    FitnessPal Nutrition Goals

I've actually been able to customize the MyFitPal goals to fit what is needed. When you go to set the goals, you can hit the custom button, and enter exactly what you want. (On the computer/web based version....don't think I can do that on my phone app.) If you set the calorie total you want, it then it lets you set a percentage for carbs, Protein and Fat, along with anything else you've added (sodium / Vitamins, etc.) I used 950 calories, with 40% protein, 20% carbs and 40% fat. That works out to 95g protein, 48g carbs and 42g fat as a daily "limit". I really only pay attention to the protein as a measure, to be sure I'm getting in all I need to. The carbs and fat calorie/ totals: I find I do not pay as much attention to them, but I'm always "under" at the end of the day anyway for those.
  3. My 2nd meal in the hospital was puree, and I was on pureed foods from then on.

    Crush water enhancer

I still have trouble 3 months out with plain Water...just feels too heavy. I like the Powerade Zero drops. I find that they are much less sweet than most of the others out there. I usually get the orange flavor by the 6-pack from Amazon (my local grocery stopped carrying that flavor). I've also bought the Mio orange/tangerine. The flavor on the Mio is pretty intense compared to the Powerade.

    One Chicken Taco

I usually just order a Water, then do not drink it...I find it easier than saying "Yes, I'm sure, nothing to drink. Yes, I'm sure" :-) The 1st time I went out with my family to a restaurant, I ordered the "light plate", which was just a taco with some Guac on the side. The waiter took my order, then leaned close and said quietly, "Um...I wanted to make sure you knew, the Lite Plate is veeeery small...not much food at all." I was quite amused and just said, "Yep, that's OK". He looked very confused as he walked away. I didn't even eat the whole thing, and ended up boxing some of it at the end.

    Flavor enhancers for water

I've found that the powerade-zero drops are much less sweet and more "watered down tasting" than the Kool-Aid and Mio drops. I particularly like the orange.

    Protein Questions?

@@CheleLynn45 1st Sleeve buddy! Haven't seen anyone else on 10/27 yet. Looks like you are rockin' the sleeve! Great job! @@Thumper79 Have you tried just drinking milk? A few cups of lowfat or skim milk has quite a bit of Protein as well. That might be a way to get it in without having to use the shakes you don't like. My NUT also said that skim milk with some added powdered milk can really boost the protein per cup...I haven't tried that yet myself, though. I've actually started drinking lowfat buttermilk (something I remember liking as a kid, but never had as an adult because it just didn't sound all that "healthy" :-)) I know now that each cup has about 9 g of protein, 2 g of fat and the same carbs as regular 1% milk. A cup 1st thing in the morning, a few throughout the day, and it really helps me avoid the Protein drinks.

    Protein Questions?

First, great job on your success so far!!!! I was sleeved October 27th, 2014, and I'm down 59 lbs through today. I am making the effort to hit 80 g of Protein daily, and 90% of the time I'm hitting that goal. I'm always over 70 even on days when I don't quite get there, so I think I'm getting my protein. I'm not sure you would lose more (short term) if you make it a priority (protein intake), but I think you would be healthier. As we lose weight, we will lose a certain proportion of fat/muscle. As the body fat% dips lower, that percentage will change (which is why it's harder to lose those last few pounds when you are near goal.) But, that percentage of burning muscle to fat also can change if you don't get enough protein. Your body needs protein in order to go about it's day to day processes. If you are not getting that protein in your diet, then your body will scavenge that protein from your muscles. You still might lose weight, but you are losing more muscle and less fat that way! Less muscle equals lower metabolism as well, which means less weight loss (than if you had more muscle.) In the long run, you're much better hitting your protein target, to help keep your metabolism up, and thus weight loss going. Good Luck!

Hey October sleevers, what are you eating?!

At 9 weeks I was able to start "regular foods", about 3 ounces per meal. Below is the link to my Dr's nutrition guidelines, which I am following (except for the fact that I was told to skip full liquids and go to pureed the day I came home from surgery). Check the 9-15 weeks link on that page, and it should give you an idea of what you'll be eating. http://www.mybrandnewlife.org/patient-stories-and-support/bariatric-dietitians-guide-to-successful-weight-loss/

    GO DUCKS!

Glad to see FSU get beat...but I have to say now: Go Bucks! :-)
  11. They do make a liquid form of Prozac. But, to be honest, I did not make that switch. I've been taking the 40 mg Prozac capsule since day 2, and have not had any issues. (I'm 5 weeks out now). I was pretty worried about this as well, but it has not been an issue for me. Good luck!

    Stomach binder

I took mine off when I came home, as it was stained and needed to be washed. I never actually put it back on.
