  1. oh yeah..i am reminded of a few more things ----i am a slight germ o phob--but not bad. i will NEVER EVER EVER EVER touch anything in a public bathroom with my bare hands. i have friends that know i am this way and will prepare a towel for me if they use mine. i always get the towel ready then wash my hands, grab the towel dry..turn off the faucets with the towel..use the dirty towel to grab another clean towel..then use that towel to pen the door. if not towels are available i will use my shirt or some clothing. my son is showing signs of ocd also. as i mentioned with the old nail biting. he grinds his teeth during the day..and he sucks his lips ALL OF THE TIME. he gets this huge scabby ring around his mouth that makes him look like he has impetigo. this is a nervous habit, and he doesn't do it a lot at home, but he does it at school bad. i used ot have the habit of sticking my tongue out when i was really concentrating (as a child)..well..he sucks on his lips. he has to cover his face in vaseline daily, and it helps some..but. he also is now taking an antihistimine that is helping. i noticed that someone mentioned their child doing this with their lips and having really thick cuticles. well..the same is with my son. he also has those really thick white marks on his nails (feet and hands). his doc said that he just has "bad" skin. he has rashes a lot and he is sensitive. his nail beds are bad..and the same is with his mouth.
  2. they make a nail biting nail polish. i had to put on my son when he was a child. at first he would eat right through it...but after a while it detered his biting and now he doesn't bite at all. i also started trimming them almost daily (at first there was nothing to trim)..but he hated his nails growing at all. so, it worked. he doesn't bite anymore---we used tobasco sauce, too.
  3. i have GAD, and depression. i am also slightly ocd, but not the way most people would think. i bite my mouth as mentioned, although, i have decreased doing this because i do not want to add to the wrinkles that i will get. i also cannot leave any dead skin alone..whether it is on my lips or not. i have a terrible comulsion to pick. if i have a dark freckle, or anything that is imperfect on my skin, i have this "need" to remove it. of course a scar is left, but i have been known to cut holes in my arm to remove dark freckles. i have since tried to stop this, but if one appears that was not there the day before..oh god. i used to be horrible about this. the same goes with my face. dh will come in the bathroom if i am there more than 3 minutes because he knows i am picking at my face. i will literally turn a molehill into a mountain when it comes to my face. i pick and pick and pick. this is why i honestly tell my doc's i CANNOT have acne. i cannot handle. and i have acne right now..probably from sugery. at night after i take my makeup off, i scratch everything off. i know it's gross, and it is horrible, but thank god i have good skin so far, i get compliments on my skin all of the time. i also know how to apply make up. i also have problems with hair. i will wax or use a personal trimmer on my entire face with the exception of my eyebrows (i mean, i do my brows, but i leave some). i cannot stand hair on my arms or anywhere. when the hair on my arms is there (i do not remove it regularly, only whenever it gets to where i can see it), i have to have it all lieing smooth and in the same direction. let me see, what else. oh, i have to have all of the doors surrounding me closed before i can go to sleep. i have to have the bathroom door and the closet door, and the bedroom door closed. if the closet door is open, i will have nightmare's. i have to check to make sure that every door is locked at least twice before i will go to bed. i double check that my house alarm is on, and i also double check my alarm clock. i cannot stand smells. if i smell something that i do not like, i obsess until i find it and destroy it. i've tried this with dh, but it doesn't work.... he smokes and sometimes his feet are terrible right after work. i complain a lot. i also ask him to remove his socks from the bedroom dirty clothes before i can fall asleep. oh...i carry my keys when i am in parking lots, between two fingers, so if someone attacks me i can stab them. i never walk between two cars until it is time to get in my own. i always make a reference to see if i see something under the car before i will walk between them. i constantly watch behind me when walking. if someone else is walking up, i will wait in my car until they are gone, then i will get out. i'm also compulsive at stores, i will not go through a line where the cashier is a guy if i can help it. i have waiting long lines before because of this..stupid..i know. soo..now, if all of these compulsions could be focused on cleaning my house i'd be happy. haha there are more, but that is all i care to go into at this time. when i am on my meds, i'm much better about all of them.
  4. i think it has a lot to do with genes also. my son is only 6, but as soon as he jumps up from the table, for dinner, he is asking what he can have next. it worries me, he seems to want to eat constantly. he is very very active now, hopefully he stays that way..
