Abuse of wls..when it's not needed
This is yet another excellent reason why I will NEVER share my decision to have WLS. I'm so tired of people who spent way too much time minding other people's business, and worrying about what other people are doing with their personal lives. I don't give a flying pig who choses to have WLS. It's none of my business. Insurance companies has a list of requirements. You meet it you get the surgery. Some people chose to self pay. Good for both sides. Why do you care? URGH!!!!!

Surgery date confusion
My insurance company had absolutely nothing to do with the scheduling of my surgery. They simply approved it. Once they approved, I went to my surgeon and we picked a date good for both of us. I think you'll get lots of different responses about this. Depending on the insurance, state, etc.

Gaining weight after surgery- really?
So, on the day of surgery they weighed me in at 226 lbs. Went home the next day at 238lbs. Took me 9 days to lose it. Went to the doctor on the 11th day and weighed in at 222 lbs. I was told to consume 1ozs of clear liquids every 15mins. I had to do that until I saw her on day 11. My surgeon had the nerve to be visibly disappointed in my numbers. Really?! SMH still.

Dieting
your original post said "hood" carbs. Didn't realize it was a typo. I thought I was learning something new on the food scene.

Fat Hormones?
Yes, I believe it stores hormones. Had not had a period in 18 months. Three days after my surgery my period came and lasted 10 freaking days! I was pissed off! Had a drain, no food, was in discomfort, and to deal with that long forgotten mess. Bad fat! Bad period! Good news. .....it hasn't heen back! Thank you Lord!

5 Days Post Op...will I be okay?
I think if you opened up your stomach you would know. I'm not a doctor, but I don't believe you would be able to post if your stomach had opened up. That being said, for the first 10 days my surgeon had me on 1ounce of liquid every 15mins. Yep! No proteins. The only good thing about that is I had zero hunger. Thank God. I was so nervous about complications, I followed instructions to the letter until I saw her on day 11. So, unless you were told specifically how much to consume per hour, just slow down and take good care of yourself. Best.

Off track. Recommend cookbooks?
We are at exactly starting weight and height. And had surgery about one month apart. Just go completely back to protein first. Keep it simple. Less stress on yourself. Can you do eggs for breakfast? Grill chicken, grill or steam fish for lunch and dinners? I only recently started adding in veggies and romaine lettuce, and most days I only eat a few bites. I recently started enjoying homemade grilled cesar salad. I tale this with me in the car. I was concentrating so hard on my protein and my restriction kicks in pretty quickly. I also very recently added in a half apple most days. I so missed fruits and veggies. I still don't do any carbs except what I get in my two cups of skim milk a day. I don't snack, except for the half apple. I try to eat as soon as I get hungry, but will take almonds, hard boiled eggs and cheese with me if I have to be in my car for awhile. I ALWAYS leave the house with at least 4 cups of water. Try to I eep it simple and hang in there. Have you tried buying store made roasted chicken? Very convenient. Best water.

My father-in-law is oblivious.
@@wicked_ash You shouldn't throw it in the trash. Giving it to the office is a great idea. Lots of people get to partake, instead of just the two of you. But for next year your husband may give him a gentle hint of what types of gifts maybe more appropriate.

pre op gains? HELP!
So are you supposed to be losing on the diet or maintaining? Either way, we gain weight by eating more calories than our bodies need. No one here can help you with that.

Abdominal wall reconstruction and hernia repair tomorrow!
Will they be able to "make" a new belly button? What type of hernia do you have? I have a large hernia that needs to be repaired for the second time in 10 yrs. I hope to have a tummy tuck done at the same time.

Is a colonoscopy a requirement for the sleeve surgery?
They are recommended by age 50 if no family history and no symptoms. I had family history and started testing in my mid forties.

Is a colonoscopy a requirement for the sleeve surgery?
I've had several coolnoscopies due to family history of colon cancer. The procedure is no big deal. I was taking a well needed nap during. The prep is a B#*#h! I was not required to have one before my sleeve.

Discouraged Already
A big old pound a day! So sorry that you are not losing 3 or 4 pounds a day. No, you don't want or need my sarcasm. But the reality is you need to live in your reality or you will not enjoy this journey, process, whatever you call in. My reality, about 10pounds a month since surgery. My reality, zero pounds lost for the month of October. My reality, I'm so happy for every freaking pound of fat gone from my body. My reality, to get to goal if it takes a full year or more. Stop comparing yourself to others and fully focus on you! Best.

Lying about what type of surgery..
What is your height and weight in inches and pounds?
-
1 month since surgery Stuck for one week at same weight
Sometimes you will be stuck for longer than a week. Try a month! Yes, in October I stayed the exact same weight for the entire month. It's behind me now and so will your stall. Keep with the plan. I still struggle with water intake at 5 months out. But it has gotten better. Also, if I drink water too fast, I get heart burn.

Dont want to loose anymore
@phx2sxv. You are welcomed. I told not one single person about my surgery. With my personality I would be dropping friends like crazy if I had to endure negative unsolicited comments about my decision. Try to just stay focused on your goals. You may find that you may have to put some, temporary, distance between you and these people. For me this has not been an easy period. I deal with my own challenging thoughts at times. Having outside, unhelpful, negative, envious people try to bring me down was not an option. Best.

Kids are so honest
Where was her mama/pappa/babysitter/responsible adult when she approaching you? I have three children 27 to 16 yrs old. NEVER have any of them at that age approached a perfect stranger and spoken, period. NEVER! And if they had, there would of been an apology issued to the person, by them, and a gentle lesson given, by me in first approaching strangers and speaking, and second on not commenting on the differences we observe in otheres. Ok, so, try, try to not let this set back take you further back. Try not to let this undo all the hard work you did in losing the weight on your own. So, why were you denied the surgery? And finally, try not to fixate on what a 6 yr old said. I don't believe any malic was intended.
