  4. Can I join this topic? I'm so excited haha I am getting sips surgery, but I am also getting a sleeve which is part of the surgery
  5. Hello all! I am super excited I got approved and I am preparing for surgery. I have the following list of questions, can anybody care to add any that may be helpful that I am missing? Some questions pertain to nursing as I am still nursing my little one and want to carry on with that until March.
  6. sure ! SIPS= Stomach Intestinal Pylorus Sparing It's a modification and similar to the duodenal switch. I will be a revision surgery from a gastric plication
  7. I flew into Newark NJ, I had one transfer flight and it was a nightmare because it ended up getting canceled and I had to sleep in the airport overnight, not pleasant after surgery, thankfully, my sister took good care of me. If you are flying without a companion, aim for a direct flight and pack light. The flight itself was not an issue, even with turbulence. Remember to get up and walk down the aisle every hour or two. I also flew first class back and regular there, first time flying first class and I didn't get to eat the warm nuts but it was worth it.
  8. My flight was at 3:05, and we got to the airport at approximately 1 pm and we left at around 11:45 am (driver was running a little later because he had to drop off patients at occ) If your flight is at 3 it's fine, gives you a 2 hours buffer, the line for Americans to go through the border is shorter and I waited until I was in the building before showing my border crossing letter. There were several people who's flight didn't meet the timeline and they were accommodated
  9. I went back to work after a week and a half, I have a physical job so I was on light duty. I was a little sore, but otherwise okay.
  10. hey sprocket!! Your in good hands!! I had my surgery on sept 2nd with Dr. Ortiz, and everyday is getting better. Remember to take it easy, and try to get your liquids in small sips.
  11. You and Jamie are in my thoughts :hugs:
  12. Waiting to hear how you are doing! I will probably see you there this week too
  13. I've also tried to document my journey when I've started other diets, but that was mainly to keep myself on track, I was always hesitant about taking before pictures in my past because I didn't want to look at myself at that weight..and was afraid I wouldn't lose the weight. I went to a work event, got my photo taken! I'm planning on using that as my before picture because it's a full body pic. I'm ready for change and want to document everything this time from pics to weight and inches lost.
  14. Hi, I will be going for VSG Sept. 2nd, In addition to sharing posts on the forum that I feel will be helpful to others I would like to start my own blog so I can vent through this journey. Can you recommend a good site for blogging? What do you guys use? I feel awful, but now that the date is approaching, it's all I can think about. I have already given my family and boyfriend an earful and I'm sure they are sick of hearing about it, but it is just so hard not to keep on bringing it up, my thoughts are constantly wandering to it. Thank you =] I woud also love a buddy to be able to touch base on this subject, kind of like the buddy/mentor idea.
  15. It would be an excellent idea to make a template with dates in excel to make it easy to track.. I have been writing everything on paper.
  16. Very interesting, thank you for the informative post!
  17. I wouldn't consider WLS if your eating disorder isn't under control. I have experience with both eating disorders and yoyo dieting but I have much more than 40 lbs to lose (more like 80.) I expect old ugly feelings to resurface once I start losing weight and I am preparing myself by having the necessary support system. The real question is would you even qualify with less than 40 lbs to lose? what is your bmi?
  18. I sprouted a few grays my senior semester of college. Chem major problems lol
  19. Melanie, you are better off following phase 1 atkins then switching to low carb Protein shakes, forget lean cuisine. This way you can also start cooking some recipes that you can use post op Shawshank redemption is a great movie! A classic actually.
  20. I agree, don't let anybody tell you it's cause of the way you look, that's silly, sometimes it is better to listen then try to fight it though.. I've learned the hard way! Lol I got measured for new uniforms today at work which we are not getting for at least a month after my surgery, to be honest I was happy because I was thinking by the time I get them I'll be at least 4 weeks post op and they will be big on me the girl there was kinda annoying, I really hate when skinny people use their size as a way to measure you. She looked at me said she's a medium so I must at least be an XL, when I told her my pant size she insist I try something 2-4 sizes bigger. A
