I need something for energy!!!!
My doctor recommended the same thing.... I just sat through their post op diet classes since i am not banded yet so I remember this being stressed for energy.

Taking weight loss pills before or after surgery
I was just curious if anyone took weight loss supplements while being banded? My doctor hasn't said anything about this being a no no I was just curious what the thoughts were on this and if it was beneficial at all.

Six month diet plan
I also have to do a 6 month regimen. I have bcbs of Minnesota. I am down to month 5 and have only lost 7 pounds. I havent really put in effort to lose much because I know im going on a liquid diet by my surgeon so I will lose more then... I plan on cranking it up tho this month and lose a few more. I don't think they will turn you down for losing 40 your BMI is too high to bring you down under the standard 40bmi I think. I would give the 6 months a valiant effort but I know what you mean that it will come back.. This time it wont tho because at the end of the 6 months you will be banded just think positive

Staying in Hospital
My surgeon says if you are feeling well and they don't see any issues they will let you go home the same day... But if you want to stay over night he always requests that in his preauth so it is covered.

If I loose too much wt before surg, will they cancel?
I have been a yo yo dieter all my life and I am very good at losing large amounts of weight. So I posed this very question to my surgeon and he said he uses the weight from the consulation.

Did the band cure your snoring?
Congrats thats a major accomplishment on the weight. I hope I can report that in the year or so to come :tongue2: Somedays I am just really tired so I am wondering if it is the snoring and this is an answer to yet another problem

Did the band cure your snoring?
Awesome and congratulations! I would love to quit snoring

Did the band cure your snoring?
When I was younger and thinner I didn't snore. I would say I started when I was about 25.... about the same time I hit more than 200 pounds. I have never been diagnosed with sleep apnea. I am told I snore loud though sometimes. I guess my question is has anyone noticed since they began to lose weight that they have quit snoring?

4 weeks out - what are you eating?
I am not even banded yet but all that sounds so good right now.

3 months post op
It's really like anything else... If you fall down you get up and keep going. Just because you made bad choices this week doesn't mean it's all over. You're definately gonna have to account for that if the doctor asks. Being honest is going to keep you honest... I have to answer to a dietitian each month so I have learned if I know I have to tell I don't wanna eat it You're doing great. Don't let a slip up get you down!

Can someone explain band sizes to me?
I have heard alot about the different sized bands too. I just haven't had a chance to talk to the surgeon yet to see if they knew what they were using and what the difference was.

uh oh ...
That sucks. We all have so many different insurances and requirements that it's really hard to compare stories of preop. I really don't like when the doctors push one surgery over the other

uh oh ...
My doctor told me to lose all the weight I wanted that he was going to use the weight from my first appt for insurance.

So hard to have patience when completing pre op requirements
Thanks Kat for the kind words. Sometimes you just have to blow off some steam! Congrats on your weight loss

So hard to have patience when completing pre op requirements
I have had a long hard road on the way to insurance approval... Probably not as hard as some but we all have our issues. I have BCBS of Minnesota. I was required to: Have BMI over 40 (I am 43) Medically supervised diet for 6 months Letter of recomendation from my doctor Proof of overweight for 5 years or more The medically supervised diet is the worst thing in the world it's taking forever and I resist the urge to call insurance daily to confirm that I have to do it lol. I have been to 4 appts for the diet and my 5th one is in less than 2 weeks! But I am going insane  I guess I am just venting because it's hard not to do a tour of foods!

Dr. said "no more protein shakes!?!?"
My doctor has already warned me that he recommends 1-2 protein drinks for 2 weeks after surgery but within a month he said you should just get all your protein from foods.

Were you required to lose weight before surgery? How much?
My surgery isnt until April sometime and all he has said is lose 5-10.. I have gained 2 since so now it's 7-10 lol

I have some dates!
Yeah I would love to see the results of what I scored haha But they said they were just gonna go with the newest results. I was asked tons of questions about: Would you hurt animals do you love your dad have you wanted to hurt a child do you eat wallpaper I mean the weirdest stuff.... If you truely failed the test I took you're way beyond mental help....

medicine/pill question
They make dissolveable strips I think I would go get those just to be safe.

I have some dates!
I made a thread in pre op about my phsyc eval that was on 1/8... I was really happy to do it and get it over with but I had a bad experience... in the end it has turned out ok tho. I was taking a written test that was multiple choice and got off one line that made a mess of the whole thing. I retook it and all was fine lOL

Paperwork being sent in NEXT WEEK!!!
Awesome and congratulations. I cannot wait till I finish my last 2 dietitian meetings so that I can submit for pre auth

Here to help make a decision...
Those are the exact reasons I chose Lap Band. My surgeon does both surgeries so he just let me decide which way I wanted to go.

What Kind of Protien Drink?
I can't for the life of me remember the name.... MY doctors office sells it. Suppose to be a tasteless protein powder that you can put into things like crystal light etc.
