Hey guys so im sched for VSG 10/22. For some odd reason today after having intercorse with my husband i was crying crying crying. All i could think about was if something were to happen to me on thurs. I felt very odd and having second thoughts. Idk what to do! Someone helpe please. He just laughed about it and made it into a joke but i really was so emotional it felt like the last time i was going to be with him. Plz no one judge me. Thanks.

Its hard! But DOABLE! I smoked 5-6 cig a day..and about 2 months ago i cold turkey quit! My surgeon will not operate on anyone that is currently smoking and he does a nicotein test before. Now let me tell you...i feel better it was hard at first but after 2 weeks and coughin up the mucous i can finally breathe and stop coughin up a lung. It is better for u to quit now while u can. Hey guus today I started my liver shrink diet!! A little rough...but i survived....any pointers on what to eat? Or what did u eat? So far i did 1 premier protein shake in the am...for lunch i had a chicken ceasar salad..dressin on the side...and in between throughout the day i drank Crystal light and Propel water. And lastly as i write this i am eating a cream cheddar brocc soup (life saver). IDK if i am doing this right but since I am hungry i think i am...lol btw these HEADACHES ARE RIDICULOUS.... Feel free to comment plz....thanks

@innersurfergirl She will need antibiotics anyhow to prevent infection after surgery so it wont hurt to start the doses before surgery...but i would check with my surgeon as well. Good Luck to you. @@lisamarie0817

@@Dub i have quit smokin cold turkey about 2 months ago. Im pretty sure this as well is leading to my anxiety...i feel muchhhh better and i am able to breathe a little better. Thank you for ir kind words i do appreciate it.

Yeah it suks!!! Trust me i know!!! Test (blood) detects Cointine which is nicotein base for a heavy smoker and it coukd take up to 2 months to clear...now if they do urine? Than thats 4 days...now and days docs arent that dumb and they know the diff so 9 times out of 10 they request blood sample. @@Leesa926 Good Luck!

As long as u dnt have a fever of 100.4 and up...i dnt think its an issue...to be on safer side i would ask for some antibiotics just to clear it up before ur surg. Good Luck!!!

If u dnt have a history of smokin like i did (5-6 cigg a day) than i woukdnt worry about it...but try not to smoke it can cause bad circulation...bad healing...etc. Last i smoked was about 2 mo ago. I got blood drawn last wed and it came back yesterday Neg! @@sleevemylife

I am in the same boat as you! My surgeon said 24 hr liquid diet before surg...i keep reading everyone is doing 2 weeks! So i am doin atleast a 1 week liquid diet to be on the safe side...who is ur surgeon? We prob have the same surgeon!! Lol

They say about a 4-6 weeks but i also read 4 days...last time i smoked was almost 2 mo ago and got my blood drawn last wk and test came back today neg!!! (Not detected) Its hard but you will do it! Good Luck!
