    Will I only loose 10kg!

I was sleeved on December 2nd 2014 and my BMI was under 30. I weighed 85.5 kg at the start of pre op shake diet and 82kg on the day of surgery. I am now 9 weeks post op and now weigh 70kg. I have absolutely no doubt I will get to my goal weight of 60kg. This surgery has completely changed my life for the better.

With vanilla the possibilities are endless.
  4. Hi Everyone, Does anyone know if chia seed pudding is allowed in pureed Stage? You can add chia seeds to any Protein shake and it will set into a pudding. I have to stay away from artificial flavors and colors (they trigger my asthma) so pudding mixes are pretty much out for me.

    IT'S OFFICIAL!

    Yay!!! Congrats
  7. Thank you for explaining. My mother has had a lap band for ten years. She has described a similar thing but I didn't know this was "the slimes". This forum is amazing thanks to people like you that take the time to explain even the most unpleasant aspects of WLS.
  8. Hi everyone, My surgery date is December 2nd and I have a couple of questions for the more experienced sleevers. 1/ Do we chew, chew, chew for ever or is this just important in the first 12 months or so? 2/ Is it better to wear a binder after surgery or not?

    Newbie Brisbane

You should qualify. I'm 85KG and 167cm tall. The pre op clinic is at the hospital (Allamanda on the Gold Coast) and is just a quick check up and they give you all the info you need for your hospital stay.

    Newbie Brisbane

I'm in Brisbane too! I had to wait two weeks for an appointment with my surgeon. Saw him on November 5th. He didn't need a psych eval at all but did want a gastroscopy. He scheduled my surgery for December 2nd. I had bloods done straight after the appointment and booked the gastroscopy. Went to see the dietitian the next day and got my shakes for the 10 day pre op diet. I have the gastrscopy on Thursday (13th of November) and start my pre op diet on the 22nd. Lastly I have the pre op clinic on the 26th of November at the hospital. As you can see, it can all happen pretty fast!!! Good Luck

Age 50 or over (or anyone)

Hi ladies, I'm 53 and scheduled for a sleeve on December 4th.

    Day 7 of pre-op

I start Saturday week. I think I'm more worried about the pre-op diet than anything else.
  15. Wow, thanks for this! You've explained it so well! So, having the slimes is caused by overeating? I thought it was caused by a chunk of food being stuck but you can chew really well and still get them if you over eat apparently. You've really helped me understand.
  16. Thanks for all the feed back on the binders ladies. I think I'll get one just to be sure.
  17. I'm scheduled for December 2nd too!!! I've got a pre op shake diet starting on 22nd of November with veg and salad allowed. I've been researching Protein powders and Vitamin powders to use during the first month or so. I thought green powder added to your daily Water intake would help stop vitamin deficiency during the time we are pretty much just focused on protein alone.

    Low BMI and Gastric Sleeve

My BMI is 32 and my surgery is scheduled for December 2nd. Here in Australia the cutoff is 30 with co-morbiditities for a few surgeons. When I saw the dietitian to get my pre and post op eating info the first thing she said was "Can I ask......was your doctor reluctant at all?" The answer is "no". I am on the very edge of qualifying for this surgery, I'm aware of this. My family are beyond supportive because they "know" me and are aware this is VERY heavy for me. I am 10KG (22 pounds) heavier than I was at 9 months pregnant. I have a very small frame.....you just can't tell this with all the fat (44% by my scale) I'm carrying around. I also have a family history of diabetes and high blood pressure. My mother had lap band surgery ten years ago and says it's the best thing she ever did for herself. She is so very excited for me. I've decided to tell everyone, other than family, that I'm having surgery to have my gall bladder removed. I actually had it removed 8 years ago but no one remembers that.
  19. Very excited tenzinblue! I saw my surgeon for the first time on Wednesday the 6th of November. The surgeon gave me my date that day and then sent me straight to have blood tests done and to book a gastroscopy (to check for hiatus hernia). The next day I saw the dietitian for pre and post op diet. Thursday the 13th of November I have the gastroscopy. Saturday the 22nd I start on the Optifast shake diet and then the countdown to surgery begins!!!!!!! It's all go that's for sure. Yes, we will definitely keep in touch....x

OOhhh, sending prayers and wishing you luck!
  21. Hi Jess, I'm booked for December 2nd so I'm a few weeks ahead of you. I'll let you know how I go!!! Sorry I'm no where near London (Brisbane, Australia actually)
  22. Hi, this is my first time posting here. I saw my surgeon for the first time today and was given the 2nd of December as my surgery date. I'm sooooo excited!!! I see my dietitian tomorrow. Anyone else being sleeved on the same day?
  23. OOOOh, That probably makes us almost the same day with the time difference between the US and Australia lisaabrumfield. I think my op is in the morning. Thanks gabbykittyvsg! I can't wait to join you! Nice to meet you downsizingdiva!
