  1. Sleeved 12/9/14. Recovery was much easier than expected. And weight loss has also been much slower than expected. ????. My HW was 235, CW is 191. I'm only 5'2", and my Dr warned me that he's often seen us shorter girls lose at a slower rate....which seems he's exactly right! Ugh! Had the worst 2 month stall, but thankfully I'm losing give or take 2/3lbs a week now. It's still been super frustrating! I understand this surgery wasn't meant to "fix" things, but it's really been a lot more difficult than I imagined. My body is soooo resistant....ugh!! Trying to stay positive.....I know I'll reach my goal, it's just going to take longer than anticipated. ????????
  2. Hiccups, or feeling like I need to hiccup, is my " full" sign. ????
  3. I had Only steri strips, which came off in about a week. No staples, no bruising. Amazed at how tiny the incisions were. Largest one is in my belly button, so not visible. That was the only one that was a little sore. But was by no means what I had expected. So impressed with my surgeons work. No regrets. Sleeved Dec 9. Down 22lbs and I feel great. Soooo thankful to have been free from any complications!
  4. Dr. Smolik @ Mercy Weight Loss. Approved through BCBS, surgery date, Dec 9 ????
  5. Me! Me! Me! Just got my insurance approval today! Scheduled for Dec. 9!! Yippee! My 2 wk pre-op starts before Thanksgiving....guess there's no Turkey & the works for me. I think I'll survive! ????
  6. Great post! Guess we're all a little freaky! Lol. Glad I'm not alone! I even bought a cute pair of shorts in my goal size today. Something to look Forward too.
  7. So excited! Was just told today that BCBS of Iowa has indeed changed their surgery prerequisites. I will be required to have one appointment with a registered dietician, along with a documented history of weight loss attempts. I will not have to complete the 6 months worth of diet & exercise counseling. So, basically, once I have my psych eval done, all other testing completed, and the pre surgery modules required by the bariatric center completed I can have my case submitted for insurance approval. I understand, the whole process could take some time, but I am Super excited that it's a good possibility I could be scheduled for surgery yet this year ! Keeping fingers & toes crossed!!!
  8. I have BCBS Iowa also, I was told I have the 6 months if diet/exercise counseling. Who can I contact to verify that this is actually still a requirement? It would be great if I could have surgery yet this year ! Any into or advice would be greatly appreciated!
  9. Just finished my first diet & exercise counseling appointment this week.... 5 more to meet insurance requirements. I'm completing the other pre surgery requirements in the mean time. I'm hoping surgery can be scheduled first part of feb, sooner would be better, but I'm not optimistic on a speedy insurance approval. (Let's hope I'm wrong, lol) I'm certain this is what I need to do for ME....but not so certain my husband will feel the same. I've talked to him briefly about my consideration for surgery, but really haven't discussed it at great lengths. Sitting him down this weekend for a heart to heart chat. I'm praying he's on board, and decides to be supportive. I'm hopeful he will be.
  10. I'm at the very beginning of my journey. 42 yo, proud mother of 5. Just made my first of 6 diet & exercise sessions. (Required by insurance) I enjoy coming here and reading about all the success stories. It gives me so much encouragement! I also find that reading about others experiences gives me a better idea of what to expect. For once I am excited about the future and ready to take on this challenge. Thanks everyone & keep the info & stories comin'
