  1. Congratulations!! It's definately worth it.
  2. I'm allergic to opiods. I was on a pump with something in it right after surgery that worked really well. Just tell your doctor about your aversion. mine had a solution that worked great.
  3. So, My lovely wife who constantly puts up with my hairbrained schemes, crazy trips and run-on sentences with grace and patience volunteers at the local chapter of the Assistance League, or as I call it "The League of Extraordinary Ladies". I went in today to say hello and saw the most wonderful thing. A Goeffery Beene Neimun Marcus full length thick wool overcoat. It was a thing of beauty and a joy to behold. It was a large and ..... only $15. Ahem..... SQUEEEEE!!! I purchased it. It is too small for me now, but after another 40 pounds.... It won't be. I just thought I was motivated before, Now... motivation is turbo-charged.
  4. I've been told the same things. Low Carbs and lean Protein. I've also been told to stay away from starches or keep them to a bare minimum. It really sounds like the PALEO diet to me.
  5. I had a drain. It was only in for about 23 hours post surgery.
  6. Hello Sleevers, I weighed myself in the am and was 238. Yay!! 10 pounds in 8 days. Now I weigh myself this evening and I'm 240. I'm only drinking Protein shakes and a half cup of Soup for lunch. Total calories is about 470. I'm also walking at a brisk pace for an hour for exercise. It's not the calories. The only thing diffrent today was that I managed to get about 58 ounces of Water down. So, I think this could be just water weight and it will all work it's way out eventually. Has anyone else had or seen this?
  7. Good Luck. I'm 8 days post-op and feeling great. Best decision ever. You won't regret it.
  8. I'm not sure what has changed as far as taste. The things I do eat taste the same, it's just that the impact of the taste is much less. I think that's the best way of putting it. My lack of hunger and lowered desire for food is my main question at the moment. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great. This is a complete 180 from where I was before. At the moment it's like food has absolutely no power over me at all. I eat because I have to and not because I want to. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience and can shed some light on what I can expect next.
  9. Hello Sleevers, I am coming up on my 1 week post-op of a band to sleeve revision. I've been following my post op diet with shall we say is a "reigious ferver". To be completey open, it isn't hard. I"m only drinking Protein shakes (1 cup unsweetened almond milk and 1 scoop protein powder). I use almond milk because real milk and soy milk upsets my stomach. The 1st few days, I could only get about a half cup of the Protein shake down in 1 sitting. Now, I can get an entire cup down, but it takes me about an our to do it. I'm full afterwards (about a 6-7 on the fullness scale) and don't crave or want anything else. About 3 days ago I started adding a 1/2 cup of Soups (wild mshroom and tomato) to my diet. I added them for a bit of a change. These are 2 soups I use to love. Now... meh... their OK I guess. Certainly nothng worth obsessing about. I'm only drinking Water and a cup of coffee and am managing about 50- 60 ounces a day. I'm only interested in water, and not anything else that has flavor. Here is what concerns me (well not exactly concern but certainly is a radical shift from my past feelings about food). I thought the post op diet would be hard like it was with my band. But now, I'm not really that interested in food. Since my Ghrllin levels have went down, I'm not hungry and don't really think about food. I'm just fine with staying on Protein Shakes and really am not obsessing about eating solid food at all. It would be nice as achange... but it's just not something that I'm overly excited about or even think about at the moment. I think that even when I'm on solid food again, this is pretty much going to be the same. This is a complete 180 from what it was like before the band and with the band. My question to those out there that have went through this, is, have you experienced this and does it eventually wear off to some extent or is this the way it is from now on? Regards, Babelfish5
  10. I have a digital Weight Watcher scale. It goes all the way to 450 in 1/10th inceremnts. Very accurate and actually matched my surgeons scale.
  11. @@holliwood1980 Focus on the goal and benefits. Drink low cal/no cal fluilds. Avoid sugary drinks like the plauge. And dink drink drink, then, when your done drinkng..... drink some more. With myself, I found that I felt hungry when I didn't drink alot. Keeping Fluid in my stomach helped me alot on the pre-op diet. Good luck.
  12. Good Luck!! It's worth it.
  13. I've taken phenteremene before, and they definately work for me. But, I think that 25 pounds in 2-3 weeks is an unrealistic goal. Your going to have to go to extremes to get that kind of weightloss.
  14. My insurance company approved after 10 days. I would think that with 2.5 years of the band not working and the issues you have had, there would be no problem getting approved. Good luck!
  15. My band never really worked for me. I got mine in 2006. I felt that I needed to get it revised because I started having issues with it. Pain, vomiting, slime and nausea were always there. My band surgeon told me nothing was wrong. In hindsight, I should have never had it .I had to many problems with it and not enough weight loss. No regrets on the revision so far. It's good to have the band gone. I'm seeing results and feeling much better now.
  16. Just had my band revised to a sleeve on the Nov. 4th. It went fairly smooth with only a few issues. My recovery is going well and my pain and swelling is almost gone. so far, sfter surgery, I only have had Protein shakes with no desire to eat anything else. Your going to be just fine. Pre-op is always a tough time. It's the time you have the biggest doubts and start to rthink. Power through it, its going to be fine. Only you can succeed at the pre-op diet. The only advice I can say is that it's worth the effort and you will be glad you had the revision. Good Luck!
  17. Congratulations!!! 40 pounds is great! I'm less than a week post operative and am having trouble getting all the Protein I should be getting. I'm hoping it's just the swelling. Keep up the good work.
  18. Just had my revision on the 4th and am still recovering. It's defiantely correct that the sleeve is much tougher to recover from than the band. But, so far it's worth it. I can already tell a difference. I had problems from my band from the beginning. The sliming, the vomiting, the pain. Turns out that my band surgeon put a metal band around my stomach instead of a beveled plastic band (what he was supposed to do). The metal band had cut a groove into my stomach and the band had adheased. Luckily for me, the groove and adhesion was in a part of my stomach that was going to get ut out anyway. My sleeve surgeon said that in a year or 2 I was going to have a real big problem. So, I now think that the sliming and vomiting your seeing isn't normal and could indicate a problem I hope not. But, I was lucky and decided to get mine revised before my issue got very serious. I think it's very worth it to revise.
  19. Thanks for all the replies. It took me 3 days to get off the Fluid weight. I'm glad its' off. Now for the real weight loss!!! My drainiage has stopped as well. I'm still sore and a bit swollen. I was a lap-Band to VSG revision. I had problems with my band and the surgery took longer than expected due to adhesions and of all things, a metal clip that had been put arond my stomach instead of a beveled plastic ring. The metal had tor a gouge into my stomach. Luckily for me it was in an area the doctor was going to cut out anyway. Yesterdy I could only frinl 1 cup of Protein shake. Today looks like I may get 1 1/2 cups plus my Water. I even tried coffee!!! Yay for a half cup of coffee!!
  20. Hello All, I was sleeved on November 4th, 2014 and released November 5th. During my stay in the hospital, I received 5 - 6 bags of IV Fluid. When I came home, I weighed myself and saw I had a 10 pond weight gain. The night of the 5th, I went to the bathroom like clockwork, every 2 hours. This morning I was only up by about 2 pounds. I'm assuming that this is the Water weight from the IV's and it will eventually come off. Has anyone else has this experience? If so, how long does it take for the water weight to come off?
  21. I Hope it went well. I'm sitting in registration now. 3 hours to VSG time.
