I'm eating like a normal person
This is such an interesting topic and it still shocks me everyday. Normally I would never do this but I just had surgery and am having a difficult time swallowing any food right now. I wanted something other than pudding or cottage cheese so I had my husband warm me up a can of Campbell's home style chicken noodle Soup. (You know, the little red and white can). He warmed it up and put the whole can of soup in a mug for me and then handed it to me. I laughed and said you know this is actually 2 servings of soup and I will be lucky if I can eat 1/3. He went and poured out 1/3,of the soup into a new mug for me. It took me 15 minutes to eat and I still had half of what was originally in the mug. I told him to cover it with Saran Wrap so I could have it for dinner later. He is still shocked by how little I can actually eat. I swear every time I get a meal at a restaurant I could just scream. They serve you enough food for 4 whole meals. When will restaurants start to realize they really are half the problem.

One year ago today....
@@taterbum, You have come so very far! What an inspiration to others who are just beginning their new healthier life. Congratulations and good luck on the rest of your journey whether that is maintenance or continued weight loss. You should be very very proud of yourself!

getting cold feet
Take a deep breath and relax a little bit. You already went through all the reasons why you should do this for yourself. Get that list back out and focus on it. Stop worrying about all the things that could, might happen because they are so rare. Remember in the beginning your restrictions are significant but I can eat anything I want. I just do it in very tiny portions. Most of that stuff I really don't care if I ever eat it again. Your tastes really change. Don't worry and keep your eye on the prize

6 days out, how to attend Father's memorial?
You can definately do this! You just need to plan ahead. The most important thing at this stage will be to stay hydrated. Make sure you take your Water with you and sip like crazy all day long. Take plenty of breaks as well. I am so sorry for your loss and pray you will get through all of this.

Need help...Nectar Protein Powder
I tried these for the first time this week because I am barely able to eat anything due to my neck surgery. I love the fuzzy navel made with Water as well as the Caribbean cooler. The vanilla bean torte is delicious made with milk. I was actually surprised because I cannot tolerate the taste of Protein but did not have this problem at all with these favors. I am not sure about the other favors but give fuzzy navel a try and see what you think.

Hairloss and Hairstyles
I have lost 3/4 of my volume. I take Biotin everyday and seem to have good growth coming back but it just won't stop falling out. I went with a short style so it is not so noticeable.

A little over two years out and thrown right back into my fat days...
I still like the idea of accidentally kicking him in the coconuts! I bet he would keep his mouth shut from then on! Chalk it up to pure stupidity!

What to do-have to run an all day meeting 17 days postop
Yep, I would definitely go for the protein drink.

Last day of Pre- op diet
I feel so bad for you having to sit in the awful house and watch other people eat! When I was going through the liquid diet both preop and postoperative I could not get my husband to even eat anything in front of me. It was his way of being very supportive and he thought it was cruel to eat anything in front of me. It kind of made me a little crazy because I knew he was starving and would not eat unless I was in bed or gone. I finally convinced him that my choice to go through this should not punish him in the process. He finally started eating in front of me again but it took a very long time.

Panni Vs tummy tuck
A tummy tuck actually tightens your tummy muscles as well as gets rid of the extra skin. For me it is a no brainier, I have had two children and must must must get the tummy tuck even if I have to figure out how to pay out of pocket.

Biotin
Biotin will help with regrowth of your hair. It will NOT stop it from falling out. The sooner you start taking it the better.

Forget to eat?
I would be surprised if this hasn't happened to everyone at one point or another. The bad news is, your body really does feel it if you wait too long.

ok girls, anyone have hair loss anywhere OTHER than your head?
I had my lip and between my brows done before surgery. There is no change or regrowth in those areas which is good news because that is expensive and I would have been mad. I do think if we were going to lose hair they should picked some spots that would be more convienient. Not my head for crying out loud!

Will we have to low carb for ever?
I have been eating good carbs since the first 4 weeks post surgery. Eating a balanced diet is the most critical for long term success. So many people do not get that vegetables, fruits, cheeses are all carbs. It is the types of carbs you choose to eat that is most important. I was told 1 gram of Protein for every inch you are tall. I was also told 2 bites of good protein for every one bite of healthy carbs. I love my protein and vegetables and that is what I crave.

New here- looking for advice on lapband revision!

Wl- pill topiramate aka topamax
I wish you the best of luck with your weight loss goals. I hope that Topomax helps you out. I was on it for about 7 years for the prevention of migraines and was told weight loss was a nice side effect. Well, it did not stop my headaches nor did it help me lose weight at all. In fact, I was at my heaviest weight while taking that medication. I have heard of others having good success. Hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones!

Marriage and relationships after Weight Loss Surgery
Totally agree with @CanyonBaby. This really is a journey you both go through together. If you already don't have support, you won't likely get it diwn the road. My husband is obese as well and really needs to do something for himself but in the meantime I do not pressure him. He will make the appropriate changes as he becomes more ready. As far as I go, he is so proud of the progress I have made that he tells my story all the time. We had to see my bariatric doctor this week because I am having a very difficult time eating much of anything following another surgery. My husband went on and on about how engaged I am in this journey, whether it be a support group lead role or simply helping spread the word. My doctor said to my husband that it is really refreshing to see a spouse so excited for his significant other. He really is my biggest supporter. He is my very best friend and has done nothing but support my choices along the way. I would like to think most healthy strong marriages become stronger after this type of life changing event.

Surgery 6/11 strange thing to say...
I swear I could not pee normally for over a week. That was the strangest experience and I have had many surgeries on my life. I struggled to pee for a long time. Again I wonder if it has anything to do with all the gas they pump into you?

The dumbest diet you tried?
Nutrisystem was the worst. You paid a lot of money and basically the wrappers the food came in tasted better than the good! It was seriously like eating cardboard.

Could use some ideas
Hi Everyone! I has RNY in September and I have been doing very very well. I am down 105lbs at this point and right now losing every day. Part of the reason I am losing so much now is because I just had spine surgery that was performed through my throat. I had that surgery completed on 6/3. I am in a decent amount of pain but am coping very well. The issue is I am having a very difficult time eating and drinking much of anything worth while. Apparently this is normal for this type of surgery but I have not found cases where the patient had both RNY and spine surgery so close together. I am not even coming close to my Water requirement and have been getting cramps. I cannot seem to find much to eat that does not get stuck in my throat and require liquid to go down. I am of course drinking icy cold Protein shakes because I am worried about not getting enough protein. I have also started eating full fat pudding because it is icy cold and does not seem to get stuck.nright now I need both the dairy and the sugar sure isn't hurting. I am lucky if I manage 40gr of protein and a total of 300 calories. This of course has been going on since last week Tuesday. Does anyone have any ideas for very soft savory foods that might help me? I choke on Beans and cheese. I have been doing ok with very very mushy chicken noodle Soup. I am looking for things that will slide down my throat without chewing. I am pretty tired of pudding, chicken soup and cottage cheese. Cottage cheese has worked well for me. I heard there is a recipe for some type of baked ricotta? Anyone have a recipe like that? Thanks in advance for you help! I really was not expecting this throat issue to be so bad and they tell me it could be many more weeks of this!

Pain 5 days out from RNY
From my experience it takes about a week before you don't have any pain.
