  1. After 2 years, the 27th will be here in no time at all! Way to stick with it!
  2. Yep, when we don't have to create sub plans!:biggrin2:
  3. In exactly a month from today I will be having my consultation with my surgeon. After that I am to go to the surgery center for my pre-op which will be bloodwork and a chest x-ray. That is also the day that I begin my pre-surgery liquid diet. I really haven't felt any fear yet, which means the reality of it all probably hasn't hit. I've never had ANY kind of surgery at all, so maybe my lack of knowledge is helping me not to fret. Also, my friend had the surgery on April 15th so I've heard lots of information from her.
  4. I'm so bad! I was picturing Scarlett gorging on food in her bedroom before being cinched tightly! I think I might need to go have another psych eval. now! :-) Thanks for the positive attitude and giving me a little giggle.
  5. Yeah for you and your surgery date! I right clicked on the banner in someone's post and saved it to my hard drive. Then I went to my profile and uploaded it to my signature section.
  6. I'll be on a clear liquids diet the week before the surgery to shrink my liver. For 5 days after the surgery I'll also be on a clear liquids diet until I heal. My doctor sells Protein shake mixes too, so when I go for my consultation I'll be buying some of that. I haven't had my "Last Supper" yet because I set another weightloss goal for May to keep from doing that. However, I keep telling my husband "This is probably the last time I can eat this."
  7. I think that is a great idea! I've gotten into the habit of exercising and writing down what I eat because I had to do that for True Results to send to my insurance company. I never complained about having to do the 6 months of supervised dieting because in that 6 months I lost almost 30 pounds that have stayed off and I have changed some habits that needed changing. If I just went and got banded without working to give up soft drinks and rice, I don't think I would be successful.
  8. I think that teaching adults would be a good gig. I currently teach 2nd grade and I love it, but I know I would NOT want to go any younger. Most of my career has been with 4th grade and that was really enjoyable. At least the week that you go back before Summer break, you won't have your student hugging on you because they missed you!
  9. Jules, I'm a teacher too and am excited to have my date for the very first week available when my summer conference is finished. It's been awhile since I went to DisneyWorld, but I'm thinking it won't be too terrible hard to stick to your diet. I remember it was alot of action and walking and seeing things, and not much stopping for eating. Just stay hydrated.
  10. That is AWESOME, Cathy! And you weren't pushed back too far.
  11. I love checking the updated list every day! Thanks to whomever created the Jazzy Junes banner; it looks great. Next time you update the list could you please change my name to TX Diva? Don't go out of your way to do it though! Stoked and ready, TX Diva
  12. I have BCBSTX TRS Activecare. I went through True Results and I had my approval letter in a week. I'm very pleased with how smoothly the whole six month experience went.
  13. Yes, I do. I currently live in South Arlington and I grew up in Central Arlington.
  14. I scheduled my surgery today. It will be on June 17th at Arlington Medical Center. I'm really happy that I won't have a long car drive to and from the hospital.
  15. I scheduled my surgery today! I'm going to be banded on June 17th! I'm so excited. That is the week I really wanted to do it because the school year will be over, and I have a weeklong math workshop the next week. That will give me something to think about besides liquids and gas pains! I'm so glad to see that we are going to be Jazzy Junies! I like that!
  16. Probably not. USMD is where I went to the seminar, so I initially thought I'd be having my procedure a couple of miles from my house. HEB is fine with me. I've made that trip monthly for the last 6 months. One of my friends just had lapband on the 15th and she swears she saw Dr. Carter while she was in recovery at the hospital on Matlock. Her surgeon was Dr. Harris or Harrison.
  17. Mark, that is AWESOME! I've just been approved by my insurance and will be having my surgery done by Dr. Carter also. I'm just waiting on his office to call so we can schedule it. Did he perform the surgery at USMD or at the HEB location?
  18. Hello all, I have just finished all the things my insurance company required and I received my letter of approval a week after my last visit! On Monday I called True Results and Dr. Carter's office to let them know that BCBS-TRS Activecare had sent the letter, so now I'm waiting for Dr. Carter's office to call me back to schedule the surgery! I'm hoping to do it in June right after school is out. I'm stoked! I didn't mind doing the 6 months of supervised diet because I was able to lose some weight and change some habits that needed to be changed. (No soft drinks...I can't believe I've successfully done it!) I also began riding my recumbent bike almost daily. During the testing, we discovered that I have just now developed diabetes, and I'm treating that. My PCP is positive that it will disappear after the surgery. I also am now using a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, and I haven't slept this good in ages!
  19. The Dr. who did my psych. eval. explained to me that they want to make sure they we are realistic about the surgery, and that we realize that there are risks involved. I didn't have anything to fill out, and it lasted about 30 minutes tops. Hubby was hoping I'd get a straight jacket to play with! :-)
  20. I'm using True Results. I went to one of Dr. Richard Carter's seminars and I had lots of my questions answered. It was one of his office staff that suggested I go through True Results (AIGB). There should be someone at the seminar that can help you with your insurance question. I would go to the seminar with a list of all your questions.
  21. Thanks for all the information on Dr. Carter. Cherrie, the reason it's taking so long is because of the requirements of my insurance company, BCBS TRS Activecare. They require 6 months of supervised dieting, which I'm doing at AIGB, which is located at the Hurst building where Dr. Carter does the surgeries. I was hoping he would be doing it at USMD, since it is so close to home, but at least it is at a building I'm already familiar with! Misty, thanks for the offer of the PMs for advice. I'm sure that I'll be asking you all sorts of questions when the time nears. I'm thinking that I might go to the support meeting right before my surgery to get a feel for the group.
  22. Hi, Cherrie. I'll be banded by Dr. Carter later this year. I have 3 months to go before my paperwork is submitted. Does he perform the surgeries at USMD?

Hello all. I'm in Arlington and will be having Dr. Carter do my lapband. I have BCBS TRS/Activecare, and am into the 2nd month of my 6 month supervised diet. That puts me past Spring Break, so I might schedule my surgery in June right after the school year is over. I've learned many things from reading the posts here, but haven't posted much. I lost 9 pounds my first month, and I can't remember the last time I lost that much weight! I'm not as good this month, but I'm thinking if I maintain in December I'll have accomplished something!
  24. Hi jljeje, I live in Arlington too and also just visited AIGB which puts me on the same schedule as you. I didn't feel discouraged after my visit. It was good for me to get the list of things I have to do. Look at it as a checklist and not as hurdles. Every month will be one more thing completed towards the goal. The only thing that discouraged me was that all the doctors they suggested for the various things I have to do are all in the HEB area. I hate that drive! After I found doctors in my area using the BCBS website I felt better. Dr. Carter, whose office suggested AIGB, will be doing my band. I'm excited to find someone who will be experiencing all this at the same time as me! TX Diva
  25. I went for my first appointment today. After being recommended by someone at Dr. Carter's seminar, I thought I would try them before I decided to just use my PCP. I'm glad I went in. I'm thinking that it will be less stress for me than having to ask my PCP for everything. They KNOW what I need. All the people I talked to today were very nice and helpful. Pardon the pun, but it feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders as I do my 6 months prep as required by my insurance.
