Should I expect a stall?
I'm currently a size 36. Aim is for a size 32. And your right. The scale really doesn't determine it, it will be the sizes of my clothes.

Should I expect a stall?
I was sleeved on October 22, 2014. I have made what I think is a very quick recovery. I came home a day early. This morning I walked six miles. I'm planning to do 6 miles a day for the first three weeks and then get it up to 10 miles a day. Right now I'm doing 2 miles in the morning, 2 mid afternoon and 2 in the evening. The scale keeps on falling. Everthing is sugar free. Should I expect a stall even with the exercise I'm doing everyday? I'm planning to return to work next week which is very labor intensive, however I'm going to let my employees actually do the heavy lifting and the hard work for once. I'm going to start slow for when I return to work and maybe work from 8am to 11am daily and then take off and try to build up from there. I own the company so its not like I can get fired. LOL. This surgery has greatly impacted me already and I've also offered to all of my employees who my company insures that since our health plan won't cover sleeving, if they go to Mexico and pay for the air fare to and from, I'll pay for the surgery should anyone on the insurance plan need it... meaning immediate family members. I've told my employees I'll cover a max of $5500.00 for sleeving. I think more employers need to offer this. It seems like a lot, but in the end, I think it will make my insurance premiums go down.

Hurt our new tummy
I was told liquids. I've heard different things like soft eggs are okay. I'm not even a week out but i'm trying to survive this bland diet. I've got pop sickles and also got Jello...both sugar free of course. They told me to drink diet Gatorade but I couldn't find diet. I've been drinking Water like crazy. I feel so hungry atm. I just tried to eat eggs and then got that feeling and I knew it was time to stop.

OMG! I've been wondering about this. I haven't had one since Tuesday. 4 days and no BM. WTH? I'm trying to walk 6 miles a day atm and so far I'm meeting that goal, but I'm hoping this doesn't happen. What have you been consuming diet wise?

Why is having surgery in Mexico such a taboo subject?
when your ready to take charge and get it out of the way, its so cheap. Forgot trying to get it done in the US. Go to Mexico. You could have it done as early as next week. I'm sitting at home after having my surgery done this past Wednesday. I walked 3 miles today. I was going to do it in the states but didn't see a need to wait 3 months and gain more weight only so they can do the operation here for 3 times the price.

I was fine flying home. On one layover, I stopped and went into a nice restaurant and ordered french onion Soup and Water. I only drank the broth and sipped on the water very slowly. No pain;. I then got the rest of it to go, grabbed my flight and took a few more spoon fulls after we were in the air, then I threw the rest away. I wanted to eat the bread and cheese so bad but didn't. I kept drinking apple juice to keep my energy levels up. I haven't vomited once yet. I felt nausea after the surgery but they gave me stuff for that. For pain they give you a very light narcotic. its not very strong at all. I don't feel much pain in my stomach. It's mild discomfort. Today I walked 3 miles with no problem. I'm going to try to do another 3 miles tonight.

And I'm home, resting comfortably in my bed. I arrived at the San Diego Airport at 11:05. I didn't even have a ticket. Southwest changed my ticket from tomorrow to today and got me on the 11:30 flight. I was home by 6:11. I am so happy to be home. It always amazes me how I can go from one side of the country to the other in no time.

I flew into San Diego from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I used miles to buy my air ticket so it came out to $119.50 I think. some where along those lines. I checked the prices and united was the cheapest, it was around $900.00 round trip. I always upgrade to first class so it would have been around $1100.00 total. Airfare was not included. The staff is very nice. Dr. Louisiana Valenzuela is who did my surgery. (I couldn't spell it so I copied and pasted). I was scared to death as I voiced that prior to the surgery. I had many fears and I found them to be nothing. No Catheter. No mask that deprives me of oxygen. They put me under via IV. My throat isn't sore. I am going to be telling everyone about this place. I keep hearing horns honking and one of the nurses told me it was because we are right by the border and everyone is honking to get into the US. The cool thing about where I'm at, I use straight talk for my phone service (its AT&T) and I've had phone service here from the US side since I'm only 3 blocks away. The hospital has wifi but I've been able to use my phone as well. Others have complained their their phones don't work here. I think its funny, I'm on the cheap pre-paid phone plan and still have service and they aren't on the cheap plan and have no service. There is a costco within sight, I've been tempted to grab a taxi and go shopping... I can take 2 bags for free with me on the plan, so I could buy another suit case and fill it up LOL. We don't have Costco in Tulsa. I was thinking I could fill it full of cheap Tequila but then I realized I can only take 3 bottles home with me.... not like I'll be drinking anytime soon. One more thing I thought I'd add... I haven't had to take my depression medication one bit. I just haven't been depressed. I have no hunger pains at all. they have told me to stay hydrated. Also, Barclays World Elite Mastercard has a $400.00 travel credit if you sign up and get approved. That will help offset your plane ticket.

Mexico Bariatric Center
Oh and the drain tube was only 10 inches of tube inside of me. It felt interesting when he took it out I felt like I was loosing my breath. This place is spotless. They keep it extremely clean. The Air Conditioners will freeze you out. I've had to tell them to turn mine back off several times.

Mexico Bariatric Center
I'm doing well. Once I got the drain tube out, I started feeling amazing. I'm supposed to go to the hotel today but I'm going to tell them straight up, take me to the airport. I can't do another day here. I'm bored out of my mind. Stomach is fine. It's sore of course. They just took my IV out. I'm drinking normal Water. They also gave me apple juice but it is causing me to get gasy which isn't comfortable. I woke up around 4am and I've been up since,,, but I'm used to central time. The hospital is right by the border crossing so I've heard people constantly honking their horns.. kind of annoying. I'm ready to get past all the next food stages, get healed and get on with life.

