  1. I had an infection after my first fill and was put on Keflex as well. The port healed but I worry now that it may happen again. I also ended up with a major allergy attack from the Keflex which didn't help the situation.
  2. I'm going to be 53 in April and even though I always get told I look younger than my years I feel that way as well... downhill run to 60... 60, me, never. I'm still a girl so how could I be in my 50s?? Scarey.
  3. Me too... I think you can eat fast when you don't have a lot of restriction because I couldn't when I did. Some things still get stuck though so it makes me think about what I'm doing. I'm going for my next fill on the 23rd so hopefully that should force me to slow down.
  4. Congratulations, it's a great feeling! :whoo::whoo:
  5. I don't feel so bad now when I say I'm feeling hungry. At the moment it's 90% willpower 10% restriction. Of course the willpower went by the wayside over the holidays. Now that I'm back at work I'm too busy to think about food but the problem is when I get home. I sleep quite late at night so my mind keeps moving towards the kitchen... "now what else can I have??" As far as metrics is concerned, I know we use litres when it comes to petrol and you still use gallons. I was over in the USA in 2006 for 7 weeks and it got a little confusing. We used to use pints and gallons about 30 years ago but we changed it. Same as dollars & cents.
  6. Hi Longhorn & Patty, yes we are band sisters and doing pretty well I think. We will definitely compare notes on our fills Longhorn... I only have 2mls in a 10mls band... I guess that cc's for you guys. I think I need another 2 or 3 mls this time around. Need some real restriction again... willpower is working fine again but restriction helps nudge the willpower !! :whoo::whoo: I'm so ready for my next big weight loss... been the same weight too long.
  7. I'm staying on plan because I lost 1lb yesterday and I want to keep going in that direction.
  8. I was on shakes and fluids yesterday until 6pm then had a normal dinner. I went for a walk this morning so the scales went down 1 lb... I put on a couple during my binge eating over the holidays but it's better off than on. I will do the shakes and fluids again today and see how I go. Can't wait to get my next fill on 23rd ... :faint:

  10. Oh and hi everyone... 52 going on 25 !! :clap2:
  11. Apple juice also works really well.
  12. Good one Karen! :whoo::whoo:
  13. I was too scared to do anything against my doctor's orders... 2 weeks of fluids and 2 weeks of mushies then slowly onto solids. It wasn't too hard at first because the swelling helped but I must say it was hard over the holidays staying on track. I think once people start on the wrong foods it takes a lot of effort to get it right again as many people have said on here. I am determined to beat the old habits and am seriously working on getting my next lot of weight off. Exercise really helps and of course keeping busy.
  14. Congratulations Dave... looks like I need to pull my finger out.
  15. If it's not banned then I guess it's your decision. I've always been a one coffee a day drinker so I'm happy to continue doing that. It's also a social thing for me... I usually pop out to the cafe near work with someone every day for a cuppa.
  16. Congratulations and good luck on your journey.
  17. Mine got infected after my first fill but the antibiotics healed it so I was lucky. Sorry to hear you have to go through that. Maybe they need to put you on stronger antibiotics rather than go straight to surgery??
  18. I was told it was ok to eat prior and was on soft food for 24 hours afterwards.
  19. I have a skim latte every day but it wasn't allowed in my first 2 weeks after being banded. What does your doc say?
  20. Good on you Renewedhope, it's people like you who make this world a better place. Children need people like you to help make them better adults and in turn making this world a better place to live in. :clap2: :clap2:
  21. I was banded on 1 November and lost 29 lbs but haven't been doing too well in the last 2 weeks... definitely need more restriction and less head hunger. I have joined the November Nymphs weight loss challenge to lose another 10.7 lbs by 14 February... hope I can get there.
  22. Well everyone, I had the best intentions but only lasted till 6pm today. I had a bad bout of diahaerra (sp) this afternoon and felt off so ended up eating a low fat diet dinner. I also realised that even though I wasn't too hungry through the day I was pretty hungry by the time I got home. Congratulations to those who lasted the duration.
  23. When things get stuck for me, I drink apple juice and it really helps. Sometimes I need to take a few sips but it does the trick... so no PBing for me. Of course I don't know how things will be after my next fill and when I have more restriction.
  24. Once you sort no 1 out, then hopefully it will fix no 3... good luck and keep us posted.
