I Have No Motivation That Pushes Me
I know exactly where you are coming from. What kept me going, even at my highest weight... I held down a job. I had to get up and go to work. It was a daily struggle, my feet hurt, my knees hurt, tired and did not feel good. There were a lot of days that I called into work because I just could not push myself any further. Right after the surgery I did not want to leave the house and did not want to move. I set infront of the TV for the month that I was off work. Of course I was loosing weight slowly and stalling because I was doing absolutely no exercises and had every excuse in the world still. As the months have passed....I have started feeling better. I have started parking further from my building and forcing myself to walk four times a day to my car and back. It has been five months now and I'm starting to feel decent again. Everyone at work has made comments about me getting around a lot better (I would sit at my desk all day and wouldn't even get up and go to the bathroom because the bathroom was too far away). I bought an ellipitical peddler for under my desk and I use it several times a day. I have some weights that I lift when I sit infront of the TV. I have more energy now and each day is better. I am getting a shot the next three weeks in both of my knees and then hopefully I will be more mobile. You have just got to make up your mind just the same as you did when you decide to get the surgery. Go back to what motivated you to do the surgery.....was it to live? be healthy? for your children? sick and tired of being sick and tired? and use these motivations to get you up and moving. Get into a local WLS support group. This will really help you when you see and hear other people going through the same thing. You can do this and we got your back!!!

Refrained beans?!
I thin mine out and eat them like a Soup with a little cheese on top. If you are just starting the soft foods...it will be easier to go down.

Honest truth about genepro protein powder
Everyone has their own choices and no one is making you use it. For myself, this is what works out best for me. I cannot choke down anymore chaulky Protein powder drinks. Isopure left an awful metalic taste in my mouth. The whey shots were the worst tasting I have ever tasted. Like I said this is what works for me....it may not for the next person but I am very happy with it and my blood work is good.

Honest truth about genepro protein powder
My main problem has been learning to eat slower, smaller bites and chewing enough. Chicken breast is too dry . I can take a few bites of dark meat.. but most meat comes back up. I have to have lots of sauces or gravy to eat any type of meat for the moisture. I have here lately been able to go by Chick Fila and get six piece nugget for breakfast.. 23 grams of protein...if I eat real slow I can keep them down...I can usually tell by the second bite if I am going to be able to keep the meat down...it just weighs heavy. I have read on here that pork is hard to digest and steak is the easiest. Lots of people eat a lot of jerry but I haven't been able to because it is just too dry

Honest truth about genepro protein powder
I had my blood work done last month. I was right on target with my Protein. I use GENEPRO daily. I may occasionally go by a Protein Drink shop and buy a shake. I depend at least 65-75% of my protein from Genepro.....I am still having problems with meat. Greek Yogart is too sweet.....so I rather use Genepro.

What to ask the doctor.
Get in writing exactly what you are paying for. I was a combination of self pay and insurance. I thought the doctor's fee included everything. I have been over whelmed with all the bills that I have received. I got one for the doctor, the hospital, two or three more that I don't even know who they are.....I have heard of other people getting bills after they pay upfront to the doctor and they sent them back and told them it was paid to the doctor. Mine is all messed up because insurance was involved......go figure???

Venting about bad news
There is a surgeon in my town that is well known and is suppose to be one of the best. I had a stomach stapling in 1980 and it was not successful at all. I went to this doctor several years back.....first thing he said to me was I really hate doing revisions. It made me very uncomfortable. If he hated them that bad .... then I did not have confidence in him operating on me. It took me several years to be able to have the revision. (Mainly alot of it was self pay). I had to travel 400 miles to have my surgery......but I have no regrets and I feel they took very good care of me. The minute the doctors looked at my records......he said this is what needs to be done and mapped it all out for me. He came across very confident which reassured me and made me at ease. It is very important to have the right doctor that you have confidence in.

What's for breakfast?
You can make egg muffins and freeze them individually. What you put in them is up to your taste. I like candian bacon and green chilis in mine. Zap them in the microwave and they are good to go! I also eat cottage cheese sometimes for Breakfast.....it is high in Protein.

Skipping puréed and going straight to soft!?!?
Just becareful.....it is a trial and error at first to see what you can eat. It took me the longest to be able to eat. Take real small bites (use a baby spoon) and time your self. There is an app "eat slower"....I am still working on this! When I go more than four hours between eating, eat too fast or do not chew enough.....I tell people that I foam like a mad dog....LOL

Age 50 or over (or anyone)
I will be 62 this month. I had DS surgery in June of this year. This is something I wanted for me. Tired of being tired!.......still working....still raising kids and tired all of the time!

Refried beans and cheese
Be sure to use some broth or Water and thin them out the first time you eat. I made mine to nearly like Soup at first so it would go down smoother. I could not eat salsa......your taste will change tremendously. I still cannot eat black pepper or spicey food.....I use to salt everything before I even tasted it.....now I use very little salt....everything tastes salty to me.

Been a rough few weeks! Don't ignore your body.
Thank Goodness....you knew to listen to your body that something was wrong! I know that was scarey. I had one when I had emergency hysterectomy....ended up in ICU and they telling my husband that they did not know if I would make it thru the night.....that was back in 1993. They put in a IVC filter as precautionary when I had my WLS. Praying everything goes well for you and your WLS is a success for you.

Ugh....here we go again.

Protein Shakes
I'm not a argumentive person and don't claim to know everything, I have drinked Protein drinks for years, but after surgery I got where i could not gag another Protein shake down.....could not stand the after taste of Isopure and I tried a closet full of others. GENEPRO has been the best for me. I love it,....no after taste and I am able to get all of my protein in for the day. What works for me may not work for someone else. I was just trying to give a helpful hint to someone else going through this journey....which we are all here to help each other. I wish you the best.

GENEPRO http://www.musclegen.net/ .... this is oderless and tasteless and does not clump. You can add it to hot or cold....or just sprinkle over your food. This stuff is great. One tablespoon equals a scoop of whey and has 30 grams of Protein. It is approved by John Hopkins and has 96% absorbtion. You can also order it from Amazon. I fix a Crystal Light and add an scoop.....keep it on my desk and sip on it all day. You can order samples from their site at http://www.musclegen.net/ . Please I could use some support.
You need to get up more and move around. The longer you wait between intervals the more it will hurt. I know you don't want to hear this right now but you have to get up and move. I had my family pulling me up and down at first, then I didn't want to depend on them. Had my husband to move a wooden rocker into the livingroom that was higher and easier for me to get out of. I hurt for a good while....even thought something was wrong. Then one day I woke up and did not hurt anymore........NUT told me that it was a trial and error to find what you can eat. I didn't think I would ever get where I could eat anything. Soup became my best friend. Just remember to eat slow (use a baby spoon if possible so you will take smaller bites) and chew chew chew.

Please I could use some support.
Sometimes eggs are hard to tolerate. I tried a poached egg several times....then tried a scrambled and could not do either. I now can do a soft center fried egg....I use a non stick pan, but I had a DS and we call this a slider food. You might want to thin the beans out at first. I had to make mine nearly soupy to tolerate. It is a good protein source and you can add cheese.

Weight loosing stall
It will shock you one day like it did me and drop on the scale. For right now stay off the scales....they are not your friend. I try to weigh on once a week so I won't be disappointed. As long as you are dropping sizes it is working. When someone asks me how much weight I have lost....I just say I don't know....haven't been to the doctor lately??? That way I don't have to explain anything!

Weight loosing stall
The first month you need to concentrate on healing. If you do everything you are suppose to do the weight will come off. We put our body through a lot. I also felt like I was loosing slower than everyone else.....I stopped and realized....well they are 20 years or more younger than me and I have bad knees and not exercising like they are. I went thru a 6 week stall. I was so disappointed and frustrated....scared it was not going to work for me. During this time I was loosing inches. Write everything down (I use My Fitness Pal), make sure you are getting your Protein and Water in. I was constantly told to up my protein for weight lost. Couple of weeks ago I went to the Dr. and had dropped 23 lbs in two weeks. Then this morning I weighed 8 lbs less. WooHoo! I found the shakes I was drinking were also full of sugar......this will make a difference. I made sure I didn't eat anything white....bread, potatoes and rice. If we don't watch it....while we are discouraged.....we will start snacking on the things that got us this way!!! Good Luck on your journey. Just keep telling yourself you can do this!!!

Herbalife
I was getting a Herbalife shake in the morning and adding my Protein to it. I thought I was doing good and getting in 60 grams of protein. Then my NUT told me that your body can only absorb 25 grams of protein at one time. I needed to spread my protein out more through the day. I also was on a long stall.....checked the Herbalife (I was getting a Chunky Monkey).....according to My Fitness Pal it had 50 grams of carbs!!!!! I just use GENEPRO to get most of my protein in now.