Mexico Bariatric Center
Well I'm being discharged tomorrow morning. I'm supposed to stay at the hotel one more night and then go home Saturday but I'm by myself and really lonely. I've got a good bill of health, so I think I'm going to go home tomorrow. If they won't take me to the air port I'll hire a cab. I don't care what it costs. I'd rather be home where my doctor can check in on me and my family is there. I have a long flight home. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this goes according to my plan. I've heard of people leaving much sooner.

Mexico Bariatric Center
Okay let me say... these long white stockings... ridiculous. Socks would serve the same purpose in my opinion. They gave me some klnzapan to help keep me calm. Found out I have an enlarged heart... so I guess its a good thing Im having the surgery. Still waiting to be taken back. It's 10:24 so hopefully soon. I'm also getting my teeth whitened for $190.00 lol. They also offer dental services. I wonder if its too early to think about a bubble butt... maybe I'll come back in a few months for some butt injections.

It's sinking in slowly and surely what I'm about to do. I'm very scared, but also very excited. I want to believe in my mind I'm being brave by going through with this. LOL. I do have to say, a lot of people sterotype Mexico. I'm here and loving it. I just wish I could go try all the food. grrr. Oh well, maybe in January. So hopefully by this time tomorrow night... I'm high (woozy) on morphine and then they let me go home the next day... and I'm sure I'll be bored and I'll let everyone know how my experience was... Also, let me add the hospital they use is very, very nice. I have no issues with letting them operate on me.

Mexico Bariatric Center
I booked my surgery through Mexico Bariatric Center. A few things I've found that I thought I'd pass along. They include the hotel stay. For a mere $100.00 more per night you can upgrade to their executive suite which is good for people traveling with someone. There are a ton of benefits including a free snack thingy with cofee, tea etc. Only issue I have is my coffee maker doesn't work so I can't make decafe coffee. I arrived today and their driver picked me up as promised, right on time. ' We went straight to the hospital to do blood work, ekg and fill out forms. Then onto the hotel. Surgery is tomorrow morning at 8:30 ish am. I paid right at $4620.00 with the fee for using my credit card. I'll post a follow up tomorrow after surgery.

Surgery is Tomorrow!
Good luck. Please try to post as soon as you feel up to it and let us know how it went. Mine is a couple days away and I'm just pushing myself, trying not to hyperventilate.

Getting sleeved next week 10/22/14
I'm getting sleeved next week and so far, only minor fears... but I'm definitely going through with it. I've asked the coordinator how soon I can expect to get back to work and I've had different answers I'm only 54 lbs over weight, but I have had weight issues forever. I'm wondering if anyone could tell me how long I can expect to be in pain and taking pain pills? I'm hoping 30 days or less. I at least know that i'm going to be a wimp after this is done. I imagine myself being in pain on the flight back home. Having my car pick me up, then being lugged home, tired, in pain and just sleeping a lot. I hope I'm just imagining this because I want a fast recovery. The only thing that did make me think about this surgery is I realized that I'm going to have a catheter. OUCH! I know its not that bad, but I do fear it. The cutting, the anesthesia, the recovery, that doesn't scare me much aside from the pain and anxiety. Even losing 80% of my stomach doesn't scare me... just the catheter.

Telling family Doctor about surgery
Remember that you employ your Doctor and who cares if you get his approval. Of course they don't want you going to Mexico... everything is so much cheaper there. They will try to tell you night mares about Mexico, but pause for a moment and remember that malpractice happens everyday in the US & I'm sure Canada. No one is perfect, even when it comes to health care.

Need Comebacks For "easy Way Out" Crack
In my opinion, when people say... easy way out, they are usually not educated on the matters and have no idea how to be supportive. I have several friends who dropped out of high school and got their GED instead of their High School Diploma. At least two of those people went on to found some pretty big companies. They are still self employed to this date just like me. They both provide at least 300 jobs in the areas they live in. When they said they were quitting high school to get their GED, they were told they were taking the easy way out... that they would not stand a chance at decent employment... because employers would look down on them for getting their GED... in short, a GED says HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA on it... so people were idiots for saying that. I don't have a high school diploma or GED and I've been self employed for 13 years straight now. I'm going to Mexico next week. People have told me... OMG I wouldn't go to Mexico...much less have surgery there... I look at them and tell them that they are racist and idiots. That usually shuts them down. If they continue, I then ask them if they have ever been to Mexico? The answer is always no. I tell them after they have saved for a few years to go. When someone tells me that I took the easy way out, I'm going to look at them... and give them snarky stuck up answers like... yep and I can afford to take the easy way out of everything, can you?

No Bariatric benefits on Insurance? $4900 special
Yes. I've made up my mind. I Just paid for my airline tickets and have paid my deposit. I can't see the downside to being healthier and being thinner. I won't ever have my large size again, but I think I'll be okay. I highly doubt I'll miss it. I have been so insecure for so long about my weight. I got a credit card last month that gives me a $400.00 travel credit but I haven't had any travel to use it towards. So my flight will end up costing me $36.00. I also used miles for the rest of it. Then I got the Chase Saphire card this month and after I spend $3k, I get a $500.00 travel credit... so I'm going to make my credit cards work for me for once. I'm putting the surgery on the chase card, then paying it right off so I meet the amount I have to spend. I guess what will also help offset that is the large credit line from care credit I opened that I'm not using. It'll help keep my utilization perfect.

No Bariatric benefits on Insurance? $4900 special
LOL I got the numbers wrong. $10,900 vs $10,500. Well they both rejected me and said my BMI wasn't high enough. So I'm scheduled for surgery in Mexico this coming week. It sucks that I Can't use care credit in Mexico, but its also half the cost.
