  1. Jeez thanks on the ear plugs. I am a very light sleeper too.
  2. At least you will be in the hospital were they can take care f you. Blood clots are serious business. Each of us has a coagulating factor and some of us are more efficient at it. Nobody knows until you go through something like this. Just out of curiosity when you had your surgery do you remember who many shots of blood thinner did you get? Was it one before surgery and one each day you were in the hospital?
  3. Still doesn't work. This happened to me once before but went away a few hours later. I did notice your smiley face did not post as a yellow face as usual.Do you see that?
  4. Don't worry about it, your son won't remember and you can make it up to him @@Bronxmerci
  5. Hi, I know this thread hasn't been active in a while but I am also in Northern VA. My surgery is tomorrow at Fair Oaks Hospital with Dr. Matthew Fitzer. I am having a Bypass and I am READY. I was hoping to connect with you and would love to hear your stories.
  6. Can someone please tell me if they are having trouble with Bariatric Pal today. I am not able to access emotions (happy face icon)
  7. @@Bronxmerci So sorry, that's serious stuff. I am so glad you are at the ER. Thinking of you and hoping your recovery will be speedy.
  8. @@layknee You make an excellent point on the eating slower and tasting food. I have noticed that most overweight people I know tend to eat fast. I can tell you even on my pre-diet just eating slower made me fuller, with a longer feeling of fullness and grazing free.
  9. OMG @@Ettreanna You got hit by a car. What happened? And then surgery on top, you are my hero.
  10. Thanks, I'll need it. Pain and I are not best friends. I just hope I don't cry like a baby and embarrass myself to death.
  11. gallbladder stone?
  12. Way to go Sherri, I am very impressed you are out and about already.
  13. @@Ettreanna I can't help you since my surgery is next Tuesday but I hear for some people the nausea last a while. Are you allowed to have a nausea patch behind your ear. It's OTC at the drugstore but check with your doctor first.
  14. @@amylynns they did tell us our taste buds would change. That's were the unflavored protein will be great.
  15. @@misstvb My husband must be twins with yours. So, I am on my second day of clear liquids. In other words no chewing. Husband asks, what would you like for dinner? Duh, dinner, really! I'll take a glass of water, thank you.

  17. Yep, distraction is the game. Time to pull all the stops. As I like to say, there's a time for trying and then there's a time for nuclear weapons. I am parked near the "red phone." I will do what it takes. This is the battles of all battles for me and I do know this is only the early stages. I'm going in with eyes fully open in the understanding that things are going to get a hell of a lot worse before they get better.
  18. PEDIALITE - Remember we gave that to babies for dehydration. Wouldn't it follow that it would be good for us. We need to ask out doctors. But I can't see it being bad, if you can have Crystal light which has citric acid, wouldn't this be far better? It doesn't make sense to me that there's cramping with Water but not with Crystal Light. Could it be that with Crystal Light you know it's going to taste good and somehow it relaxes you in the expectation of a pleasant flavor. With water, you maybe thinking "I really hate water" and tense up as you drink. I know that's far out there. The only other thing I can think of is, when you wash your eyes with water it stings but with tear replacement drops it does not. Could it be that water has the same effect on the injured stomach?
  19. Well, aren't we early birds.
  20. Managed to go through an entire day with only liquids. I have a headache and can't sleep. Hope I can last 2 more days and all the way to 2:30 PM surgery on the third day. There are 3 bananas on top of the fruit bowl. Every time I walk by they call my name. I have tried to get the kids to eat them but no one will. Today they have to go. I can't even go in the kitchen. I cannot loose the battle to a banana. Non-conventional weapons for the fight: 1. After a major dig through Halloween costumes found a gladiator sword. It sits in "my new room" as a reminder 2. Purchased 50 shades of Grey. Usually not my kind of book. Anything to distract me, right? 3. Pedicure? Yes, I had one. I will probably have to remove the polish for Tuesday but for 1 hour I was food free 4. Tomorrow. I may have to cut the entire front lawn with scissors
  21. Yep, I'm up
  22. Word of the wise: Try them a few times before surgery I found out that I an intolerant of Whey protein. I thought I had a stomach virus but oh no, the pain returned every time I had some.
  23. Actually I had it two years ago and I cured it myself. It took some doing but it worked for me. I purchased new shoes with good arch support. Home - open toes Clarks Out - Easy Spirit slides and sports shoes with inserts. I NEVER placed my foot on bare floor. If I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom my Clarks had to be on my foot first and foremost before I even tried to get up. The spur that causes the pain has to heal, the only way it will is if the tendon doesn't pull on it. THis means you can't stretch it out by placing your weight allowing the arch of your foot to collapse. Not even once. It took about 6 months but I have been pain free for 1 1/2 years.
  24. Thank you for sharing. I have a thought, what about extending yourself into an area you always wanted to do or know more about. Or give back or even something as simple as maximizing the quality of your food for the most health benefits. What ever you decide, please share your findings a year out.
