  1. thanks sue and cheri52 for your encouragement and would appreciate some ongoing support!!! I am a curves drop out (over the last 3 years) so it's interesting to hear of the new workout there. I have a left foot (bone spur/plantar fascititis) so even walking has become difficult. I had some pt prior to surgery to work on this issue to hopefully resolve it but it's not...so more to do there. And, did water aerobics in Jan/Feb...that was ok but costly. i so *get it* that exercise is needed and have had good results from it in the past when motivated...and frankly, why do this if I don't intend to get moving, right???? it's attitude adjustment time fo rme... Dr Nepomnayshy did my lb surgery and my first fill is scheduled for May 19th. I've only had Corinne for pre op appts but my fill appt is with Pam. nervous about anyone touching my port incision area...perhaps by appt time this will not be an issue. thanks for 'listening'!
  2. Hey everyone...not sure I've ever checked in here but looking to connect with Massachusetts bandsters! I have been reading your comments with interest. I was banded on April 7, 2008 and now 3 weeks post op...having difficulty motivating myself to exercise. Otherwise doing well - some 'pain' around port incision at various times throughout the day but seems normal from what I've read from the main forum. My first fill isn't scheduled until mid-May so trying to eat as directed but don't feel 'restriction' so don't think the band is yet the tool it's meant to be. I live north of Boston and had my surgery at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. Encouragement welcome...adjusting to a new normal.
  3. boy can I relate! I was banded on April 7 and have been de-motivated to do any exercise...and my only ongoing 'pain' is around my port incision - really gets sore as the day goes on. your message hit me as it's all in my attitude...if I'd get up and walk I would feel better about it.... thanks for the inspiration! this is a new normal and a new journey for us both...best wishes on your new you!
  4. I think this is a good question for your doctor...I also travel for work and was told by my doctor to allow 3 weeks recovery before air travel to avoid blood clots.
  5. I'm jumping in here...I was also banded on Monday and feel great relief about how food commercials are affecting others as well as me. My incisions are healing and starting to itch. I say yes to when I swallow that I feel a heaviness in the center of my abdomen but not in my chest. In fact, I feel quite bloated in my abdomen right now and wonder if this is gas? Have had gas but no bm...concerned about that but hear it's normal. I am not a back sleeper so finding comfortable sleeping position has been hard. looking forward to better days ahead...
  6. banded on monday and surgery took longer than expected due to enlarged liver and difficult to hold it back or work around it.very dry mouth and lips in recovery room. hard to find comfortable laying down position (not a back sleeper). so far so good at home. not horribly hungry and not too 'gassy' but no bm yet either. incisions starting to itch. percoset helping with pain.
  7. Hello - banded this week....4/7 and incisions starting to ITCH...what can I do?

  15. Hi all...just attended a seminar last night about lapband surgery...sobering and scary. I've made an appointment for a day long consultation in early December. attending weight watchers but not going well. I don't know if I can go through with this or not. What I do know is that there's more to life than what I'm living. encouragement appreciated. :help::eek:
