  1. I am doing the surgery IYH on Oct 6 which is btwn Rosh Hashana and Yom Kipper. I am going to be on the liquid diet for Rosh Hashana and Sukkos I am going to be post op and again on the liquid diet. I hope that I can hold myself back from eating anything I shouldn't and can't eat. I am not too worried about Yom Kipper since i will just drink as much as I can before the fast. What does everyone else think?????
  2. As everyone said above the cyst are just one factor for pcos. I have had it basically forever wasnt dx until I got married and ttc. I had many years of fertility treatments and many unsuccessful cycles. I finally did the surgery after 7 years of tx and nothing working and the dr told me that I was tooo overweight to get pg it would be dangerous. I am thank g-d pg now still early but I am thrilled. btwn loosing weight and going to the chiroprachter I got pg naturally.

    Due Feb 2011

I am also due in Feb and I havent told a soul but of course my dh. I am so nervous bc I had a miscarriage already once and eventhough when I went to the dr he said everything was great adn that the fetal heartbeat was strong im terrified of not making until the 2nd trimester. I am so happy I have others to talk to who understand my concerns. What did everyone do about prenatal vitamins? I found small ones but they made me sooo nausous and I even threw them up? I think I am going to ask my dr what to do when I go back next week.

  6. I am only about 5 1/2 weeks and I got an unfill today of 1.8cc. I was sooo tight that yes fluid was going down but sooo slowly. I am soo nervous about this pg its my first and I have been ttc for 8.5 years. I did the surgery to help me loose enough weight so that I could get pg without treatments and guess what it happened. I am so happy I have everyone here to help me with my questions.
  7. I can't believe that we are almost up to a year since we had the surgery. Is anyone planning to do anything for this special occasion? How much has everyone lost? How was everyone doing? Let me start I did the surgery Oct 6 08 and have lost 120lbs. I have no special plans as of now for that day but maybe dh and I will try to go out to eat. I have such a hard time eating so well maybe I just will make something special for supper that night. I am feeling like a totally different person I can't believe that I could feel this good. I have had some rough patches but I can't complain when I have really lost this much weight. I hope to hear from everyone else.
  8. I just found out that I have arthritis in my lower back and I think it has gotten worse since I have lost weight. I assume that I had it before though eventhough I never knew about it.

    For Orthodox Jews

I lost so much recently b/c I was too tight. I just had .5 cc taken out on tues and now I feel better and I can actually eat and have some strength. I eat matzah every week on shabbos since challah doesn't go down at all. This going to be my first pesach with the band and I am not even going to be home for it I just hope that nothing happens.

    First Fills

I had one fill already and am having my next in about 1.5 weeks and I really feel I could use it sooner but they told me that I have to wait. I was soo not restricted before my first fill I was able to eat everything and was always hungry. I am now not always hungry but I feel that I can still eat too much. I want to tell them to add 4cc this time. I had two cc from before surgery and then I had two cc added in my first fill. I was told not to leave until I can make sure I can swallow so that I wouldn't have to come back if I couldn;t keep up at least water down. well I hope that they fill me up. I have 30lb in 7 weeks which I know is good but I wanted to loose more.

    Silly question

I was only banded a few days after you and I also lost 25lb. but I am happy with what I have lost since that means that the band is working and that I am on the right track.

    Frist fill today, OUCH!!!

I am going for my first fill today and this 5 weeks and 2 days after surgery. I can't wait. I want to fill resticted as I have only lost 25lb. since surgery and I really was hoping I would have lost more. But I know it is going to be slow so I am taking it as it is. I hope that I will loose some more weight now before I have a family occasion in two weeks and I want to fit into something really nice.
  21. I am a little bit embarrassed to write about this but I am two weeks post op and I tried having sex with my dh and I was in so much pain in my stomache in the area that the insecions are. NY doctor questions

I have a great dr that recommends the surgery highly. He is great and really nice. His staff is a bit nasty but its worth it b/c he is sooo nice. e-mail me and I can give you name and phone number.
  24. Hi I had my surgery on Oct 6 I just found this post and wanted to post my story. Well I had to be in NYU at 8 for a surgery time of 10. I got up really early like 5:30 am and was too nervous to go back to sleep. So I took a shower and decided I was going to finish packing up then crawl back unto bed until dh came home from morning prayers. Well I was still too nervous so I didn't fall back to sleep but i rested and tried to relax and watched some news. Dh came home and we made him some sandwitches for lunch. We then were on our way at about 7am. We got in at 7:30am and signed in and waited for them to call my name. They called my name verifed ins and gave me my hospital band. Shortly after I was called into a pre-op room. Where we waited for a while both dh and I dozed off. Then the nurse came in checked vitals, then the dr came in to say hello and then the anesestholigist came in to just have me sign a paper that I allow to treat me. I change unto the gown which I really hate!!! Anyways then they call me in to go to the OR. I have to walk to the OR but I tell them I can't see without my glasses. so the nurse walks with me guiding me as I give dh my glasses when I get to the last door dh can come with me to. I lay on the table and get my arms strapped down. I see a horrible bright light in frount of my eyes which I can't handle. I they put the IV line in and the mask and before I know it I am out cold. Next thing I know I am in recovery. I have a really nice nurse who is sooo sweet and very helpful. I tell her I am in a lot of pain adn she gives me morphin and then I doze off again. Then my DH comes in and gives me my glasses and my cell. I ask how long surgery was and he said it was an hour and it went really well. I am thrilled. I keep dozing off and on and I finally get not too tired and I realize I was in recovery for a long time and ask when I am going up to a room. They say the rooms aren't ready yet. I need a step down room where I can be closely monitered by a nurse. I stey in recovery for 4 hours. I finally get a room and boy am I glad that I get to settle down a little. Dh meets me in the room and I get a window since I am the first one there I get my choice. I am in a room with 4 beds but I have the room to myself for at least 2 hours. Dh leaves for the night and I get up and start walking around. It feels good and I am not dizzy. My new roomate comes in and we talk then at around 6:30 the next one comes in and about 7 the last one comes in they are really nice and we get to know each other. I take walks and none of them were up to it yet. We watch some TV and then I finally at about 12 go to sleep for the night. My roomates told me I was the only one who really slept that night. The next morning we get breakfast of tea (YUCK!!!) and broth. I eat about 3/4 of a cup of the broth and then go for another walk. I seem to do a lot of the walking but it felt really good. At about 9 we meet with the Nutrtionist and PA and give us some post op instructions and then we are discharged. I had to wait a long time until DH got there since he was stuck in traffic. I sat in the back that way I didn't have to wear a seat belt. The ride home was smooth and then I had to climb my stairs unto my house which well took me time but I did and then I went to lay down since I was sooo tired. Thank G-d I am doing well I have lost 5 lb since surgery which was 6 days ago.
  25. I was only three days post op and I fasted it was the easiest fast I have ever had. And for those who are extremly religous its not really an option not to fast.
