T-Minus 23 hours too sleeved, entering Magnesium Citrate phase......
singing... tomorrow, tomorrow, I'll be sleeved tomorrow, its only a day away........ wow, so close now, cant believe the time has arrived. Start my "cleaning out the plumbing drink" in a n hour. I'm nervous, excited, on edge, the whole sh'bang. I just feel I'm missing something for post op home needs but I can have someone get me if I need it. I have to pack my hospital stay bag and figure out what I am bringing. I've got great info here, so I have gasx strips, chapstick, anything else besides the obvious change of clothes and my phone or tablet? ANy items that were great to have when you got home? I had read a recliner was a great help so I got one last week. I also got a mug warmer too. I'll also try and post from hospital if I can. thanks for all the support!! love this site and group

Pre-op tests list
are you talking the 1 week pre-op / pre-admission tests or in general? I had an EGD about a month ago before they booked my surgery date which is the scope down the throat to look to make sure all is good for surgery, ie: no hernias or other issues etc... for my pre-op /pre-admission which I had yesterday 1 week before my surgery, they mentioned bloodwork, EKG and chest xray but only did bloodwork for me. I do see day of surgery they are doing another EGD though I guess to make sure stuff hasn't changed or maybe where to do the incisions?

Uh oh....am I doomed? former/current smokers PLS help!
I'm sweating myself. I had my 1 week pre-op / pre-admission testing today. I last smoked last Saturday night after an argument at home and was stressed. Prior to that was a few days smoke free, so not too long. I had been trying on and off for the past couple of months. I read up online that you can detox by drinking a gallon of water a day for 4 days. So I had 4.5 days before my testing today. I also ordered pee strips that test for cotinine/nicotine and I tested negative this morning before going to the hospital. They did not do a urinalysis but did draw blood. I will be on pins and needles until my surgery next Thursday as I wont know if there are any problems unless they call and they can call anytime (meaning they wont call to tell me all is a GO for surgery after today). I did read that nicotine is in blood shorter than in urine so I am cautiously optimistic. keeping fingers crossed. I think you will be fine if you stop now.

anyone cheat on the 2 week pre-op diet or slip up?
I am a week in on the diet and have been perfect but will say today I am starving and not sure if I can take another week of this lol. would one night or day of normal food or eating in the middle of the 2 week pre-op diet be the end of the world?

Was Your Gall Bladder Removed?
Hi. I had heard that if you still had a gall bladder then it would be removed during the VSG surgery because of the high rate of gall stones with rapid weight loss. I had my pre-admission pre-op visit today, surgery 1 week from today. About 6 weeks ago, I called the bariatric center I work with and specifically asked if my gall bladder will be removed as I had hoped so and the gal there put me on hold to verify and she said yes. The reason I asked to be sure, was that I saw the insurance paperwork and mentioned an EGD, VSG, and liver biopsy but no gall bladder removal. SO I wanted to make sure it was being removed and I was told it will be and is part of the VSG entry for insurance ie: gall bladder removal is part of what they do in the procedure. Anyway, today the Physicians Asst that saw me as part of pre-op where I sign my surgery consent, said NO, it is not standard unless I had had gall bladder issues before. She said only like 10% develop issues but I had read it was like 60% or more hence why its standard to remove the gall bladder. Afterwards she tells me how it does "suck" as her sister was sleeved last year and 9 months later had to have her gall bladder removed. How many of you had it removed (if you still had one) and how many had it left in and if so, any issues? This bariatric center is becoming more incompetent by the day and my surgery is in a week. uggggg I just didn't want issues down the road which would be painful, cost more money and more lost work time. I cant really do anything now because if I raise a stink or ask for it, will delay my surgery (ie insurance re-approvals etc..) thx
