  1. I highly suggest calling your surgeons office and just talking to the doc on call. It is always better to be safe than sorry. Please let the doctor make the call if this is concerning or not. Let us know how you are doing.
  2. You can do this! We all fall of the wagon sometimes. What matters is if you get back on or stay off! Give yourself a break once in a while as long as you go back to your healthy ways and stay healthy more often than not. You can do this and you have the knowledge to not stay off the wagon. Good luck!
  3. I am on 40mg of Omeprazole and have been since 4 weeks before surgery. I was told I would be on it for at least the first 6 months after surgery.
  4. I've fallen in love with PB2 also! I use it in my protein shakes mostly. I have mixed it with water and used it for my fruit too, but that is it. I am really interested in any other uses others have!
  5. I hope you get the answers you need and start to heal. Please keep us posted.
  6. I also have Cigna and was approved on the first try. I am now 5 weeks post op and all of my claims have been processed and paid. As long as you meet their guidelines and meet their requirements you shouldn't have any problems. The guidelines can be found here: https://cignaforhcp.cigna.com/public/content/pdf/coveragePolicies/medical/mm_0051_coveragepositioncriteria_bariatric_surgery.pdf The one thing that trips a lot of people up is the 3 month physician monitored weight loss program. You need to actually have 4 visits with your doc because you need the first appointment to initiate the process. Make sure the appointments are at least 31 days apart. You also have to make sure your doctor documents each of these at EVERY appointment - your weight -your current dietary program (ie: weight watchers, 1500 calorie diet, or what ever you are doing for your diet) and also -your physical activity program (ie walking 1 block twice a day 4 days a week, walking on a treadmill 20 minutes a day 5 days a week, riding your bike 3 miles a day for 6 days a week, etc) Good luck and please keep in touch!
  7. Congratulations and good luck!
  8. I am only 1 month post op and have already started working with lifting weights. I am hoping building up my muscles and toning everything up will help keep the loose skin to a minimum.
  9. Congratulations and good luck!
  10. You would not believe how fast liquid can pass through your sleeve! I had an upper GI because of heartburn 2 weeks post op and I got to watch as I swallowed the barium. I could barely make out how small my new stomach is because the liquid barium flowed through so fast, if you blinked you missed my tiny tummy. You could see my intestines really well though the radiologist was making me drink more and more barium so he could try and catch a look at all of my tummy. He started laughing after a bit and we determined my new tummy must be camera shy. Moral of the story is liquids can really flow through your stomach extremely quickly. You may not feel any restriction until you eat solids which stay in there a bit longer.
  11. Wow glad I am not alone! My Mirena has been in place for 6 years and scheduled to remove it in a few weeks. I haven't had a menstrual cycle in over 5 years and then got one 2 weeks after surgery. I am really debating about having another IUD placed (non hormonal) because I have really loved not dealing with my period for all of these years. My husband had a vasectomy a few years ago so we don't have to worry about birth control. I could go another 5-6 years without a period easily and not miss it one iota!
  12. According to my surgeon pudding is part of the full liquid diet. I would double check your surgeons protocol.
  13. I found a pair of spanx type high waisted underwear in a size too big really really helped without being too tight or uncomfortable.
  14. No way I could have. I was 10 days post op before I made it to my "hockey son's" game. He isn't my son biologically, but has been folded in as one of my kids and we go see him play as much as physically possible. Even at 10 & 11 days post op I was beyond exhausted after the travel and watching 2 games. Give yourself time to heal and you can try to catch the next game if you feel up to it.
  15. Thanks guys. I am just ignoring the craving and hoping it will go away. Eventually it will stop. I just hope it is soon!
  16. Great list! I would like to add a few things I have put on my list. Fleece lined leggings warm winter socks sport arm band for my iPhone ear buds made for running and will stay put gift certificates for local thrift stores to keep me clothed until goal personal training gift certificates work out clothes in assorted sizes new fitbit moisture wicking ankle sport socks pajamas in assorted sizes to keep me clothed as I drop weight. THat is all I have related to my sleeve. The rest re just girly gifts.
  17. I haven't had diet coke in 3 months or more, but for some odd reason I REALLY want some today. And not just a can of pop, oh no, my body wants a 32oz ice cold fountain diet coke! Yum yum. I guess I just treat this like any other craving and ignore it until it goes away. It just strikes me as odd because it is the first time I have wanted pop in a long time and it is such a strong craving. Way stronger than any other craving I have had since I started the pre op process.
  18. I take hydrocodone regularly and was swallowing the pills whole on the day of discharge from the hospital. I was given hydrocodone in liquid form while I was in the hospital. I suggest calling the surgeon's office and double check with them to see what they want you to do. Honestly, if you need pain medicine at home, it will most likely be in the first 48 hours after you get home. You can buy a pill crusher at any pharmacy to help make life a little easier to get them fully crushed. Good luck with surgery!
  19. Lol I used to run 3-5 miles a day 6 or 7 years ago at 4:30 am outside every morning before work . I physically hate running! I hate feeling my body jiggling and hate that my boobs get in the way. However, I loved the mental aspect of running. It was my quiet and alone time where nobody needed anything from me and I could mentally shut down for a while. My body slimmed down rapidly once I was running regularly and didn't have quite as much jiggle after a while. I got injured and haven't run in years and I do truly miss it. It does grow on you after a while! On another note- if you need a high compression sports bra try Enell brand. They are absolutely hideous and ugly, but your boobs Do Not move at ALL. I wear a g cup and had never found a sports bra that would keep them still. I used to wear multiple sports bras and then wrap an ace bandage around over the top just to keep them somewhat still. I just had to share that little piece of advise too.
  20. OMG there is nothing wrong with you, your surgical and recovery path, or your success! That doc needs a lesson in compassion and a few in verbal communication. You have lost the weight, successfully maintained your loss, and kept your sanity through it all. As far as bariatric Pal is concerned, it wouldn't be the same without you. Please don't let other peoples doubts affect your choices. ((((Hugs))))
