  1. The 19th is approaching and that means SLEEVE DAY for many! I hope all goes well for those are going in.
  2. Great to hear that you are felling better Amazon. With your curent wieght being only 194, you should reach your goal weight hopefully in 2-3 months. Just make sure you stay true to your surgeon's plan and you will be there soon.
  3. Hey Laura. I am glad that everything is working out for you. A lot of us on here are due next week, YAY! Thanks for the encouragement and please post any helpful info on your journey.
  4. Wow! 81 pounds in like 2 months is awesome! You should be proud over there. Tell him to keep up the good work!
  5. Hello. This is a common fear. I asked my MIL yesterday if she get hungry. She had the RNY in 2011. She said that she does get hungry but it is not like pre-surgery. It could be lunchtime before she will get that way. She said if that is the case, she would treat it as Breakfast time. A lot of times she will have to remind herself to eat.She can only have around 1/2 cup depending on what it is. I hope this helps.
  6. Transformation is awesome! You are an inspiration to many. Thx for sharing.
  7. Hello. Maybe you should take a look at your food intake. Are you exercising? I started off by leaving off the carbs. Things like rice, Pasta, flour, and processed foods. Also, leaving off the empty calorie stuff like soda and juices.BC could be the problem but first just take a look at what you are doing. I hope this helps. I am not a doctor but I would like to play one on T.V.
  8. Girl, I am glad I was not there. That would have been torture for me as well. Did you have some ripe plantains with that? I do all the cooking over here for my family and it is easier now. I still have to make sure that I do not graze though, lol.
  9. Congrats Stacyfae! Please keep us posted.
  10. I am behind on checking in. Congrats to the folks that are sleeved for the month of August. For those that are approcahing their time, keep up the good work with the pre-op. Our day is coming soon and then we can be on the loser's bench. I am day 4 of my liver shrink diet. It is definitely easier today. The one thing that I was slacking on was the water intake. This is why I was so darn hungry on Monday and Tuesday, lol. I make sure that I drink when I am not eating and it helps with staying full. I also notice that I go to the potty(can you tell I have little ones?) more often then before. I assume beause there's not food in my tummy. I am eating my salad and breadless burger as we speak. This will be my only real meal for the day. I will probably do a spinach soup and protein shake around 2 or 3.Oh, and I also do my recumbent bike 6 days a week. I hope that everyone is doing well.
  11. This is a fear for me. Those cravings are worse for me when I have PMS. It seems the older I get, the worse it gets. I usually snap out of it after a few days and go back to my healthy eating. I am due for surgery on August 26th and I cannot wait. At least I can have sugar free pudding and pops as a snack. I think that will help me with my sweet tooth, I hope. At least you know what the problem is. Let the cravings go and go back to the basics. You will see the scale move then.

  13. Jz0917 thx for the broth suggestions. I have to go to the store today and will definitely try to pick up a few of those. I can have some veggies so that would be good in one of these broths. Sandy in Fl, three weeks of pre-op? Wow! I am on day three and I feel like I am starving like Marvin, lol. It has been a rough two days so far. On top of that, I am a grazer. A BAD habit that I need to kick. I have seen a lot of sleevers go to Tijuana for the surgery and they were very successful. Here's to August 26th!
  14. My surgeon did inform me that I will not be able to take my mini pill for like a month after the surgery. WHAT! Not trying to get preggers just yet doc, lol. But I am definitely looking for an alternative too.
  15. I agree with everyone. My NUT suggest that the sugars should be below 5 grams. I was drinking my mother's shakes called Premier Protein; sugar 1g, carbs 5g, Protein is 30! and the calories are 160. You also have the Atkin's shakes: calories 160, sugars 1g, carbs 6 and the protein is 15. I tried both of these shakes and I really like them. Pure Protein is good as well. I hope this helps.
  16. Hey guys! day two of the liver shrink diet. Yesterday, I was thinking that I was starving to death. lol. I mean, I can eat food but mostly veggies and I still have to be carfeul. I did make me some delicious spinach and onion soup. I also decided to eat an apple instead of adding 3 strawberries to my smoothie. I need food! How is everyone else doing? OH! Hi Kerri! Welcome to the group!
  17. It totally takes committment Jamie. It is hard to cook for a family of 7 and not be able to eat what they eat. But I decided a while ago that it was time to take care of myself. I am a pessimist at times and I just knew that the insurance was going to give me a hard tiime. So I put it in my mind to eat right and exercise with or without the surgery. This 2 week diet is a kicker though!
  18. I was told by my surgeon to bring it to use after the surgery. They will have you on a breathing machine as well. I think I am more nervous about post surgery. As long as they give me something to calm me before I go in, I am straight, lol.
  19. What I am still trying to understand about this WLS is that you have people weighing 400 pounds plus and they get the surgery done. But some doctors want you to lose a certain amount of weight in order to get it. I do understand that the liver must be small otherwise it can make surgery go south, am I correct? Anyway, for my last real meal, I wanted pot roast, mac and cheese, banana pudding and some kind of veggie. All homemade by my mother and brother. Didn't do the pot roast but everything else was awesome. I also went out to eat but stuck to Proteins and I did have some sushi. I was vacation and had PMS so I went a little overboard. But, my doctor was still pleased with my weight lol I am day 2 of my liver shrink diet!
  20. My surgery date is on the 26th. I have sickle trait and my PCP always said that I am anemic. I asked several times if it is due to my trait and the response was no. I am reading it online and really need it to be broken down in layman's terms. I wonder if my case is similar to yours? Can you send me a message please? THX
  21. Glad it well. I see you went with Dr. Needlemen. I am getting mine done with Dr. Mikami at OSU hospital
  22. That is awesome Barriej9! Keep us posted on your journey.
  23. Hello I am Monique. You are correct, I am having my surgery on August 26th as well. I started my liver shrink diet today as well and really working my recumbent bike, lol. The CNP told me yesterday that the exercise is good for the heart because during the surgeon the heart is taking a lot of stress. Seeing my surgeon yesterday was surreal. I was totally nervous but Dr. Mikami was awesome. I will be having my surgery at Ohio State University Hospital @10am. I am allowed 4 Protein shakes, salad with 2 tblsp of FF dressing, 1 small fruit, and a frozen dinner entree. My hubby got me the Ensure powder tub but the dietician said that the carb count was too high for my liver shrink diet. The carb count is 15 per serving. But he said it was okay for after the surgeon. I was a little confused on that one though. To my understanding, after the surgery you want less carbs as possible. In the beginning, I will be depended on the high Protein Shakes in order to get my protein in for the day. Any thoughts? I hope all goes well for everyone and thx for starting this blog for some added support
  24. Hello All. Just started my liver shrink diet today. I saw my surgeon yesterday and was nervous. He was awesome. answered all of my questions and even drew a pic of my incision sites. I thought with the liver shrink diet I was only going to have clear liquids, jello, SF pops. I am allowed to have salad(just salad) with FF dressing,1/2-1 cup of cooked non starchy veggies and small fruits as well. I also will have to drink 4 protein shakes and a frozen dinner entree for dinner. I am not too thrilled with the entrees because I prefer to have fresh meals. I will call my surgeon's office today and see if it is okay for me to have a lean protein and veggies instead. I am so excited about my August 26th appt and it is coming fast. I hope all goes well with everyone and may you have great WL success.