  5. do your doctor's tell you that you can't have anything to eat or drink 3 hours before bed? i'm curious about this, because i noticed denise said they come back up. i'm not following this rule right now as i do not have restriction, but i have the same habit of taking all of my pills right before bed. denise--how long do you wait before going to bed...3 hours is an anwful long time for me, sometimes dinner isn't even ready that long before i go to bed, then trying to take the pills too....
  6. i do not exercise either. i should have added that, and i take pain medication regularly. both are horrible on my "system". i haven't thought of prunes...and i will definately look into the benefiber.
  7. ummmm..i hate spending money that i know is ridiculously jacked up. but...i still enjoy it sometimes. i hate CLOTHES shopping because of my weight..period. when you are 5'2" and 225, with an hourglass shape, there aren't a lot of clothes out there for you. and petite's are even too long for someone with a 26 1/2 inseam..and they don't make well fitting petite fat clothes..that i have found...i have to roll up sleeves on my shirts..haha..i'll be glad when i'm a true "petite"
  8. my band doctor is not the type of guy that i would develop a crush on. i'm sure he was a looker in his time, but there is a pretty significant age difference between himself and me. Now, he is not a bad looking guy, but i prefer my strapping "youngish" man with a six pack at home..lol (although my band doctor did warn dh, that he (my doc) used to look just like dh (in build) and that his day is coming too, and then he will understand where i am coming from...THANK YOU DOC!!. i almost had tears come to my eyes however, when he was explaining stuff to me. very understanding, very compassionate man. lots of experience...and he sits down and really talks to you.. my pcp, however, there is no crush, but i feel a connection to her (thus the reason no crush). she hugs me when i come in to see her. she has shared with me her own weight loss struggle and her own history with an eating disorder and sexual abuse. she is awesome. i feel like she is a friend. although, wouldn't call her on the weekend. she gave me her cell phone number once, but got rid of it..i figure they have enough of us patients during the day..haha. plus..she has seen parts of me that no normal "friend" would ever see.
  9. ok..i've had my first fill, and i missed my 2nd fill appointment yesterday because i was ill.. ..and i have lost a total of.......(drum roll please).... BIG FAT 0 LBS. haha...hope to lose more later. i'm really not worried about it, though because i know it takes time.
  10. i have 6.5 cc's, and i feel nothing. i sure hope it kicks in with my next fill.
  11. i'm with ya!!!!...can't eat spaghetti though...well...it doesn't get stuck, but it is just hard to chew to mush.. ..add to that list..cheesburger's, steak, burritos, corn dogs, grilled cheese. and i have 6.5 cc's in my band.
  12. oh yeah..and those rapid relief gels (the red and blue ones) do not get stuck ..for me...i take them when i have a cold (tylenol that is) ..and my doc says that we can take anything that comes in a capsule.
  13. a rebound migraine is (this is not the text book definition) when you have a reoccuring migraine for long periods of time (like a week) and is usually caused from over medicating, or not treating with an effective medication. there is a huge difference though, in a headache and a migraine. i'm not sure if there are a such thing as a rebound headache, but i would think so. i will have spells of 7 or 8 days where i have debilitating migraines, and i have to continually take something...and tylenol is like candy..it does nothing for me..although i wish it did. i'm no expert, but i would think that 3 - 4 headaches a week is too often, and you may want to find out what your triggers are. this coming from someone who has them nearly daily, this is what i see in articles, and such that 3 to 4 times a week (needing to take meds) is too much. however, my migraines are mainly hormonal too. i have them terribly the week before and the week after, but while i am actually having the tom..i usually do not have them. tylenol is great if it works, but you do have to be careful of liver damage, but then again, everything causes something...right? lol ....migraines cause brain damage (or loss of brain cells), tylenol causes liver damage if not used according to instructions, and the rx meds...well..they have textbooks full of side effects.
  14. ..yeah, i should have added...although i may not have binged and ate in huge amounts, i am definately a food addict. i would go on week long binges, where the amount of food was not necessarily larger in one setting but it would be slightly larger each time for weeks, and i would want nothing but unhealthy food. so, yeah..my normal day would consists of a breakfast burrito with a route 44 coke for breakfast, some Cookies or something for a snack, for lunch i would have some sort of fast food value meal, and then i would have dinner that was something quick and easy and then before bed, i would have popcorn and maybe something else..and glasses upon glasses of sweet tea. so, now that i think about it my eating has definately changed...no more breadfast burrito's-i don't even think i could eat a whole one...and forget the soda and sweet tea... ..but lose weight i have not...
