  1. Congratulations Tracy! :clap2: I can't believe it's over two weeks already since my surgery... hope things go as well for you as they have for me. Take care and good luck.
  2. Congratulations Brenda! :clap2: I had that feeling sometimes... like you forget to breath or it skips a beat. I spoke to the nurse at my surgery and she said that it was quite normal. Haven't noticed it happening in the last week. I suggest you call your doctor's office just to be sure.
  3. It's funny how we all had the same fear prior to the surgery, yet when you think about it, we were slowly killing ourselves with the extra weight, BP, diabetes, sleep apnea etc. I even told my sister that yes I know the weight could kill me in the end but having the op could kill me there and then. Crazy thoughts !! Well as I said earlier, I did it with no real problems and now down 7.5 kilos (16.5lbs) and looking forward to finally having a normal healthy body.
  4. I understand what you're saying but at the same time, if you are eating and drinking 2 glasses of wine each day, you are not going to lose your weight... at least, not as quickly as other people. I will double check my dr's big mac analagy... just in case I got what he said wrong... he never mentioned calories in the equation.
  5. PS: Also no need to get high and mighty with your response... alcohol is fattening, no matter what the calories!!
  6. He may have meant equal in retaining weight rather than calories, either way if someone is drinking alcohol every night then the chances of losing weight is going to be reduced.
  7. My dr told me that 2 glasses of red wine are equivalent to one big mac... something to think about.
  8. I must say the coffee isn't agreeing with me so I might give that a miss for awhile. I don't know how many calories I'm having but I'm sure it's got to be under 800. I found if I eat regulary I don't get hungry. A couple of times I left it too long and felt hungry but didn't take much food to curb it.
  9. I was told to eat 1/2 cup of food (mushies) 3 times a day and if I get hungry in between to have 1/2 cup of yoghurt, crushed fruit, jelly... food along those lines. I was told drink Water, vegetable juice, tea, coffee etc through the day. So far have no problem with hunger.
  10. Congratulations, great loss! :clap2:
  11. Silly me, I meant "they're" not "their".
  12. I was banded on 1 Nov as well and have been on mushies for 2 days. Can only eat 1/2 cup per sitting. Has your dr given you a restriction on how much you can eat? They are all so different... I assume they know what their doing.
  13. For sure Dave. I'm hoping when I get another 10 kilos off then this may help get rid of another tablet. Good luck and I hope you are down to vitamins only very soon! :clap2:
  14. Congratulations Dave !! :whoo::whoo: I must say, the only reason I decided on the band is because I was suddenly being given 1 med after another and found myself taking a cocktail of them each day... not for me. Lost my sister to pancreatic cancer 4 years ago and I didn't want to end up the same.
  15. I had the same fears prior to surgery... ended up over eating for a good 6-8 weeks prior to the surgery just from the anxiety. Naturally I put on weight during that time. Anyway, I'm now 2 weeks post banding, 7 kilos (15lbs) down and feeling great... best thing I ever did.
  16. Lucky I guess Cindy !! :biggrin1: I have had blended home made stews with either red meat or chicken and veggies. I have 1/2 cup for dinner and am quite full when finished... hard to believe isn't it. My food intake has been as follows: Breakfast: 1 weetbix in skim milk - 1/2 cup Mid morning: 1/2 skim latte Lunch: 1/2 cup Tuna, smooth ricotta cheese & mashed potato Afternoon Snack: Small low fat choc mousse Dinner: 1/2 cup blended stew After dinner snack: 1/2 cup low fat jelly & light custard Of course I try to drink Water through the day but not as much as I should. I also have a popsicle later in the night.
  17. On my second day of mushies Danna... doing really well. I have lost 7 kilos so far. I'm so glad I did this!:whoo::whoo:
  18. I feel great, this nymph is on mushies now and lost another kilo (2.2 lbs) in the last 48 hours!! :clap2: :clap2:
  19. Well no matter what happens, I will always feel like a nymph, especially as the weight keeps coming off. :whoo::whoo:
  20. I didn't have one... was in hospital 2 nights.
  21. 2 weeks later and all is well. Have been on mushies the last couple of days... nice change.
  22. I'm only hungry if I don't drink enough or eat on time... sometimes get distracted at work. For the most part, doing great.
  23. I started on mushies 2 days ago and potato & pumpkin never tasted so good !! :whoo:
  24. There's now a thread called November Poll for us to vote on for a name... check it out.
  25. Just saw the poll above. Good one Nessa.
