  1. Congratulations on your decision. As Aussiechik said if you go to search and type in what you're looking for you'll usually find a thread on it. I see alot of you have mentioned the liver is a big issue. I was told to just follow the Adkins diet the 2 weeks before surgery. I am currently 290 lbs and goal weight is 170lbs. Because I have not met with my doctor, being that the surgery is in Mexico, should I take it upon myself to use a more drastic diet method? I didn't diet before my surgery (starting weight 229 lbs) but most people do. Some have to go on liquids for 2-4 weeks prior. If you haven't been told otherwise then stick to what you plan. After surgery, how long is it before I can eat solid foods? It varies. I was told to do 2 weeks of liquids, then 2 weeks of mushies. Then I slowly started on soft solids and went from there. How long after surgery can I start an exercise regimen? Can I do sit ups? What physical activity should I avoid. I was told to start walking about 2 weeks after surgery. It's not recommended you do anything strenuous for at least 5-6 weeks... you need to heal first. Is band slippage common... and if so, does the doctor have to go back in to fix it? What if it happens here in the states? Do I have to pay for a whole new procedure? Check out the Lapband Complications section for this one. I am getting the Johnson and Johnson band. Any info from others that have got this band? I have the J&J band... 10cc with a 6.5cc fill. I am reasonably restricted but feel I need another 1cc in it. How long does it take to physically recover after surgery? I was back at work a few days after my surgery but worked from home for the 1st 3 days. If you can take 1-2 weeks off work, then I would.
  2. Hang in there Shortgal, I'm sure we'll all get to that sweet spot. I think mine will be another 1cc. When is your next fill? It is exciting isn't it Longhorn... 200lbs is 90.9 kilos. I am also like you, starving on the way home but it doesn't take much for that to go away. With my 3rd fill, I am hardly eating anything through the day. Only having a small dinner but am still having some snacks at night. Happy with that because with walking every day and doing aqua aerobics once or twice a week, I will get the weight off. I lost another lb overnight. Can't wait for it to start melting off again!
  3. Good one Longhorn. As of yesterday, I'm at 201.5. Saw 199.7 twice in the last month so hope to see it again on a more permanent basis very soon. I got my 3rd fill yesterday, now 6.5cc in 10cc band. Feel a little more restricted but was able to eat okay last night. I'll check out how it is in the next few days. Can go back in a couple of weeks to get more if I need it.
  4. Congratulations Annie & anyone I've missed.
  5. It certainly does... I was there just after xmas but then have gone up & down. I'm not quite there but will see it again soon.
  6. Do you know you don't have to take it to your employer if you think he won't do anything? Give the antidiscrimination board a call and seek their advice or make a complaint.
  7. Congratulations on getting there.
  8. I'm now up to 6.5cc in a 10cc band after my fill today. I had very little to eat all day and only started getting hungry around 5pm. I had 2 skim lattes, 1 protein shake and a banana until I got home at 6.30pm. I had a very small piece of corn on the cob, a cup of home made curried chicken & boiled rice. All went down fine. I hope this is the one. I was told to make another appointment just in case I need more.
  9. It's a shame that you had to get the defill but you really don't want to suffer for the sake of weight loss. Glad to hear that you're on the way to feeling better. I got more fill today, 1.5cc... now I'm 6.5cc in a 10cc band. I was told they didn't want to go to 7cc... too drastic. I will book another appointment to go back in 2 weeks... hopefully won't need it.
  10. Shortgal, I have to say I am a little nervous but excited at the same time. I really want to get back to eating small amounts and losing weight but I also fear that the restriction might be so much that I can't eat some of the things I can now. I'm willing to take the risk though. I'll let you know how I go today.
  11. I'm going for my 3rd fill tomorrow. Currently have 5cc in a 10cc band with very little restriction.
  12. Glad to hear you got it sorted Lizzie. It must be hard feeling the way you do but as you say if you have liquids for a few days it should ease it. Look on the bright side, you might actually get some more weight off in the next few days. I suggest that next time you have a fill to stay in the area for a few hours, go shopping or whatever, just in case it happens again. Anyway, take care.
  13. Thanks very much for the update Jessica. Glad to hear she's on her way to rehab. She is definitely in my thoughts and prayers. xx
  14. You look fantastic... I agree with Destiny you have the body of a 20+ year old. I hope my body looks like that when I finally get all my weight off. I think your boobs are a perfect size in the naked photo... I don't think you need to be any smaller. I also think you could get a slightly more cut off bra to show some cleavage. Hope all heals well for you.
  15. I would suggest you go to your hospital and tell them you need to get some fluids into you intaveniously so that you don't dehydrate.
  16. You poor thing Lizzie, what a disaster. I can't believe you have to wait so long to get a defill. Keep us posted.
  17. Congratulations Bronnie & Susannah, fantastic achievement. I can't wait to get there.
  18. Good luck, October will be here before you know it.
  19. Trixie whatever your intention was in starting this thread, it has come off as putting people down. It's takes a lot of work and internal strength to build self esteem and your comments can cut people at the knees. Think about how you come off when you post. The people on this thread have not reacted to your comments for no reason.
  20. Congratulations Edie... that's where we're all aspiring to be.
  21. Hi Jessica, heard any more about Jen?
  22. Sad isn't it Aubrie? I must say I noticed I was hungry after aqua even though I had dinner before I went. My class starts at 6.40pm, so I might have dinner afterwards which could help. Is there any way you could pre cook food so it's ready in less time? Maybe you need to eat more through the day so you're not so hungry when you get home. Or carry a healthy snack to eat on the way home. Easy for to make suggestions for others but can't do it myself! I have a bad habit of finishing something even when I'm no longer hungry rather than throw it out which doesn't help. I guess when I have more restriction that will be hard to do. Good luck on getting the weight moving again.
  23. Thanks Steph. I still eat too fast as well and occasionally certain things get stuck.... no PBing though. Despite those moments, I can eat everything and large amounts if I let myself. I just want to be satisfied on small amounts again and it sounds like you are there.
  24. I saw it for the first time just after xmas but then put on a few lbs after the NY... now they're all gone again. Good luck with getting there Sue.
  25. Well I took the bull by the horns and called for my 3rd fill and it's next Tuesday morning. I couldn't wait another 3 weeks for a fill, I don't want to struggle through this... no point in having the operation if I have to constantly use willpower to get through. Hopefully another 1cc or so should get things going. In the last week & a half, I lost the 4 lbs I put on over the holidays, so I'm very happy about that. Need the restriction to get the next 10 lbs off.
