  2. Surgery 5/7/14 (3 weeks) Weighed myself this morning. Lost 7.5 lbs this week. 23 lbs since surgery. All is well. Tough eating enough Protein and tough drinking enough Water. Suggestions for drinking all that water (100 oz.) are solicited. Also, for you golfers out there, when did/could you get back to playing???? Thanks!

  6. Surgery was 5/7/14. Things are going well. Scars healing, no pain. Got on the scale for the second time today. Weight down 7 lbs in the past week (total of 16 since surgery). No hunger. Almost have to remember to eat and drink. Ah, drinking, unless I consciously think about it, it is difficult to drink the 100 oz of Water a day. But we press on.

  12. I had surgery 5/7/14. 2 day hospital stay. Since then I have been on a liquid diet. Supposed to take 100 oz of water daily (a challenge). Been following the doc's instruction to a T. Finally got on a scale today. Lost 9 lbs. since surgery. It works if you drink the Kool-Aid (figuratively) and follow the instructions.

  14. For reference, would you folks describe your portion sizes?
  15. Day 6 post surgery. Feel great. Drinking as much as I can. Protein shakes as directed. Things are going well, I think. I have not gotten on a scale yet. Will only do that once a week. That will be tomorrow.

  17. I, too, am 5 days out. I, too, wanted the sleeve, but the Dr. told me that I would have much better results with the bypass. I went to him because I trusted him and the fact that he had performed over 6,000 procedures. Well, I hired him for his expertise, so why not follow his advice? I did and had the bypass last Wednesday. I feel great. Soreness, but no pain. I feel as if there is an area of liquid or something on my left side. Dr. says its Fluid and will go away. Hope so. He also recommended the bypass because I had diabetes. My sugar reading for the first couple days were 168, 136, 121, 111, 100, 89 and lastly 68. He says I'm on the way to no diabetes. Having difficulty taking in all the Water, but am trying. So far, I am happy and we'll see how it goes. Haven't gotten a a scale yet. Maybe Wednesday --> 1 week.
  18. Surgery was Wednesday. Recovery (so far) has been up eventful. Very little pain. It is a challenge to get 100 oz of fluids in, but you deal with it. My only note is that the upper left part of my stomach has swollen with to the size of half a baseball. Doc wasn't concerned but I didn't ask how long before it subsides. PS...remember Rule no. 3 for life after 50: Never, ever, trust a fart!
