  1. Im in northwest la! Getting sleeved September 9th!
  2. I have a few questions for some veterans... I'm 4 months post op. How much could YOU eat at that point? I feel as if I'm eating too much and I'm thinking about trying a liquid diet for a week or so to try and get myself back on track.. Does that sound like a smart idea or Is there maybe something else I could try? Also, has anyone suffered from depression after surgery? Some days it's just so hard to get out of bed, to be happy, or to do anything really. I'm a lot more emotional than I used to be.. Which I hate. I wasn't like that before surgery, I had self confidence issues but nothing like what I feel now.. if Anyone that may have dealt with it offer me some insight on what I could do to change it without having to take anti-depressants? I absolutely love my sleeve and I don't regret it what so ever, but these are my two biggest struggles that I feel are holding me back from my full potential. Thank yall in advance!

    4 months post op

After hearing that, I think I may just be over reacting with the food part.. I eat about that much. It just seemed like over night I went from barely being able to intake a couple bites to being able to eat 3/4 cup of food. I should however start measuring my food again. The holidays have messed up my eating habits but thankfully getting back on the right track is easier than it used to be. I plan on calling my dr Monday and see what options I have with my depression. Thank yall so much!

    Alcohol intake

I had my surgery sep 9, last weekend my friends wanted to go to New Orleans for the weekend, so we did. I had a Jell-O shot and a few sips of a friends daiquiri (I know, very unhealthy) I was pretty much hammered, but my stomach handled it well. They mainly tell u not to drink because your body will be looking for another addiction to grab onto. Also, alcohol can dehydrate your body so just be sure to drink lots of water. It was fun, but I doubt I'll be making it a habit.

I've tried genepro. That's what I currently use if I don't get enough throughout the day or something but I don't chose to use as an everyday thing. I hate powders and it's been easier to get down than any other powder I've tried, but a powder can only be so good.. I've found that if u mix it with something really cold like a smoothie or slush or really hot tea or coffee it tastes better.

    Anyone 21 and doing this

Ur moms got a good name! Lol well before surgery I bought some GENEPRO Protein powder (it's best mixed with hot tea or coffee) and Protein shakes to try and boost my protein intake, I don't think it actually helped with the surgery, but it helped get me used to all the not so wonderfully tasting protein supplements I got to look forward to post surgery. I feel great that I had the surgery! Of course the first 12-24 hours are the absolute worse, but once you get past that, the pain subsides and Ull be up and walking pretty soon. I know not all drs put in drains, but if u end up getting one, just know that if your in pain after the first day, it's most likely cause by that. Or gas. Ull hear it all over this forum, but it's for a reason! after surgery, walk walk walk!! It's the only thing that will relieve gas pain! I'm still on the full liquid stage right now so I can't really share anything I've enjoyed since surgery except sugar free Jello. Lol if ur a reader, bring a book. I brought my cell, books, and laptop to the hospital with me, I don't think I even took my laptop out of my bag the whole time I was there (which was only 3 days, 2 nights) I slept a lot of the time or I was roaming the hall. Since my brother was there with me I walked to his room a lot and we just say and talked about how weird we felt, or where we were having pain, etc. we were still in shock that either if us actually went thru with it so there was a lot to talk about. good luck to you!

    Anyone 21 and doing this

Hey samantha! I'm Michelle, since I'm only a week out I don't have too much experience with post surgery. But anything pre surgery, just ask! Ur welcome to message me or email me at shell425@yahoo.com. What stage are u at? Have u gotten a date for surgery or are you still looking into it?

Me and my mother are both getting vsg

My brother and I had ours a day apart last week! Be sure to have someone help y'all around the house! He doesn't live with me but for the first couple of day after surgery we both stayed at my dad's house! It's awesome to have someone close to you that u can compare the healing process with. Just be in mind that though you are related, your bodies may be different. Meaning your mom may be up and walking around like my brother was way before you. It took me a few days longer to be able to walk around the block or get out and move around whereas my brother was up and at it his second day home!! Good luck to y'all!
  11. Yay congrats! I was sleeved a week ago and this is such an inspiration! You look great!
  12. I've never had kids so idk what all that feels like, but for now that was the worst pain I've ever been they. I'm now almost a week out and I honestly think it was all worth it! I've already lost 10lbs and I feel pretty much back to normal! A little soreness here and there but it kinda feels like I did too many sit ups.. I didn't mean to scare you, but I didn't wanna lie to either! Hopefully u have a more pleasant visit than I did!

Great job! You look great! How much did u start at?? I was sleeved 6days ago and would love a mentor! I start full liquids tmro but all I want to do Is bite into a piece of grilled chicken! What did u do u boost your weight loss and what kind of vitamins and protein did u use?
  15. I'm 5 days out and most of the time I feel great. Not great enough to go walk a few miles, but I'm not ness uncaring feeling anymore severe pain. I can't wrap my head around how some can get out and do so much! I drink plenty of water and intake as much protein as I can, but a simple trip to walmart or a walk around the block leaves me dizzy and light headed! To my doctors standards I'm doing great but maybe I'm missing something??
  16. Yes, as soon as I got into recovery I woke up and I could tell my pain meds hadn't kicked or else they gave me very small dose. As soon as my eyes opened all I could do was cry until they finally found the right mixture of meds to make the pain reduce. I also had a nurse that was pretty rough with me and I finally had to ask her to leave me alone. I got out if surgery about 12, out of recovery about 2:30 and the pain finally subsided enough to walk and use the restroom at about 7
  17. Well I has my surgery yesterday! I'm not gonna lie, the first day was hell and I continuously questioned whether it was worth it. But today has been the total opposite! I've walked down the halls and am using the bathroom regularly. As I watch tv I see nothing but food commercials but I think my mind knows that chomping down on a big burger just practical anymore so even though I see it, I just don't crave it. Hopefully it stays that way!!

  19. I had never been put under before my EGD, so I was terrified but it was so easy and quick. I was crackin jokes with the dr after I woke up. I haven't bought any vitamins yet but my next dr appointment I'll be getting some! My nervousness went down a lot after the egd, but now that I know what it's like to be put under, the biggest thing I'm worried about is waking up after surgery in pain! I trust my dr and I'll continue to hope and pray that everything goes smoothly!
  20. Hey! About to add you on Instagram as soon as this posts. I'm 21, will have my surgery on the next Tuesday! The 9th.

    September buddy wanted

My date is September 9, I'm pretty sure I'm exaggerating how bad this diet is, but I'd honestly rather eat Brussels sprouts than any of these nasty drinks and protein bars :/ hopefully this last week goes by quickly!

    Any one from lousisana?

Lol finally someone else from the boot!
  23. So I've read on a few posts about people like me that chose not to make their surgeries a publicized ordeal.. What stories did y'all tell ur bosses, family, friends, etc. to cover up for the hospital stay and time off from work? I've chosen not to tell my boss because he's very judgmental with even the smallest of decisions and his opinion just isn't needed in this life choice. I just simply said I was taking a "vacation" but I want to hear what others told their peers.
