To tell or not to tell...facing family this Thanksgiving
Hi... This is a very, VERY hot and sensitive topic on these boards. Myself, I am a very private person and only 3 people in my life know. My job knows I'm having surgery, but no idea why, and that's perfect for me. This is a very personal decision that MUST be made by the individual. Some people believe that if someone asks you what you're doing, if you don't tell them that you've had surgery, you're a liar. Personally I think that's the most idiotic thinking I've heard, but again everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You may or you may not get some responses, but my only advise to you would be to be prepared for what anyone might say. There are a few very vicious threads with a lot of hurt feelings, name calling, etc. associated with this question. Tread lightly my dear, and I wish you all the blessings in the world on your WLS journey.

Too excited too soon?
Your excitement is both something to be encouraged and enjoyed. You have made a very positive step in your life that will not only make you look fabulous, but will improve your health beyond measure. Hold on to the excitement, nourish it, and keep it as long as you can. Your excitement will be your inner motivator.

Telling about surgery
To everyone that has commented on this thread... To those that are in support of keeping their personal business private, such as myself, and do not feel that my choice of privacy makes me a liar, THANK YOU and I truly appreciate that you get it! To those that want to educate others and help save the world from obesity and the horrible co-morbidities that go along with it, God Bless You, and you have fun with that. I have been verbally beat up and beat down by some through this thread, and yet I still stand. I allowed the stupidity of others to totally take me out of myself and for that I will deal with myself on. As for this thread, I'M DONE!! You can have it! I have no rebuttal for anything else that has been said to me or about me. I've had more than my fill of the negativity. And on that note...... ya'll have fun with this......... I'm going to watch SCANDAL!!! Peace!

I must really be weird, because I LOVE Flintstones chewables.

gas x stips
The gas that is pumped into your stomach during sleeve surgery is Carbon Dioxide. It is not the same type of gas that you would normally get which makes you "fart". The only way to rid your body of Carbon Dioxide gas is it has to be absorbed into your body. Normal gas remedies such as GasX, Mylanta, etc. do not work for this type of gas pain. If you are getting relief from gas pains using those products, more than likely it is just the normal gas pains you get, not from the Carbon Dioxide that has been pumped into your stomach. That is another reason they want you to start walking as soon as possible, as it aids with the absorption of the CO.

Is it mandatory to quit smoking?
My surgeon is on staff at the Maryland Bariatric Center of Excellence and she has made it crystal clear (thank goodness I don't smoke) that any patient of her's that is scheduled for surgery will have both urine and blood tests done the week before their surgery. If any nicotine is detected, your surgery will be cancelled, no if, and, or buts about it. I can't imagine what its like to have to stop smoking right in the midst of all this craziness.

Did anyone NOT tell their job about surgery?
I am having surgery on December 12th. I haven't told anyone but my boss, and all I told him as that I was having surgery and that I wouldn't be back in the office until the first of the year. Didn't give any details at all. It's none of their business. Its great to be having surgery in December because there is absolutely nothing going on at work.

Recommend Blenders?
I have the Ninja Pro and I absolutely love it! I use it every morning to make my protein shakes. I love that it comes with 2 on-the-go cups that can be attached to the blender unit, so I can make a single serving shake at one time and not have a big mess to clean up.

Telling about surgery
@ I just blocked both of them so I don't see anything they say. Ain't nobody got time for their foolishness! cynthiarm2000, on 15 Nov 2014 - 22:24, said: OK, I think the only proper response in this situation is to report Steve and thesus2000 to the administrators of this board. I have already done so and the more people who do the more likely they will be to get kicked off. Secondly, I suspect that both of them are getting off on fighting the fight. They are drawing energy from the conflict. Therefore, it is best to ignore such people. Let them say whatever they have to say and don't respond. Don't let them make you lower your emotional vibration down to their level. If they make any more posts DON'T RESPOND, simply report them as being abusive and maintain your positive supportive attitude.
