  1. Hi everyone, Wondering if there are any Rochester NY area sleevers out there? I am pre-op, scheduled to have surgery on November 24th at Highland with Dr. O'Malley. Would love to hear from others that are local. Thanks!
  2. Hi Everyone, I'm in Rochester and surgery date is November 24th! Highland Hospital with Dr. O'Malley. Nice to meet fellow Upstate NY'ers!
  3. @@bellabill Hi Lisa, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! !! . I am fairly new to the group as well. And we have very similar stats, I'm 51 with a BMI of 51 but not for long! . So happy to find this group. I am in Upstate NY but used to live in the Boston area for 22 years (I see you live in Mass)...I miss my red sox and the ocean! I am scheduled to have surgery on the 24th however that might get pushed out 3 weeks (my doing not the surgeons). I have a major project at work that should have been finished before surgery and its not. I just want to get it under my belt so I wont have to rush back or stress. Hopefully my surgeon will allow for this, not sure, calling on Monday. So welcome and looking forward to chatting with you all! and Have a great day today! Martha
  4. Thanks so much everyone! Excited to find you all. @@Vsglady nice to chat with you again! And thank you for that stat about over 50 with BMI over 50. That just reconfirms I am doing the right thing! Have a great night everyone!
  5. Hi Everyone, I am new to this particular forum but wanted to introduce myself. I am glad to find people in my age group. I was getting a little nervous seeing so many younger people and not many people around my age. I am scheduled for surgery on November 24th, in Rochester NY. Very nervous and very excited. i guess the nerves are mostly around surgery itself and complications that may arise because of my age and BMI. I am 51 and my BMI is 51 as well! Currently at pretty much the highest weight ever, been overweight my entire adult life with the exceptions when i have lost a lot and then of course, gained it back. Would love to hear from others that have already been through it with a similar BMI and age and just help me understand its all going to be ok! thanks!
  6. I'm on the 24th as well! in Rochester, NY. Getting very nervous!
  7. @@chellede @@SimplySue @@Vsglady - Thanks so much! I appreciate any and all advice from the "veterans"! How soon until you all went back to work? I am basically at a desk all day, stressful job but nothing strenuous. I was hoping to be back at work, maybe even if just half days, after a week or so. Is that unrealistic? I know everyone is different but my thinking was whats the difference if i am sitting at my desk versus sitting on my butt at home? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks again!
  8. Hi to all the October Sleevers. I am a November Sleever barging in! Would love to hear how the first weeks went for everyone and any recommendations or advice that you can give that maybe you wished you knew going into surgery? My surgery is November 24th in Rochester, NY. Thanks!
  9. @@SimplySue thanks so much for the info! I'm excited but so nervous and scared at the same time. Good luck to you! Keep up the great work!
  10. @@SimplySue Hi, i saw that you had your surgery at Highland! I am scheduled for November 24th with Dr. O'Malley. How did everything go? I am so darn nervous and starting to have second thoughts. I want this and I really need this but getting nervous about the surgery itself, going under, the risks etc. Would love to hear any feedback or experience you had a Highland. I sit at a desk most of the day so I was only planning on taking one week off...not sure if that is crazy or not!? Thanks in advance!
  11. Wow! Yesterday? Congrats! How are you feeling? How is it going? My date is November 24th and getting nervous and second guessing the decision! arrgghhhh
  12. Lay on your left side, that is supposed to really help with gas (helps things flow in the right direction! ). Also, i haven't had surgery yet but I have read from many other people that the gas-x melt in your mouth strips really work as well. Good luck!
  13. Tashabella, you must have read my mind! i am feeling all the same things you are feeling as it gets closer and closer. I was going to post something similar and then saw your post! I'm sorry i don't have words of encouragement right now but just wanted to let you know someone else feels the same way! We will get through this!
  14. @@robin789 I am November 24th as well!
  15. i would love to join the FB page as well. I would also rather join a secret one right now, I haven't told a lot of people yet. Surgery date is November 24th. Thanks very much!