  15. i forgot to post in my reply that tylenol causes rebound migraines ----this from my pcp.
  16. i'm not a dec bandster...but i was in october. i would venture to guess that you will EASILY be able to sleep through it. hopefully your family will let you sleep. my doc told dh that i wasn't allowed to lie in bed except at night to prevent clots. so, he kept making me wake up.....miserable. it is very likely that even if you are awake you may even feel like helping cook the Cookies, but i doubt at all that you will even be tempted to eat one...no matter how good or bad  the smell.
  17. i'll chime in with everyone else here...you are not alone. i was banded 10/18, and as of yesterday, i am up to my preop weight. i missed my second fill because i was ill, so now i have a few more weeks to go. i have 6.5 cc's already, (that was my first fill), but i am yet to get stuck, pb, slime or anything. i can eat whatever i want in whatever quantity i want. i have great difficulty dieting, and i tried for a few weeks, but now, i'm just waiting for my fills and my restriction to kick in that way i will have help. there's no sense in beating myself up for something, that i feel, i have little control over. i'm hungry, i'm going to eat. so, more fills, here i come (now if my doctor's office would just have an opening somewhere in the next 3 months for fills....haha...i can't get in until my already scheduled 3rd fill. seems to me they may need to train someone else to do fills and add to their staff...fills are the most important aspect of this surgery, and what good is a surgeon if we can't get them... (by the way i love my doc..just wish they weren't so busy). so i'm rambling..but you are not alone....i'm right there with you, and appear to be doing worse, as you still have some weight loss....
  18. haha, that is too funny...lmao i know that is the truth...if it were me during that tom, i would veto EVERYTHING!!! HAHA!! j/k.
  19. how did it go??? i missed my 2nd fill appointment (sick from bowel obstruction..yeah, i know..gross right?). i'm gaining also. i haven't exercised and i cannot diet. if i could i would not have needed the band. now, i'm scheduled for my next fill in january :faint:. just what i need...to be able to eat normal through the holidays..haha..i got the band when i did to help stop that. :angry oh well. i'm going to try to get them to "fit" me in, but they are so darn busy at my doc's office, that if you miss a fill, oh well.......
  20. i don't know how my overeating compares, but a 6 inch sub pre banded and i was full. granted, 2 hours later, i was eating again. so, i'm still eating that way..now. hope it's gets better. although, i may not be able to eat a whole pizza and never could, i still overate.
  21. i'm partial to huckabee, although i may change my mind about him later.
  22. i've tried topamax and a variety of other pills for my migraines, and i have little luck. i split my pills with a pill splitter as previously mentioned. i am not well restricted, but i do not want to take a chance. you must make sure that your pills can be split, however, before you do it. i tend to take my skelaxin and cut it into eighths, and then i can take it. recently, my neuro called me in stadol, which is a nasal spray. it works, but it makes you high...so...it is a last resort, as i can't work or drive when taking it, but i can take it when in liquid phases, so whew-hew.
  23. ..very true..very true... wasa- i am not sure of a specific culprit-or i should say a specific culprit was not identified while making this post...lol...
  24. i like people who are humble, honest, empathetic, respectful, positive, and encouraging. i like people that have a light around them all of the time. it is something that i wish i had.
  25. it really does take the fun out of debate. and like you said in your other post, i love intelligent people. and i thirst for knowledge. my mom always tells me that i am "wishy washy" because i think too much. i can see each side of the story. i think that people should have a right to educate us on this forum without being drawn out to be a know it all, or hushed. and i think that people should also post in a caring & receptive way. let me clarify, i think that wasa has a wealth of knowledge, and when i post, i welcome her opinion. she is obviously very intelligent and she has done her research. this is what i support, what i do not support is other people, who perhaps are "threatened" by her opinions that start calling her names, etc. i see this a lot on here. i see someone express an opinion and someone else goes off the deep end. it's ridiculous. i also do see a lot of caring people on here, and a lot of us do not know the answers to everything, so when someone offers their opinion, even if it isn't correct, there is a nicer way to handle it. just post your opinion..you know..no need to persecute.
