Case Manager - did you have one?
My surgeon's office has about three different people I can talk to. I prefer to talk to just one so I only deal with the original coordinator who started the process with me. I mostly speak with her via email (which works well for both of us!) and she gets back to me with all my crazy questions really quickly. I worked in a centralized patient appointing and referral management office for almost 12 years and I know how it is to get the run around and have things not go through as expected. It was just as frustrating to me as it was the patient (I was a supervisor) because I'm left with cleaning up someone else's mess to accommodate the patient....and usually being cursed out before that smh. One of my pet peeves is bad customer service. If more of the people in these positions would think like the patient they may get it done right the first time!

Week 6 check in 40 lbs gone
It's best to follow what your doctor says. You don't want to end up malnourished or anything because you didn't get in what you need. I know that gastric bypass patients can have problems absorbing all the necessary nutrients. If it's a matter if it being difficult to get it in maybe you need to consider other foods or Protein drinks to get it all. The very best thing to do is have your doctor explain it to you until he/she is blue in the face if they have to. You want to fully understand what's going on with this new you. We can tell you a billion different things in this thread but unless your doctor is on this thread, it may or may not apply to you specifically. Good luck!!

8 months post op with pics
Wow!! You look awesome! Great job! I can't wait to have my surgery and see myself shrink!! I also wanted to know if you have a major sagging skin issue? I think I'm more afraid of that than almost anything else.

OK, Now I'm EXCITED!
Congratulations!!! I would love for my surgeon's office to submit my paperwork next week. I just may ask! I was only required 3 months and I could still keep my last appointment but if he submits it next week I just might be able to have my surgery before the year is out!! After I do my ultrasound Monday and my psych eval (maybe Monday, they are walk-in) in do e with all but the last nutrition appt. Pray all goes well with your surgery! Congrats again!!!

How to deal with going to events
I do like the way I look now either but I still take pics. I have a whole album of before pics on my phone under the title Pre VSG. For me it's motivation to try my best to keep on the journey of change and it will keep me humble when I make it to goal and start REALLY thinking I'm cute LOL! But we do these things in support of your family and hope they will support us when we need it as well. It's going to be all about you soon ????

People Under 5 Feet
I am 5' even. I should be done with everything and ready for submission to the insurance company by Dec 5th!! I'm hoping to have my surgery the last week of January! A girl can hope right ???? I'm excited about it! And it's good to know I'm not the only shortie going through this. Most of the people I've talked to who have had it are 5'5" or taller

Motivational changes early on
I was the same way. I had my second of three appointments with my Nut today and I lost only one pound. But I know that I didn't do the best that I could. What's going to be hard right now is that we have all this stomach to put all this food in and we are used to filling it up with all the wrong things. Make small changes. Cut back your soda intake by one soda a day if you have more than one. If you're like me and go to McDonald's and have a Big Mac meal with a large soda, save some calories (and some money) and have a cheese burger with Big Mac sauce and a small fry...or no fries at all. Make some of your meals in muffin tins (check that out on Pinterest!!). Buy smaller plates or eat off of cake plates so your eye sees a full plate but the portion is smaller. You'd be surprised at how you really don't need as much to be satisfied. Baby steps. No one is expecting you to change over night. You just have to condition your mind to make different choices. You can do this!

100 Lbs Lost !
Do you have a wii? Wii fit and wii sports are a lot of fun if you're limited to indoor activities. And you can get your whole family involved.

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
First, my brother expressed his concern for my weight and wanting me to be there for his daughter (this was before I had my son) who is now 4 and I am her only auntie. Second, my son who is now three, needs me. I am his only parent and I would hate to leave him alone over something I could have prevented. Third, I went on a day trip to Florida (from DC) to get my niece and I had to take 4 different planes. The first and I had no problems with the seatbelt. But the other three I needed extenders and it was extremely embarrassing to have to reach over the people next to me (I always fly the window seat) to ask for it then to get it. I've been researching WLS for about 7 years and started the process 5 years ago but decided not to go through with it. I didn't know about VSG then. I'm so glad I waited and I can't wait to finally have my surgery!!! ( the fact that I'll probably like shopping for myself again is a HUGE plus too!!)
