  1. After seeing some of your rave reviews and before and after pics, plastics in TJ is looking better every day! My question is about getting into TJ. I'm no where near Mexico, so how would you guys recommend getting there? Fly into Mexico or fly into Cali?
  2. My surgeon doesn't have the drinking rule but you will probably be surprised at how little you will be able to eat of the solids. I was so excited to eat soft cooked veggies but all I could eat was 3 baby carrots. Lol
  3. So can we say she cheated Mother Nature too with all the plastics she has on her face? What a hypocrite. Anything to turn a dollar, I guess.
  4. 1. Living longer so my kids don't have to suffer fr losing me while they are small. 2. Making memories with my kids by playing with them. 3. Getting off meds for blood pressure (I'm already off meds for diabetes at 5 weeks out). 4. Having a healthy, active life with my husband 5. Not making my husband a windower. 6. Being a healthier example for my kids. 7. Being able to walk in the park without pain. 8. More active sex life with my husband. 9. Being more in tune with myself spiritually. 10. Being in a better place mentally.
  5. One that's on the top of my list is being able to ride a roller coaster again. A few years ago I tried to ride a ride at an amusement park and they couldn't get the bar to close on me. That was the last time I ever tried. I had to walk past a long line of people that knew what happened to me. Also, they had to wait until I got out of the way to start the ride for the other people. I literally wished I could have died. I want to run and play with my kids. I want to fly on an airplane again without having to ask for a seatbelt extension To be able to take a pic of myself and not be embarrassed to post it. To not be invisible anymore
  6. I loooove Indian food! Omg and middle eastern! I cook for my 5 kids and husband but they eat super healthy so there's nothing I make for them that I couldn't have. My daughters are 4 and they would take a salad over fries any day. I made my husband some donut holes to take to work and offered them to my kids. They took one bite and asked for cherry tomatoes instead. Lol
  7. May 21st. Down 44 pounds as of Wednesday. Starting weight was 301.
  8. P.S. I'm 5 weeks post op as of today (Wednesday) and I'm down 44 pounds!
  9. He's amazing! I had a great experience with him. The best piece of advice I can give you is make your nurses walk you if they are lax about it. Mine didn't offer to walk me but one time. So I asked them to. It is imperitive that you walk and use your spirometer in the hospital AND out of the hospital. I promise you will heal faster if you do. He doesn't do things the way some peoples surgeons on here do. There's no rules about drinking 30 minutes before or after eating. So, don't worry at all about that. They will give you these nasty tubes of fruit Protein goo in the hospital. They are WAY too sweet. However, I mixed mine with Water and it made it much easier to tolerate them. Get in your protein and take your meds and Vitamins and you will do just fine! If you have ANY questions at all, please feel free to ask! Tonya
  10. I'm 44. I love the sun! But, I'll tell you guys what's the best facial exfoliant I've ever used is milk and sugar. It exfoliates so good and leaves my skin super soft. Then I put on oil of Olay daily renewal cream. :-) I've lost 42 pounds at 5 weeks out and I wear earrings every day now. I haven't worn earrings in years!
  11. I had my first appointment mid feb and had my surgery May 21st. Everything went a lot faster than I expected. Good luck!! I bet you'll be getting your surgery very soon too!
  12. Seems like the norm for people like us is that we do things to the extreme. Whether it be eating or dieting or exercising. Either I was doing my own version of extreme weight loss or I was eating to the extreme. There was never a happy medium for me.
  13. I will be 5 weeks post op Wednesday and I am off food restrictions except for steak and pork chops which I have to wait for until I am 3 months post op. I was worried that I might fall back into bad habits but I'm determined to not fail. Be strong. We can be strong together
  14. All I had to do for the two weeks is eat anything low or no carb, no sugar. So I ate what my surgeon suggested: meat, cheese, nuts, and low or no carb veggies. The purpose of this diet is to shrink the liver in order for the surgeon to be able to lift it out of the way to get to the stomach. I personally don't see why a liquid diet is the preferred method for some surgeons. It just seems like unnecessary torture to me. My liver shrank just fine and I am happy to say that so far I'm free of any complications and at 42 pounds down I feel amazing! Good luck!!
  15. Thanks for posting this! It's very inspiring! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
  16. You should also keep both eyes open as to who it is messaging you. It could be someone you know in real life trying to scare you or worse, one of those nutter fat acceptance weirdos.
  17. Holy mother of hot divas!!! You guys look AMAZING!!! Thanks for posting!!!
  18. When you start losing weight she's going to know something's up. Then it will be extremely uncomfortable since you two are close.
  19. If you have been cleared, try putting bananas in a blender with your shakes. Bananas will stop the diarrhea.
  20. Sleeved May 21st. Was 301 pre-op and as of today I'm 272. This week I've moved on to lean ground meats and by next Wednesday I will be completely off restriction except I can't eat steak or pork chops until I'm 3 months post-op.
  21. I had my 1 month appointment today and asked about this and my surgeon does not require us to do the drinking rule at all.
  22. I'm home all day every day with my toddlers. I think after I lose enough to where my back doesn't hurt anymore, I'm going to get a part-time job. I too am around food all day long.
  23. Thankfully my toddlers eat very healthy. They were offered donut holes and turned them down in favor of cherry tomatoes. They will eat salads over French fries. I've never kept sweets in the house and so they eat a lot of fresh fruit. I didn't want them to turn out like me so I never gave them chips or candy bars earlier in their lives. They are 4,4,3, and almost 2.
  24. Thank you! I'm going to have to stay away from bread and potatoes. It has to be in the house because I have a husband, 16 year old boy, and 4 toddlers. :/ So, I just have to be strong. Thanks so much for the suggestions!
  25. I need like a sample menu that doesn't include sweets or cheese because I have no sweet tooth and I absolutely hate cheese.
