  1. Hi everyone! I had my bypass in August 2014 and am down 70 lbs! I am feeling great. I am off high BP meds and acid reflux meds. It was the best decision ever. I just did a major clothes donation and purchased new clothes. it was a neccessity though since they were way too big now. Blessings to all of you!
  2. Hello! I went band to bypass on 8/11/2014, and it was the best decision of my life. I am 5 months post op and am down 70 lbs! Today I weigh 228 lbs! 4. Hello! Yes I have cried too. The last two nights. I had band to bypass revision 7 days ago. I have so much gas. Some discomfort too. By bedtime I need a pain med. I do take a generic prozac for anxiety. I am wondering if the dosage needs t go up because my pouch lets the capsule pass through to fast...
  5. Hi Knitlil09 Dr Seger is my surgeon too! He is awesome. I go in 8/11/14 for the surgery at Foundation Surgical Hospital. How do you feel?
  6. Hi - Lisa G - It is NEVER too late to start again and get refocused. We can't change what we have already done, but the future is ours! We have ALL been there. Much Love, Melissa
  7. I too am a band to bypass revision! My surgery date in 8/11/14! I AM PUMPED!
  8. Hello I am 37 years old. Lap Band 2010 (lost 60 lbs) and revision to RNY on 8/11/14.
  9. Its me again - THIS TIME with a surgery date! Monday Aug 11 is my day. I am so excited..... Today is Day # 2 on the 14 day liver shrinking diet. I will not lie it is tough, but nothing worth anything is ever easy. Here is what I am tired of: 1. Fatigue 2. Exacerbated asthma 3. sleep apnea 4. High BP 5. Not being able to run 6. Only being able to sleep on my left side so I can breath and not have a heart attack 7. Washing my hands at work in the RR and getting my blouse all wet, because my tummy is so large 8. Not being able to ride a horse 9. Buying 3x clothing 10. Making lists about why I am tired! Blessings, Melissa
  10. Hello! I have BCBSIL and got denied for band to RNY revision. They came back with that denial after about 5 business days. My surgeon scheduled a peer to peer meeting with them and after another 10 working days I was approved. You MUST have a surgeon who is ready to get on the phones and fight. My surgery date is Monday 8/11! Best of luck to you - do not lose hope.
  11. Hello, I can totally understand the temptation to do last minute treats and indulgences, but - if I told myself I would never have a food item again EVER, I would certainly go insane. A bite of something after RNY will satisfy. Gone are the days of pigging out on an entire tub, bag, carton, etc. "Forever" for me is a bad word, so i just don't use it. My changes are permanent, but cant use that word. LOL
  12. Hi! Congratulations on your surgery date! I was just approved for band to RNY yesterday by my insurance. I am looking at an August 2014 surgery too! I haven't figured out how to friend people on this site, but I did click to follow the topic. I have gone completely low carb. My NUT said 30 or less carbs per day. This site has REALLY YUMMY recipes: http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/ I have cooked many things in the past weeks and highly recommend it. I went cold turkey off Dr. Pepper. Cold turkey off all the things I should not have. Sugar and carbs are poison to someone with my metabolism and body-make-up. This is a fact I have come to accept recently. I am going to approach it as a food allergy type situation. I should be choosing a date this week!!!!!!! -Melissa
  13. I got got my approval yesterday 7/21/14!!! I am so happy!!! My surgeon was able to do a peer to peer call with BCBSIL and it worked. Thank God!!!!!!
  14. Hello everyone, I just found out that my revision from band to RNY was denied because it "was not medically necessary." I was so shoked BCBSIL did this. After we got the denial, my surgeon had a peer to peer phone call with them. I am awaiting the results. Has anyone had a denial for band to RNY revision? Was anyone able to get the decision overturned? I am desperate!
  15. I feel your pain. I just got my denial today. I have BCBS of IL. I got a lap band in 2010 and was self pay. The band IS NOT for me. I should have gotten RNY from the start, but I was looking at the monetary bottom line, and the band was cheaper. I now have BCBS with bariatric benefits, yet they told me there isn't significant failure of the band to warrant a revision. I had an upper GI that shows the acid reflux is burning my esophagus, plus I have a dilated pouch with constant vomiting. HOW DO WE BEAT THE INSURANCE??????????????????
  16. He is a wonderful surgeon. My he is my cousin's surgeon
  17. I am awaiting approval for Rny from BCBS Of IL. Today I called a colleague in another state on a phone call. He asked if I had been running, because I was breathing so hard...I was sitting stationary at my desk. I WAS SO EMBARRASSED. CMON BCBS!!!
  18. Hello My surgeon's office sent all the documents to BCBS of IL 2 days ago. I am waiting too. It has only been 2 days, and I am so impatient. I got the band in 2010 and lost 80 lbs. 20 came back, and my 293lb body can take no more of this. I have learned that my trigger foods are anything fried. Those lead to being really really bad. I am reading on the forums about people splurging right before surgery - that is so bad guys. On the other hand, if I tell myself I can never ever have x,y,z again, I would go crazy, so I dont say never ever. Just not barrels and tubs! Ahhh, the struggles of a big gal (sigh). -Melissa

  20. Dr. Seeger is the best! He did my sleeve recently as well as rny for my sister a few years ago. Are you going to be at foundation surgical hospital? It's a green facility and all the staff there is wonderful. Good luck! Yes maam! The RNY will be done at Foundation for sure. The upper GI tomorrow will be at an outpatient facility in the medical center. How is your sister doing with the RNY? Can you give me some stats on her? Thanks
  21. I LOVE THIS ADVICE!!!! IT IS FOOLPROOF!!!!
  22. I am in San Antonio, TX Dr Seger will be performing my revision from band to RNY - soon I hope tomorrow 6/24/14 is my upper GI endoscopy so he can see the condition of my stomach currently with the dang band.
  23. Hi everyone! It is so good to read all your stories. It brings me comfort to know I am not alone in this fight. 384lbs Sometime in 2007 (I do not know how I lived through that) 343lbs Feb 2010 Banded 290lbs May 2014 Dialated Pouch with vomiting and pain! (60-80 lbs lost during this past 4 years) (I yoyo 30 lbs) Jun 2014 After researching I asked surgeon for revision to RNY Tomorrow is my upper GI endoscopy so the surgeon can see what he has to work with for a bypass! I am so nervous and excited at the same time. I yoyo from 265-290 only this time I am at 290 I am stalling. Due to stretched pouch I had to have the band loosened. At least I have no more pain and vomiting. My asthma has gotten 100X worse guys. My hips and back and screaming for mercy. I am praying for this revision to bypass ASAFP. I am a single mom of 2 kids and summer time is an ideal time. I learned so much from the band, and I do not consider it a waste at all. I would never have been able to drop below 300lbs without it. Comments, advice, and all stories welcome!
  24. Hello I am going through the SAME EXACT situation. Dr unfilled me to allow stomach to recover, and I am SO HUNGRY. I return to Dr on 6/13/14 to check for improvement. Uggghhh When I got my band in 2010 I was self pay, because my insurance sucked. Now I have good insurance that will pay for a revision. I just dont know what to do.
  25. I too have BCBSIL. I got my lap band in 2010 but am looking into revision surgery. I go back on 6/13/14 to see if my stretched pouch has shrunk. I went through graduate school and basically let myself go. For any banders looking into gastric sleeve, what lead you to your decision?
