  1. @@Lexuskela I use fat free cream cheese. Just my preference. You can also break down the recipes into bariatric portions (I use myfitness pal) it may help to see if it fits your program. Karen is a nurse and dietitian with my surgeons office. In her cooking class she keeps us up to date on health trends.Trends change all the time. Whats good for us now may not be good in a few months.( Thanks to her I know more about cooking with coconut oil than anyone should..lol ) Each of our dietitians give different instructions on healthy eating. I like her approach on eating healthy. It should nourish your body and still be flavorful. With her recipes my weight dropped, I don't feel deprived and found that I enjoy cooking. Not sure if this helped. Just my take on her cooking.
  2. @@JamieLogical I believe none of us are exempt from weight gain. I have talked to my nurse from my surgeons office. Her opinion was patients that have gained weight may feel guilt or shame and don't report back on Dr's appointments or continue support. Being isolated most will have a substantial weight gain. I know my behaviors can slip back. Sometimes I need a reality check by the senior members. I also get inspiration from people that are currently dropping weight.
  3. @@billw0917 Therapy/ counseling is a good option to deal with the mental/behavioral end of surgery. It is a good thing to prepare for stress/emotions/anxiety. I never found an "In the moment" way to deal with the stress eating issue. It was key to let go of the bad behavior and find a replacement. I hope you find what works for you.
  4. @@FinallyFit50s It's an amazing feeling to be in the best shape of your life. I never thought I would have this fitness level in my 40's. I'm so thankful for my sleeve.
  5. @@Dub Dang..Someone here is a master barbecue chef. We should enter you into a BBQ cooking competition. Summer has been great for outdoor cooking. I'm going to miss it in the winter. I give it up people that BBQ year round...Too cold for me.
  6. My first solid that I loved was BBQ Salmon, steamed broccoli with white cheddar cheese.
  7. @@Dub Love your swagger...Bring on Slim Shady!
  8. @@CowgirlJane I think its personal perspective about the body type chart. For me its not a self judgment scale. Its a bone structure that I was surprised to find under all my weight. I'm not offended by anyone's bone structure or family genetics. I do like @@OKCPirate perspective on how the media sells their version of attractive. Oh yes. It is the reason of body image issues.
  9. @@Susan66 Might be a good Idea to get actual fact's and statistics...Third party information is not that reliable. Also always a good idea to take what you read on the internet with caution. Below is one that I googled just to give you an idea of information. ASMBS say's 30-day mortality rate for sleeve gastrectomy was 0.08 percent, https://asmbs.org/resources/studies-weigh-in-on-safety-and-effectiveness-of-newer-bariatric-and-metabolic-surgery-procedure
  10. I try to keep myself busy by going for a walk or cleaning house. Changing old habits to new ones comes with time. Grazing food is still a temptation for me. The mental changes are tough but soooo worth it. Keep going..you got this!
  11. @@bgriffin86 Keep pushing forward. Your sleeve will take time to get used to a new life. Getting your Protein and Water intake in is what you are working on at this point. Its a bit difficult at first. It will get better.
  12. How far out from surgery are you? @@confusedgirl18
  13. @@Djmohr I'm trying to embrace my loose skin, flat butt and the almost missing Boobs. I think @@Babbs took my boobs from me.
  14. @@4MRB4PHOTO So wrong..But so right... I could be wrong...I see most of the guy's as an inverted triangle. Broad shoulders and narrow hips. god love you men!
  15. @@Debbieduck4 I'm with you. No hips no butt. At my age I knew I would have no booty.
  16. @@pink dahlia I held most of my weight in my mid section. I'm not sure if my tummy will go away without plastics. I have no hips no butt. Hourglass is what I thought I would find.
  17. It seems to be our bone structure. I just never knew what mine was..lol
  18. @@jess9395 You have been through it all...too funny
  19. @@OKCPirate Love your perspective. The media kills me selling us their version of attractive. That also includes the guy's.
  20. @@AngryViking I'm wearing low rise jeans. I just don't have the curvy hips to fill out other jeans.
  21. After being an apple shape for a long time. I was surprised to find out I am a inverted triangle body type.
  22. @@elizabethkl Easy life lessons : I will forever stay connected to support to keep myself on track. Exercise and staying active is my new replacement for stress emotional eating. Hardest to follow: Keeping my old behaviors from slipping back. (making the excuse I'm at goal so I can eat extra calories even if they are healthy choices. Waking up in the middle of the night and heading to the refrigerator.) I'm working on getting used to my new self. Its finally getting easier further out from surgery.
  23. @@LoosingIt67 I have a question regarding soups. Not just liquid, but with some meat and veggies in it. Are we never allowed to consume soup again because it's considered liquid with solids? Check with your dietitians instructions or call them. Soups are fine with my program.
  24. Her white bean chili is amazing. Great dish for fall and football season.
  25. @@Lexuskela Next to her recipes she notes things like omit rice...I love her cooking class. Its like food network but only better. We get to sample what she makes. Having a sleeve her samples are a full meal for me that night.
