So excited
Hi everyone, It's been a long time since I've visited the site but I thought I'd come over to share my recent success. I just hit my 8 month mark last week and as of today, I am down a total of 86lbs!!! I'm beyond thrilled! Please allow me to list all of the recent success that I've seen in non-scale form: * down to a size 16 from a 24 * I was able to get on the rides at six flags three weeks ago (it's been 7 years since I've been able to fit) * I fit on the plane, comfortably * I've been working out 2-3 times a week * I'm happy! Just needed to share, hope everyone is well!

I am stoked!
I just had my 4th adjustment appointment with my surgeon this morning. I couldn't stifle the laugh when he looked at my weight loss and said "Holy Shit, you lost 11 pounds!!!" I am a little over 4 months out from my surgery, and I am down 61 pounds (including the 2 week liquid phase prior) and I couldn't be happier. I am down from a size 24 to an 18. I am 245 pounds, a weight that I haven't seen in probably around 6 years. I am happy... simply happy. I did not expect the results to be this consistent, but I am happy I was wrong! Good luck to everyone out there - it can be done!!!

Getting the motivation to start working out
I actually just found one in Flushing Meadow park. Looks like it is $75 for 6 months! That is an awesome deal!!! Hours are good too - open every night until 10pm, except Sundays until 8pm.
-
how long did you wait?
My process was rather quick - 3 months from the first consultation to the time of surgery.

Getting the motivation to start working out
Thank you, ladies! I'd love to go to a pool, I think I'll look into indoor pool availability in Queens, that would be a refreshing outlet and one that my teenage daughter would love to participate in!

Getting the motivation to start working out
I'm posting this as a NSV, because for me (and I'm sure I'm not alone on this), motivation to start working out has always been my biggest struggle with weight loss... Today, I signed up with a personal trainer! I am going to be doing the sessions with my best friend, which is great because we are really good at supporting and motivating each other. I have always been scared about starting to work out because I've always told myself that I can't, that I'll do it wrong, I'll end up hurting myself, blah, blah, blah! I am putting my foot down now though, no more fear! I'm putting my big girl panties on (sidenote: must buy smaller big girl panties as the current ones are falling off), sucking it up and refusing to feed into the excuses I've always created for myself. I start next week, wish me luck!

Shoulder pain relief?
Still no "poof" yet Called my surgeons office on Monday and they said that it isn't common to last this long, but not abnormal either. That I just need to wait it out. I cannot express how frustrating it is to continue with this pain, and have no real end in sight. I am praying that it will go away very soon, tomorrow will be three weeks since surgery. Sigh...

Very excited!
Congratulations! Feels so good, doesn't it?! Same thing happened to me on Saturday. I actually put on a pair of my Daughter's regular size shaft boots and they zipped with no problem! My Daughter noticed about 5 minutes later and said, "Hey, wait a minute! Are those MY Boots?!" I said - YEP, get used to it! The days of her stealing all my stuff and me not being able to steal any of hers are coming close to an end! ::evil laugh::

Shoulder pain relief?
Hi - Today is 12 days post surgery and I am still having horrible, horrible shoulder pain. It actually comes in the afternoon around 2pm and then lasts until I go to bed. I am back at work so I have been doing plenty of walking. I don't have any other types of gas pains. I bought a heating pad to use while at work at as long as I have it on it will help it a little but it doesn't go away fully. Is 12 days normal for this pain?

Socializing while on puree stage
Thanks everyone, all very good suggestions. I'm sure I'm putting more thought into everything than I should and it will work itself out. Thanks!!!

Socializing while on puree stage
Good afternoon everyone, Today is my first day back at work since surgery. I am a bit tired but other than that, feeling okay. I was just told that my boss wants to take very important clients out to Celebrate a promotion we recently completed with them, to dinner! The dinner is scheduled for the 4th which is a full week before I am scheduled to start regular food, right now I am just staring the puree stage. I don't think it will be a good idea to not go to this dinner, as it will not look great for me professionally, but I am at a loss thinking about how I will be able to go out and eat and not look crazy for not eating what everyone else is. Anyone have suggestions?!

Day 8 and I feel Great
Thank you! I am excited about the road! My daughter, who is 14 told me the other day she is very happy that I decided to do the surgery and that she can't wait to see the outcome. If that isn't motivation, I don't know what is!!!

Day 8 and I feel Great
Corny headline, I know. Thing is, I really do feel great!!! I had my surgery on the 21st. The procedure went very well, my doctor even repaired a hiatal hernia! Two for the price of one!!! I did wake up from surgery to a very severe panic attack and then had a second one in the recovery room but the staff was able to calm me down very quickly. It was scary as I have never had a panic attack before, and even though I was able to rationalize what was happening to me, I felt as if that was the way I'd feel for the rest of my life! Ugh! So glad to be behind that!! I started feeling more like myself around day 5 even though everyone around me told me that I barely looked like anything happened to me I was handling myself so well. I actually don't feel like I have anything in me, which I know will change after the first fill. I am down a total of 23lbs since I started my liquid diet on the 7th, and that does feel terrific. I survived Thanksgiving dinner with not even feeling bad that all I had was Soup, something else that is terrific. And I am ready to go back to work and start getting back into the groove of things on Monday. Here's to more things that feel terrific!!!

Tomorrow is the big day and now I'm getting nervous...
so tomorrow is the day and I'm getting very nervous because at 2:30 I still don't have a call from my surgeons office to let me know what time I need to come in for surgery. They told me they'd call the day before and I'm trying to be patient but I don't think this is acceptable. Did anyone else have the same experience?

Day 2... I Got This!
Hi all - This is my first post on this forum. I just started my liquid diet, I am just finishing day 2. So far, so good. I don't want to jinx it, but I haven't had too much of a challenge. I am sure that will change, but I am thankful that I haven't had too much difficulty thus far. Anyway I guess I just wanted to put myself out there, and I welcome any tips or words of encouragement any of you fine people may have. My surgery is on the 21st. I am getting a tiny bit nervous but not so much about the surgery, more about the new me that I am going to become after it all. The unknown is unnerving and exciting all at the same time!
