Pain under my large incision 2wks post op
I'm 5 weeks post op, and I too, have had pain right under my large incision. Now that you mention it, it was most bothersome during TOM, but also if I've eaten a larger meal... I'm getting a fill this week so hopefully those larger meals will be a thing of the past.

Whats the biggest weight loss myth you have ever heard?
I did that diet, lol, I actually lost 20lbs before I started to get sick from it. That is still my favourite diet of all time!! I also did this breathing diet, where before and after your meal you had to take these really deep breaths that made you dizzy (apparently that was supposed to work) I remember my mom doing them with me, and reminding me to do my breathing haha. Above all, I think my trip to weight loss hypnosis takes the cake, I didn't lose a pound.

Sharp pain
Thanks, The pain is not there at all today and I'm able to get food down, no problem. I'm a bit more restricted than usual, but it just occured to me that i'm PMSing, and i've heard that people sometimes feel a bit more restricted during TOM. Thanks for all you're input, I think I'm ok! Meghan

Sharp pain
I am 3 weeks post op, and everything has been going fine, until this evening. I was bent over moving stuff around, and I got this sharp, popping/ripping sensation in my abdomen. It hurt for a minute, then went away and I just thought I had moved wrong or something. About 15 minutes later I tried to eat some eggs, chewed really well. I got one bite in, and it got stuck. This is the first time something like this has ever happened. It wouldn't go down, it wouldn't come up (it eventually went down, but it felt like an eternity). It was horrible! and ever since that, i've been getting random, sharp pains in my abdomen, that go away as quickly as they come. I'm thinking about calling the oncall doctor tomorrow if it continues, but don't want to bother him on Christmas if it's nothing... has anyone experienced this? Should I call my doctor tomorrow??

Got a Fill Date!
I went to my 2 week post-op appointment, and asked about my fear that I was stretching my pouch by eating too much food. The nurse told me it was to be expected, and it just meant I was healing well. She told me that I could book my first fill for January 4th!, and can come back every two weeks until I'm at proper restriction. I'm so excited. Let the real journey begin! Meghan

Sex!!!
I highly recommend people read the book "Big Big Love - a sourcebook on sex for people of size and those who love them" by Hanne Blank. It's an amazing, uplifting book that looks at logistical issues for fat sex (positions etc) as well as things like confidence, stereotypes etc. It's a very pro fat book, and I found it to be very helpful. It's an easy and fun read too!

The scales are going UP again!! *cries*
I've gained 7lbs since I started mushie food. I'm not concerned about it. I feel like my body is trying to recover a)from surgery and from the starvation diet I was on before surgery and after surgery (well not really starvation, but I didn't actually take in anything other than water and popsicles till 5 days after surgery so I did in a sense starve). THe reason I can stay positive is that although I'm gaining, I can feel my clothes fitting looser. Keep plugging away, you will lose eventually!

Incision questions???
I have 5 incisions 3 little ones, 1 inch and a half, and one half inch. Is the big one really the port site? My doctor told me he was going to put the port under my breasts and I have a small scar there.

Overeating before first fill?
Thanks, I had heard that there's no restriction until your first fill, what I want to make sure is that I'm doing harm by eating more than a cup of food at a time before my fill? I hope i get a fill soon! Meghan

Overeating before first fill?
I posted a similar question already, but can't find it to bump it up. I'm a little over a week out from banding, i'm following the post op diet, i'm at the pureed/mushie stage. I'm eating soups, cottage cheese, soft foods pureed. The thing is, I don't feel full with the doctor recommended 1/2 cup of food. I can eat about 1.5 cups of food before experiencing any fullness. Sometimes I feel too full (but i've never thrown up, or been in pain, just minor discomfort). I'm worried because I've read about stretching your pouch. I wanted to clarify... is this something that happens after being filled? or can it happen before a fill? I'm worried. I really want to do this right. What if I have stretched my pouch? can it be fixed? Have I ruined my opportunity with the band?

Pain when burping-Suggestions on burping comfortably?
I felt the same way for a few days after my surgery. I still get the odd small gas bubble that won't burp out, but I've found the further I get from surgery the less it hurts and the less gas I have. Good luck

Has Anyone Done It Yet
Try the Milk of Magnesia, but be careful... I was so desperate I took the largest recommended dose thinking I'd need it... BOY WAS I WRONG. After that, I began to experience some regularity.

Overeat Mushies and liquid??
Is it possible to overeat mushies? I'm thinking I'm a bit paranoid, but is it always going to hurt if you eat too much? Because I'm eating pureed food and quite a bit of it, and feel a fullness.. but still feel hungry at the same time, and it doesn't hurt to eat until that hungry feeling goes away, just feels a little bit of pressure. I also find that I'm hungry ever 2-3 hours or so... is this normal? Help! Meghan

stomach virus -- icky topic, sorry
I threw up twice the day of my surgery when I got home. It hurt like hell, but when I told my doctor he didn't seem overly concerned about it. I was freaking out, he just wanted to make sure that I could swallow Water with no problem... Don't know if that's helpful.. but that was my experience. Meghan

10cc vs. 14 CC
Thanks for your input.

10cc vs. 14 CC
I did a bit of a search for this answer but couldn't find it... Why do people get different sized bands? After my surgery, my Dr. sent me home with a lapband medical information card that tells about the lapband. The interesting thing was that on the card it's printed that I have a 14cc band. That is crossed out, and 10cc was written in by my doctor. I know what the difference is, but I don't understand why I got a smaller band. Any one have some insight? Meghan

December Post-Op Thread
Well it's taken me a few days to get up and around to posting. I was banded on Friday Dec. 7th, and it's been a rough few days. Friday morning I went in, and was out in a couple hours. The rest of the day Friday I was really out of it. I remember the nurse having a hard time waking me in recovery and I was pretty much out of it all day Friday. Saturday and Sunday I rested... was in some discomfort.. .mostly gas pain i think, but I had to lay low. Today was the first day I felt decent, and I think it's going to be pretty good from here on in. I'm not hungry at all... but have been trying to get in some calories through liquids so i don't pass out. Good luck to everyone whose surgery is upcoming. Despite the discomfort I wouldn't change my mind about this surgery! Meghan

fast food
My Doctor told me, it wasn't a diet, I wouldn't be counting calories or anything like that. I can eat what I want, as long as my body tolerates it, I just have to eat smaller amounts of it. I know that making good nutritional choices will help me to lose faster, and I intend to make as many good choices as I can. I will not diet though, and if I want a burger, and I'm able to manage it, I will have it I just won't make a regular habit of it.

Depressed breasts
I use to ride horses, and I bought the best sports bra ever. It was by Berlei. I think you can only get them in Australia, but well worth the shipping costs. I bought mine while I was in Australia, and it was the best purchase I ever made. Not great for everyday use, but the girls didn't move while exercising.

Anyone ever feel Anorexic with this band?
I'm also worried about this. I haven't had my band yet, but when I was a teen I had a similar pattern of eating. I was diagnosed with Bulimia. When I get that controlled feeling these days (even without the band yet) I use that control to feed myself healthy food instead of binge eating junk instead of not eating at all. I've really found that counselling and being aware of my "triggers" has been helpful. You might find speaking with a counsellor who specializes in eating disorders to be helpful. Meghan
