaf seems pointless. So, I just look at it as a distraction from what I need to be focusing on now. Sweet delicious coffee will still be there when I am ready to have it back!

4 weeks post op and already amazed at pics!
Definitely looking good! Keep up the great work!

How to deal with fat friends
I told those who I consider to be true friends from the start of this whole process. The reactions, from both the fat and skinny ones was mostly positive. If anyone has a problem with me doing what is best for me, I would consider them more excess weight that I need to drop.

What are some cream soups for post op
Cream of broccoli would be fine. I ate broccoli and cheese soup (with the broccoli strained out) with no bad effects. If you have difficulty with it, it may help to make it a little thinner than normal.

I'm getting so close!
Congrats! You are almost there! Keep up the great work!
