Week 5 Post-Op
Happy New Year to everyone!! Just checking in for my week 5 post-op weigh in - This week is a loss of 0.... I had decided to allow myself the week off my blog so that I didn't have to come clean about my 0 loss. I've since realised that that is not the way to be and I need to be completely honest. Admittedly it has been a bit difficult with Christmas and New Year's celebrations, and combined with the fact that I am on holidays from work, eating just tends to be something you do to fill in the time. I definitely do not feel a lot of restriction after my first fill 2 and a half weeks ago, so I am very much looking forward to my 2nd fill on 23 January. I have read a lot about this and it is known as bandster hell... That time between having surgery and hitting the green zone with your Fluid fills - you feel like you can eat as much as you did prior to surgery - looking forward to getting past this phase. I still have another week and a half off work so I need to work on a few things between now and then. Anyway, to have lost 11.8kg in 8 weeks is still pretty good going and will work on shifting that by my weigh in next week. livelovelapband.blogspot.com.au Best wishes to everyone reading this and hope that 2015 brings all good things xxx

FIRST FILL.....NOTHING!
I am on a similar time scale to you. I had my surgery on 27 November and my first fill was on 15 December. I am finding that I have quite little restriction as well. Trying very hard to eat as if I have restriction but at this time of year with all that beautiful festive food around I am struggling. At least here in Australia it is summer and salads are quite enjoyable during the warmer weather. I am due for my 2nd fill on 23 January and really hope that I feel a great deal more restriction. I don't know how much Fluid was put in the band at my fill and the only info I have on the band size is that it is a 'small' band?? Good luck with everything...

Week 3 Post-Op Weigh In
Hi Keeper, pre-op I list 5.6kg and then 4.5kg in the 2 weeks of fluids post-op. I am finding that now I'm on the soft foods that I can obviously consume more calories.. I just need to learn to work with it.

Week 3 Post-Op Weigh In
So I jumped on the scales this morning for my weekly weigh-in. They did jump around a little to show a loss of either 0 or .6kg (600g). I am taking the .6kg. At first I was a little disappointed with this, but I need to embrace that slowly but surely is the key to success. So I've turned my frown upside down and am ecstatic with my total loss of 10.7kg... That's 23.5lb for those that don't use metric (sounds better too). I am also doing pretty well with my first fill that I had on Monday, I'm still in the soft food phase and have been chewing everything so so slowly. I haven't experienced any stuck episodes yet which I am totally thankful for. Have a great day everyone. livelovelapband.blogspot.com.au

FIRST fill this Wednesday! What should I expect?
I had my first fill yesterday and was also very nervous. Truly all I felt was a sting for about 20 seconds and that was it. I was also advised to have Fluid for the remainder of that day and then soft food for the next day or so (I am still in the soft food phase anyway so that was no different to me). I have noticed a difference in the restriction and today I am definitely getting fuller quicker. I hope this helps and good luck to you for Wednesday.

Week 2 Post-Op Weigh In
o today is my week 2 weigh in day and my loss for this week is.... 2.7kg!!! I am beyond thrilled as this takes my grand total to 10.1kg. I've done many diets over the years and I have not reached a 10kg total loss for about 20 years so this is a massive achievement for me. Week 2 also marks the beginning of the soft food phase for me. I am currently enjoying scrambled eggs with some cheese and tomato chopped up in it. As it has been 5 weeks since I've eaten anything remotely like this - they are the best scrambled eggs I have ever eaten in my entire life... So Happy Thursday everyone and enjoy!!! livelovelapband.blogspot.com.au

Your dream outfit
I have a gorgeous white cotton top with a blue floral motif on the front that I bought on holidays in Greece over 10 years ago - I have never worn it!! It's about a size 16 and I'm currently a 20-22 and that top is my first goal.. Being summer in Australia at the moment, I'm hoping to wear it at some point over the summer, and particularly when I go on a 4 day trip with some girlfriends at the end of February.

Who did you tell?
I have been pretty open about my surgery with my friends, family and co-workers. I did this for a couple of reasons, one being accountability and one being support. The only one I was nervous to tell was my Dad because we all know how Dad's can be about this sort of thing. My Mum told him for me and he, along with everyone else has been great. I had my surgery 7 days ago and I've had countless phone calls and messages of support which feels amazing. I haven't told all of facebook land because a lot of those people are just acquaintances and don't need to know that part of my life. I am really happy with my decision regarding this.

On The Flip Side
Thanks for your well wishes. Now on day 7 and I'm feeling much better. In fact the only soreness I have felt has been at the port site - I haven't felt a single bit of pain at the other incisions. The port site still hurts a bit, but from what I understand that will last a little while yet. I can move pretty freely and started driving again today which was amazing. In all I feel pretty great. I've had a few moments where I've suddenly thought that I may have overdone it at that time but that is really all. I've taken the dog for a few little walks, but not very far. The poor thing looks up at me as if to say "come on, is that all you've got? let's go further". I'm back at work on Monday which I am actually looking forward to.

6 Days Post-Op
I can't believe that it's already been 6 days since my lap-band surgery. I'm doing really well, still a bit sore but that is only at the port site, and I had been warned about that. I also get a fair bit of gas pain, but that is also to be suspected too. The hardest thing for me at the moment is the fluid diet. Living on juice, smoothies and soup is really very difficult and I can totally see how some people weaken at this point and eat solid food before the band has had time to settle. The thought of all the money that I've spent and that I have come this far already without doing the wrong thing is enough for me to continue on. I have one more week of fluids and 2 weeks of soft foods before I can live normally again. It isn't forever and will be so worth it in the end. On the day of my surgery I had officially lost 5.6kg on the Optifast diet which I was so happy about. I had expected a bit more but the Optifast program had bound things up a bit (so to speak) so that halted things a little. I'm also finding this to be an issue this first week post-op as well so I am expecting the first few weeks to move along pretty slowly. Once I am eating and exercising properly I am sure I will fall into a rhythm and will worry about it from then. I'll weigh myself tomorrow morning and let you know how I go. Anyway, thanks for reading and joining me on my journey xxx

On The Flip Side
Hi kids, well I am 2 days post-op and I am feeling pretty sore and sorry for myself. Everything went really well and my surgeon was really pleased with how it all went. The anaesthetic made me a bit nauseous for a while but we got rid of that and now the healing begins. I can't drive or do much exercise for a few days yet, but that will all come in good time. I know the real journey is just beginning and I'm really looking forward to it. My very good friend that stayed at the hospital right throughout my surgery has taken some pictures for me and I'll post them soon. I have noticed that having milk in my tea isn't sitting very well just yet so I'll be having broth, juice, black tea and Water for a couple of days at least. I'll check in again in a few days and let you know how I am going. Have a great weekend everyone. livelovelapband.blogspot.com.au

1 More Sleep
I can't believe it, my surgery is in only one more day. Everyone keeps asking me if I am nervous. I haven't felt it yet, just feeling excitement. I am sure that is a good thing... I will post a couple more before shots today, just to see the difference from the beginning of the Opti-fast program to now, so stay tuned... livelovelapband.blogspot.com.au

6 more sleeps
I am 6 days out from my banding and I am soooo excited about it.... Although, I think I am a little more excited to end this Optifast diet. I know it's strictly liquids for the first 2 weeks post-op but at least I can have more than just veges and the Optifast shake - looking most forward to a banana smoothie... Does anyone have any liquid meal suggestions for me???? livelovelapband.blogspot.com.au
