    very frustrated - can't eat

I was where you are now a few days back!! Nothing stayed down, not even water. I lost 20 lbs in 3 weeks and was just completely drained. Your dr should be able to do emergent same day visit. Don't wait. The longer you throw up ( I'm sure its violent ) the more the area around your band will swell until it closes up. That happened to me a few years back and had to get completely unfilled for 3 months. Not pretty. Best of luck.

    Need advice on fill

I fly all the time and have no issues. I have had my band for 10 years. Leave it alone. You'll be just fine!
  5. I've been a lapband patient for 10 years and just moved to Buckeye area in March. Would love to know if there's any groups out in my area that get together for meet & greets, excercise, etc.

    West phoenix sept banding

I'm in Buckeye and have been banded for over 10 years. Reinventing myself after gaining 45 lbs! I'm now 10 lbs down and feeling pretty awesome.

Lap Band doesn't let healthy food down

I too have issues in the morning and lunch, but can keep down liquids. I do a Protein shake for breakfast and lunch, then a sensible dinner. Keep in mind that changing habits is a mindset. Before we were used to eating whatever we wanted with no consequence. With the band, we have to reprogram our brain. Here's what I do: No bread, no rice, no carbonated drinks (goodbye my dearest Dr Pepper!) I use a small plate or bowl when I serve myself. I put my fork down in between bites and chew chew chew. No drinking before I eat and I wait at least an hour to resume drinking (or else I find myself praying to the porcelain God!). It's hard......not even lying, but well worth the journey we decided to take when we had surgery. Let us know how you're doing now! I'm curious since your initial posting here!

    Stumbling a little

That's where I was for a while! Hungry all the time despite how much Fluid I drank. How've you been doing since your appointment on the 26th? Any restriction yet? I finally had mine refilled after several years and WOW what restriction I have! Let us know how you're doing now! Best of luck as we are all in this journey together!

    Starting again.....time to reinvent!

Here's my weekly update! My band was filled to 3 cc's on Monday Aug 4th. I left the doc's office feeling pretty good after keeping down 8 oz of Water before I left. An hour later........MASSIVE MONSTER HICCUPS!!! It was HORRIBLE. (kinda forgot what those were like! I was unable to keep anything down including liquids by that evening. Pain in my stomach was pretty bad that night and I had to sleep elevated. It brought back memories of having the band put in initially 10 yrs ago. ARGHHH!!! I don't think I was prepared for that! By Wednesday, all resolved it self, I'm keeping my liquids down. Protein shakes are agreeing with me and I was able to move to mushy foods by this past weekend. I have lost quite a bit of water weight and am a little dehydrated due to the restriction, but now moving in the right direction. (10 lbs gone.....I KNOW this is water weight!) Living in AZ, we drink water like crazy because it's so FREAKING hot!! LOL I have an appointment with the doc in 2 weeks. PB's have been helpful and I am encouraged once again to be moving in the right direction. The added 45 lbs has put a lot of stress on my hips (thanks mom for your bad hips.....appreciate it!) and my knees. I'm looking forward to walking around the block with my fur babies and not be in pain as much! As for AROSE, my doc stated we can remove the band and replace if the insurance will agree to pay. The newer bands are better than what we have (mine is also a 5 cc band). You have to be off band for 3 months before they will replace it though (at least with my doctor) and he stated he doesn't want to see weight gain during that time. SELF CONTROL!! lol It's all a matter of what you are looking to do. You've already lost 15 lbs. That's such a great start and it seems you are on the right path. Eat right, use small plates, drink fluids after eating! I think you'll find that you will lose those 15 lbs and probably a bit more now that you've found the right doctor. Good luck to you! Let me know how you do!
  11. Definitely a veteran in the lap band arena! I've had my band for 10 years this October 6th! WOW!!!!! I've done really great and went from 279 lbs to 155 lbs where I stayed for many years. It's an amazing ego boost to look at your old Size 22 pants and realized you are in a Size 8. (yes....was feeling good about myself!) Two years ago, I went through a horrible divorce and moved halfway across the US. Was under a tremendous amount of stress, worry, you name it....yep that was me! I have gained 45 lbs in the last 2 years. I've decided I will NO LONGER be complacent and am taking control of my life again. I found a great doctor in my area who has unfilled me, completed an endoscopy, and will be filling my band again this Monday, Aug 4th! I'm committed to staying the course, excerising regularly and taking control of my nutritional needs. I'm ready for a new, happy and healthy, me!
  12. Congrats!! I too fell off the wagon and my band was put in 10 years ago this October! WOW!!! Can't believe it's been that long!! In last two years I've gained 45 lbs....so finally found a doctor who is putting me back on the straight and narrow. Just had the endoscopy done to check my band area a week and a half ago. First fill in 5 years on Monday!!! YES!!!!!
