When will I start feeling full?!?
I was hungry on the first food stages. It was hard to see people eat real food or watch food commercials. It will get better as you progress on to other food stages. Hang in there.

I just downed a medium sized bowl of fruit salad in one sitting, how is this possible?!
Of course, I am fueling for glycogen to carry me through the run. Most people don’t gain a pound a day is the difference. You seem to find it hard to believe that a type one diabetic could be carb sensitive. I will give your professional opinion to my running coach and my endocrinologist

No one is demonizing carbs. There is no such thing as NO carb diet. Low carb is instructed by many surgeons/dieticians. All plans are different. I am carb sensitive. I am a type one diabetic. My body does not process carbs or sugar correctly. I keep my carbs in the range where I lose/maintain my weight. I distance run. I carb load for seven days pre-race. It’s instant weight gain. I go back to weight loss mode to work it off.

Be gentle with yourself. You just had surgery and are healing, Chew, Eat slow stop at your signal of full. Concentrate on getting your protein goal in. Your surgery restriction will become a bit less over time. Learn your plan and the basics. Hang in there.

-To make this less confusing – I would suggest using the SLEEVE diet instructions I linked for clarification of what you CAN eat and what to avoid. There are too many variations of plans and people posting that have a different type of surgery. Keep us posted on how you are doing. You got this. Many good things coming your way.

Here is a link for diet instructions. Relying on surgery restriction alone won’t keep you successful long term. https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/422271-sleeve-surgery-instructions/?tab=comments#comment-4736323 Down load a food app - Myfitness pal or baritastic. Youtube vidieos on how to use it, You will need to know if you are hitting your weight loss calories, the amount of carbs fats and sugars you are eatting each day. Food app downloads https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.baritastic.view&hl=en_US https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfitnesspal.android

2.5 weeks what food progression are you on? Are you hitting your 60-80 grams of protein per day? Is fruit salad on your plan? If is,, How many ounces are allowed? Should you make a full meal out of fruit salad when it has no protein count???

Doubts about sleeve option
I’m five years out with the sleeve. I’m maintaining in the 130’s. I bounced back from surgery and had no complications. For me it was a great choice. This site is mainly people researching, are new and in weight loss phase, had weight gain or complications. Understand that many people that are maintaining no longer need support on this site. Read this link to see the positive stories to give you a balanced look at outcomes. https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/423992-what-you-had-no-surgery-complications/?tab=comments#comment-4758950 For newbies We are not ALL doomed to regain. There is no way for me to avoid offending the people on this site that have had regain. What I am saying is not judging them. Have compassion. There are reasons why people regain (medical issues, complications, eating disorders, pregnancy and not following plan. - Anyone who has stretched their surgery needs it diagnosed and therapy to control overeating. I would hate to see anyone stretch a second surgery. If they need a restart, I hope the second one works for them. Bottom line, the only reason any of us gain weight is eating over calories and macros.

eating whole wheat bread
If whole wheat breads are on your plan. The only way to eat "too much" is if you go over your calories and carbs for the day.

eating whole wheat bread
What is your dietitian’s carb and protein goals per day? Are you logging it in a food app to know how many carbs you eat in a day?

Post 4/17/19
Call your surgeons office to see if there is a medical reason that you can’t get fluids in and don’t feel surgery restriction. If food addiction is taking over seek counseling/therapy.

Overtraining & Stalls???? Frustrated.....
I may be the old chick in the room, But I’m still amazed at how transforming weightlifting and gaining muscles has been. I had a hard time in my first year to build muscle. It got better after my weight loss slowed down.

HUNGER MONSTER HAS RETURNED WITH A VENGEANCE
Here are a few things to try to satisfy your hunger. (Make sure any of my examples fit your plan) Log your food and stay within your calories and macros. (Myfitnesspal or baritastic) Get temptation foods out of your home Once you add real sugars and extra carbs you crave them more. They cause hunger. Detox off them. If you deprive sweet and salty cravings, you will want them more. Keep healthy options for salty and sweet cravings in your house. Salty: chicken fajitas without the tortilla, jerky, quest protein chips. Sweet: Dannon light n fit Greek yogurt, Strawberries dipped in sugar free cholate syrup, sugar free popsicles or jello. Eat dense protein sources with the other foods on your plan. Eat as much clean wonderful veggies as you want until full. Ditch protein shakes and bars. (they are god for emergencies when you can’t get to a meal) Real whole foods will keep you feeling more satisfied. I Eat five/six small meals or every two to three hours - Log keep within your calories and macros for the day*** don’t turn this into grazing over your calories. You will gain weight** Head hunger and snacking – Distract yourself, go for a walk, read a book or listen to a podcast on weight loss mental battles. Keep a veggie tray in the refrigerator. Allow yourself to snack on veggies. If you try to bargain with yourself for other options, you know its head hunger.

Foodies - honestly how bad is it?
Straight talk…Get a copy of your surgeons/directions plan and food progression for clarification. You need to know if this is something you can stick to. You have to want this enough to change. I hope you go into this with realistic expectations. Just because a few people on this site can eat anything and not gain weight does not mean that will be your personal experience. Many don’t keep the weight off long term eating what they want and relying on restriction alone. If you eat off plan and notice it slows/stops your weight loss you many need to stick to your dietician food plan. (read all the posts on regain and revision) I’m five years out. I maintain in the 130’s. I had to work for this. I followed my plan. I was consistent not perfect. I got to goal in six months ( not the norm with the sleeve) How bad is it if you enjoy food? I love food and I don’t feel deprived. I enjoy trying new recipes and ingredients. I make healthy versions of old favorites. I go to restaurants and social events. It easy to find protein and veggies and other items on my plan that keep me in weight loss mode. I also stay within my weight loss/ maintaining calories and macros. Your diet will change when you go into maintenance mode. You will be adding more carbs and can indulge within reason. Stomach issues: Most sleeves can tolerate anything without dumping syndrome (sleeve surgery intestines are not altered) Other surgeries once sugar hits the intestine they dump. Only my opinion. If you can’t control sugar and food choices, the sleeve many not be a good fit for you.
