He wouldn't give me the pain or nausea medications and I was even asking 2 hours after it was due.

Most of mine were great too, but I did have one male one who wanted me to "cycle" through the pain.

Just got out of the shower which has always been my think tank and I was thinking of body measurements. Back in the day I was on the Atkins diet and lost quite a bit of weight, but before I started the diet, I measured every thing and then week after week I would take my measurements. Like every Saturday, or whatever. Back to the shower...I was wondering why the surgeons office didn't take measurements. It's been about a month since my surgery and I've lost around 20 lbs, but I think I am gonna go ahead and take my measurements. It is simple to do and it will feel good to see not only the pounds come off, but the inches as well. My question to you is did your dr take your measurements before surgery?

I believe it can also have something to do with what your insurance requires, also. I wasn't required to lose weight, but I did. I also had to do the 2 wk liquid diet to shrink the liver and I think I lost about 9 lbs at that time.

So far I haven't had this problem and I am almost a month out. I also had to lose 20 lbs of Fluid altogether for each of my hospital stays. Could be my body is playing catch up, I don't know. At this point I have been losing a pound or two per day, except during the ten days in the hospital.. I gained the fluid.

Thank you!!! I like it! I hate that I am not wearing it. I used to always have it on, well not to bed or the shower. I couldn't ask for any other ring...... It's just hard because you don't know when you will stop losing weight. Right now I lose 1-2 lbs a day. I love the ring. We were looking at diamonds for the center stone and they were costing around 7500 and I just felt like it was way too much, and then the cost of the actual ring/setting! Tanzanite is my favorite gem and I was going to have 2 tanzanites on either side of the middle stone and when we passed a tanzanite across the center of the stone I knew it's what I wanted. When he finally gave me the ring, it was a different stone. Much bigger than the one I picked!

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and IBU has been the only thing to help me with the joint pain. I stopped taking it about a month before the surgery to get used to not having it. My surgeon actually told me not right away but maybe later down the line. He probably would rather never.

I am really surprised over the people who were done as outpatient!

Have you mentioned to them that they kept the gold from sizing your ring? I am almost afraid to do anything til before my wedding. I never wear it to bed and have only worn it a couple of times since my surgery because I haven't been very well.

I would get a second opinion. There is nothing wrong with that.

The horror stories are bull? I don't know. I have been in pretty rough shape since my surgery. By day 20 p/o, I had been in the hospital a total of 10 days. Lots of issues. I don't think they are horror stories, per se, but I know that some have these horror stories.

Oh, ok. Well if that's what they want you to do, keep it up! Not everyone has difficulties. So you are right, be happy about that. Congrats!!! You are working towards the new you!

Thanks. There was another option they gave me with the speed bumps. Just a piece of metal that attaches to the ring. I have no idea what it's called but it help to size the ring. I didn't chose it before because it is visible and not as pretty. I suppose I could get the bumps bigger, but I would have to keep doing it! I know I am going to keep losing. Right now I lose 1-2 lbs a day. I am sure it will slow down at some point. Those speed bumps cost us almost a hundred bucks....

I suppose you were lucky enough to not have any issues. I was not. Def if I were you I would embrace it!! I don't think you should be using a straw because it does introduce air into the stomach. If you can only take 5 bites, to me that means your surgery worked.

I did not but what I did have was this medicine ball that was attached to me. It stayed in for 5 days.

I had been throwing up 2 weekends in a row and it is not a good thing. I ended up hospitalized and with pancreatitis. Kraft macaroni and cheese is probably not what you want to be eating, either. I guess what I would do is get back to reading labels and measuring your food according to this stage in your post op diet. I am at almost a month out and due to all of these complications, I am still on that first couple of weeks post op liquid diet. This kind of makes me think that you might be eating the amounts you used to eat in the past, maybe have not been able to let go of that behavior. Then when it is too much you have to vomit. I would try and get away from that.....

Well, I have to take a lot of medication. The medicine that got stuck was one of my Epilepsy meds. A pretty big pill. I have to cut it in half and in quarters. It felt like it was in my chest, at the bottom so I would say it was at the end of my esophagus where it meets the stomach. Because of my hernia repair, everything is very tight. This can happen with some foods too. By the time I get to the hospital it has either dissolved or it came back up. The reason I ended up going to the ER is because I had been vomiting all day and not able to keep any fluids down. Because of that, I also could not take any medicine. Given the fact that I have Epilepsy, I never want to go a day or more without my medication. By going to the ER, they can take care of it through IV. Just so happens I was admitted both times. Because of the vomiting, I did end up with Pancreatitis.

I just want to be able to wear it without the fear of losing it, ya know? He spent a pretty penny on it and if I lost it I would feel so awful. But I want to wear it!

He certainly is a keeper!!!!

Still not feeling good but trying to think of other things. My engagement. My fiance proposed to me on Easter this year. The ring fit perfectly, well a little loose because he waited three months to give it to me from the time we picked it out. After that I was still losing weight and it got loose to the point that I needed to get speed balls, if you've heard of that. Two raised balls of white gold on the inside of the ring on the bottom part of the ring. It helped pretty well, maybe even just a little tight. Since the surgery I haven't really worn it much because I just haven't felt well. I put it on today and it just falls off. We are getting married next fall and I know I am going to lose more weight between now and then. I guess at some point I am going to get it resized but I wanna wait until....much closer to the wedding. I guess I can have the speed balls made bigger for now. What did you do? Are you having the same problem? Another of my issues is my RA, sometimes my joints are inflamed and my knuckles are bigger. This is why I hate to get it much smaller.... I just don't know! I have had my medicine stuck twice and it was awful. I know what you are going through. Both times I spent all day vomiting what seemed to be an impossible amount given I hadn't had anything to eat or drink in quite a while. I would be very careful with trying to avoid throwing up. I ended up with Pancreatitis over it all.

You know, I have always been one to not have many friends. Most all of my friends have been male, and they don't seem to be that way. At any rate, I moved away from a lot of people and now I have a very small circle of friends. My best friend is my fiance and we are wonderful together, such a blessing to have him. I have another friend who I am not super close to but we seem to be closer since the surgery. I guess it has given us more in common because she has had the same surgery I have several years ago. She also gave birth on the same day as my surgery. That is her first child, so no we have being a parent in common as well. You know, I have said it in this thread before, but I am gonna say it again. Any friend that you lose to WLS was never truly a friend to begin with.
