  1. I planned on only taking 3 days off following, with one full week of working from home( which I am fortunate is an option for me). Due to complications, I ended up taking a total of 7 days off with equal amount of working from home. My surgery was on 8/12 and I just went back to the office yesterday 9/4 and ended up staying a half day. With regard to bra, I too had hernia repair, but need to wear a bra...I also bought a reasonably priced "Spanx"-like tank top that hel everything tight and provided me comfort.

  7. As it turns out my pain was caused from an infection in my drain. I was admitted back into the hospital, the operated again and I stayed for four days, I am home now and have mild pain I one incision. As far as hunger...there is none! I am down 14 lbs from original surgery weight, which may not seem like a lot, but I started as a lightweight. So I am almost halfway to goal!

  11. I have taken pent ermine off and on for over 10 years, the last time being 3 months ago, after my band was un-filled and I literally could only fit into a few of my clothes after gaining 25-30 pounds. I was just revised from the band to the sleeve and 12 days post op, I feel wonderful. No hunger and none of the dangerous side effects of phentermine

  15. I was 160 at time that approval was gained. my doc was a true advocate, highlighting my comorbitities, family history, and chance of weight gain. Because I was lower weight my doc did not make my stomach super small, but I do understand that it is just a tool...to date loving it more than my band!!!
  16. Update...so 9 days out...first 7 were horrendous-pain, pain, pain...Pleased to see an 11 lb loss!

  18. I chose not to tell anyone either...I did not want any opinions or comments like " you took the easy way out"... No, I took control of my life with the new technologies that are available to me...I have had a band since 2005 and just converted to a sleeve last week...although feeling a bit battered at this moment, losing weight was the best thing I ever did for ME!
  19. Sorry to hear your story. I just revised from band to sleeve on 8/12. I had my band for 9 years and I also had a hiatal hernia. What was slated as a 90 minute surgery took 3.5 hours. Recovery with my band was simple, I got the surgery on a Thursday, was at an Easter egg hunt on Sunday and started a new job that following Tuesday. I expected similar pain...boy was I wrong! I am 6 days out and I have been up walking...not strenuous, but about a mile at moderate speed. I have been getting about 40-60 grams of Protein in via shakes, hi-protein chicken broth, hi-protein Jello, and Isopure--by far the jello goes down the easiest and thinner liquids hurt. My problem is sudden, shooting pains in my sides and my groin. It feels like a cramp, but doesn't tense and then ease it is just tense....heating pad helps some and I have been popping Gas x and prescription heartburn meds. What are theses sharp pains and when will they subside? Sometimes the belly binder helps and sometimes hurts. My stomach looks like I am 6 mos prenant and was even asked such when in the grocery store! I do not regret my decision, I just want to get moving...please advise. P.S. My post-op follow-up is Thursday and I still have a drain in place.
  20. Mine was difficult to get out too...what was supposed to be a 1.5 hour surgery was 3.5 hours long...surgeon said there was a lot of scar tissue. With the band I was up and moving within 2 days, back at work in 5 days. I an five days out now and will be working part-time starting tomorrow...but not sure if I will be able to do it.
  21. Just got band to sleeve revision 8/12/14. I lost 100 lbs with the band since it's insertion in 2005. Last year, it got so tight my reflux was crazy and I had a humongous esophagus. I have been up filled either partially or fully for a year and I gained 25 lbs. My starting weight was 248, lowest weight 141. I went into surgery weighing 170. I am five days out and in crazy pain...but not hungry at all!
