  1. I have learned to just not care what people say or think of me. Unfortunately I have a co-worker that is very negative about the surgery and feels the need to make nasty comments. It goes in one ear and out the other. You have accomplished so much and that is so amazing! Keep up the great job and don't let negative people into your life.
  2. Thanks for sharing! You look great and all the hard work and dedication has paid off. Had my surgery on Nov 11th, and I am already feeling so much better.

  6. After anxiously waiting a week, I finally received my approval letter!

  8. I completely understand your frustration! I just received my letter of approval from BCBS, and it is for the wrong procedure. Not sure who dropped the ball, but I hope it can get resolved quickly. I sent a letter to the insurance coordinator and copied in the doctor's nurse. Good luck to you and hopefully things will look brighter.
  9. It's funny how every insurance company has different requirements. Don't let the cardiologist steal your joy. After the surgery you won't think like that anymore. Good luck on your journey.
  10. Wow...that was fast. I'm a little nervous my insurance company will deny me. I was told at the beginning I had to go through 6 months of supervised weight loss classes. But since a few of my co-workers had the surgery recently without doing this, I asked the insurance coordinator to submit my paperwork. Thank you and good luck to you, too.
  11. That is great that you did not have to do the 6 months of diet! Once your doctor's office submitted your paperwork, how long did it take to get your approval?

  13. Congratulations! My paperwork was submitted last Wednesday. How long did it take the insurance company to come back with an approval?

  15. Thank you for your kind response. I am hoping my insurance coordinator gets notified of the change once my case is submitted. Had my EGD today and completed all my other requirements this week. Now I just have to wait on my psych results and blood work before they will submit. Good luck and please keep me posted.
  16. Hi. Who told you BCBSof Iowa changed? I am trying to get my surgery done before the end of the year. Not getting much support from my doctor's office. I feel like I am bothering them with my questions. Great to hear others with the same insurance are not having to do the 6 months.
  17. Hi chip305, I also have BCBSof Iowa and I keep getting told by the insurance coordinator at my doctor's office that I have to have 6 months supervised weight loss attempts. Since I keep telling her that a few of my co-workers have had or are in the process of having the surgery (w/out the 6 months) she is going to submit my paperwork to the insurance company. Did you confirm directly with BCBS their requirements have changed? Looking forward to your reply.

  20. That is great news! I also have BCBS of Iowa and was told by the insurance coordinator that I had to complete a 6 month supervised diet program. I was a little discouraged but this brings new hope. Thank you so much for sharing this information and good luck with your surgery.
  21. Hi, What city and state is Dr. Kim in?
