  1. I don't know many of the doctors but there seems to be a few people who have had their's done in Baulkham Hills. Good to meet another Sydneyite ! Good luck.
  2. I can't seem to help myself, I am eating way too fast at the moment. I am still sticking to the small amounts but woosh and they're gone. I guess eating at my desk at work doesn't help and then I'm pretty hungry by the time I get home. I assume once I have my first fill next week, it will slow me down a little. Anyone else??
  3. Thanks Kandi. I go for my first fill next Wed and was told I should be fine to eat the next day.
  4. I go for my first fill next Wednesday and I was told that I would be fine to go to a work xmas lunch the next day. I hope they're right... don't want to barf all over my boss & colleagues!!
  5. I too have a 10cc band... how is the restriction with 4 or 5 cc?
  6. Who's your doctor? I had mine done through North Shore Weight Loss Surgery... they at at the RNS Private Hospital. Drs Steve Leibman & Garrett Smith. I've had a great experience with them so far. Good luck with your decision.
  7. Sorry to hear about your wife's situation. I came through it with no problems. It is unfortunate that she ended up in the small percentage who have problems. Does this mean she can't / won't have it done again?
  8. I was banded 5 weeks ago and can assure you, you won't starve. The first few days you are swollen and even fluids can be too much. I just started to feel a little hungry in the last few days but a couple of mouth fulls soon settles that. Obviously everyone has a different experience but I haven't starved to death yet! Good luck with your surgery... keep us posted.
  9. My brother wants to have the band done as well but wasn't covered so joined a private fund recently. His dr told him that even though he is overweight his health is pretty good (no guarantees) and to wait until his insurance kicks in. If your health is good then it might be worth the wait but if not, then I would go ahead with it. I also would be worried about complications and having to fork out all that extra cash. Where in Australia are you from? I'm from Sydney.
  10. Slim people have other outlets for their emotions, some smoke, some shop, some have intense careers and the list goes on. Ours is just a little more obvious to people. Good luck with working it out.
  11. Good luck with your fill, my first one is next Wednesday. Will also have another read of this, thanks for bringing it forward.
  12. It will take a few days to go down. As long as you keep the fluids up, water, protein shakes or whatever else you drink, you should be fine. I didn't drink much water but the nurse told me as long as I was getting some water and other fluids. Good luck.:clap2::clap2:
  13. :whoo::whoo:Glad to hear that you have come out of it okay. I hated the hospital... you'll feel much better when you are back in your own bed. Look forward to chatting about your experience. :whoo::whoo:
  14. I am staying on plan today because I want to continue losing weight rather than go the other way! :bananapowerslide:
  15. I've had the odd day when I've felt like that. Usually I turn to food when I am upset or stressed but haven't since the band so can't suppress those emotions in that way any more. So needless to say, they come to the forefront and I have to stop and look at what's going on... very hard for an emotional eater.
  16. It's funny but I have been feeling the same in the last few days... I'm still sticking to the plan but eating faster than I should and wanting more. I do what Steph does, I only serve what I should be eating and put the rest away. I have snacks in between but keep my intake to under 900 cals a day. I guess if you are hungry and can't keep to 3 meals a day, then at least keep low fat things around so you don't resort to junk food.
  17. I was banded on 1 Nov and my first fill is next Wed, 12 Dec. I think I am now ready for a fill. Even though I have been eating under 900 cals a day, I have noticed in the last few days that I could eat a little more.
  18. I've done a couple of walks so far but need to get back into regular walking. Also I will go back to aqua aerobics in the new year.
  19. I must say I've noticed that I have been eating faster and a little more than usual in the last few days, seems there's less restriction right now. I'm still only eating around 800-900 cals though. I was banded on 1 Nov and getting my first fill on 12 Dec.
  20. I have been banded almost 5 weeks and have been on solids for a week with no weight gain. My weight loss is getting a little slower but have kept losing up until the last few days. I need to get back into regular exercise which I'm sure will help.
  21. What an experience... glad to hear you are back home and okay. Take care.
  22. At the moment I am eating solids (1st fill 12 Dec) and in the last few days have found myself eating way too fast but with no problems. Most of the food I eat is not too solid (not big on meat) and I stick to about 1/2 - 3/4 cup of food at a time. I hope once I get a fill my body will let me know to slow down again. Of course now that I've put it out there, I will have to make the effort to slow down, even without the fill !! :bounce::bounce:
  23. Must say I'm finding myself wanting more food at the moment... still sticking with the plan though. B: 1 weetbix & a 1/2 of a banana in skim milk Snack: small skim latte Lunch: 1/2 cup refied beans with lite cheese melted on top, spoon of low fat sour cream & spoon of avocado on top Snack: Nectarine Dinner: 3/4 cup Left over fried rice no pork or ham Snack: 1/2 cup canned fruit & light custard & 1/2 banana My serves are creeping up a bit to about 3/4 cup full. Hopefully I will want less after my fill on 12 December.
  24. It's finally arrived... good luck with your banding tomorrow morning Danna!! :whoo::whoo:
