  1. Does this look familiar?
  2. Wow! I can't believe all of the things listed here. What memories it all brings back. Those charm necklaces - I searched for them on ebay, you can buy a necklace and 13 charms for about $50.00 now. Do any of you remember all the wierd different color earrings we use to wear, that matched out outfits? Or how about the big pocketbooks with the big sequins on them? And.....my curling iron had burnt hair spray on it from me trying to make "big hair". I have a pic I want to send you guys, how do I insert it into a message?
  3. I was banded 10/1/07 and to date I'm down around 80 pounds. I haven't been into my doc's office since 4/1, which at that fill I had officially lost 74 pounds and the fill itself put me at my sweet spot (for 4 weeks anyway). I cancelled my appointment for 4/29 because I was still tight. I go back in on 5/22, possibly for an unfill to go on vacation cause I want to be bad!
  4. I guess all doctors are different. Mine put in 1.5 cc to "prime" the band.
  5. I don't know Dr. Kurian, but if she's working with Drs. Ren and Fielding, she's got to be good. I wanted Dr. Fielding, but his first appointment was 2 months away. So I got an appointment with Dr. Ren. She's a wonderful doctor, but I honestly wanted Dr. Fielding because he's got the band too.
  6. I eat wendy's chili all the time and I always have them add cheese and I crumble up a package or 2 of crackers into it.
  7. I eat cashews all the time!! They are my favorite.
  8. Trust me, the worst part of this whole lap banding thing is the 2 week pre-op diet. I got through it, along with many other people. So it's not impossible. Heck, I even managed to lose 22 pounds on my pre-op diet! It does get better, I promise!
  9. I'm going on vacation May 24th and I'm going in to get a slight unfill 2 days before I leave and then going to get refilled the day after I get home. Reason being, right now I am so frustrated because I am SO TIGHT. I've been eating very tiny amounts and getting stuck - even on liquid. I feel like this, it's my band, it's my body and I'll do what I want. It's not that I'm slacking, I've lost 84 pounds in the past 7 months. I want to be able to eat things that I can't eat right now, chicken, steak, ribs. My diet is always soft food because I can't keep anything else down. My surgeon's husband, who has the lap band, says that it is ok to do this once in a while. One time he took all his fluid out, went away for 2 weeks, gained 16 pounds, came home, filled back up and lost all the weight.
  10. OMG 10 cc in a 14 cc band and you're just getting restriction?? I have around 9 and most times I feel like I'm being strangled from the inside.
  11. I would DEFINITELY NOT do it. Your doctor put you on a pre-op diet for a reason. Is a bowl of soup worth the risk of screwing up your surgery?
  12. Since I was banded, when I get sick my band gets VERY tight, so I don't eat. I just drink a few slim fasts a day until I loosen up. I prefer the chocolate!
  13. I went from a size 10 shoe to a 9 1/2. I need to go shopping for new sneakers again because my new pair are starting to get loose on me now!
  14. Has anybody hit their sweet spot yet? I have just around 9 cc in my 14 cc band. Since my last fill, I have had such good restriction, I'm almost never hungry, and my portions are so tiny, it's amazing how I'm surviving. I've learned that I must chew my food until it is nothing but liquid and I've learned that I have to take smaller than baby bites. The consequence is it coming back up. It's a wierd feeling, given the fact that we were taught to never miss a meal and to clean our plates. There have been some days where I only ate 1 meal and I never clean my plate anymore.
  15. I was having problems, but then I started eating salad every day with lunch and it helped tremendously.
  16. Thank you. I wouldn't have been able to do it without Chantix. That stuff is a Godsend! There are still times when I really want one, but it's so easy now to fight it off. I try to keep myself out of situations where the craving for one might occur, like talking to my exhusband.....
  17. I think Sharon had hers removed because she hit her goal weight, and also because she had colon cancer.
  18. My doctor told me that the nicotine can corrode the port and the band, because it sticks to it and eventually everything would need to be replaced, and insurance wouldn't cover replacement. My doctor scared the life out of me, I quit 1 month after banding and haven't smoked in 4 1/2 months. And I feel AMAZING.
  19. I've lost 70 pounds and a few people have asked me if I lost "some" weight. I say some??? I lost a small person!!!
  20. I'm down 70 pounds. I've been going to the gym 3-4 times per week. I haven't lost anything since my last fill (3-6-08) which is making me somewhat nervous, but I know it's because all of the junk I've been eating (and craving).
  21. We waited until I was about 3 weeks out before doing anything and then we just took it slow. Now, after losing 70 pounds, OH MY GOD sex is amazing! I am so much more flexible and can get into such crazy positions!!! He says that he felt the port a few times, but only when we hug very tight. He said he feels like a bump in me.
  22. I eat california rolls with no problem. Only time I have a problem is if the rice is really mushy, it works better for me when the rice is firmer.
  23. A lot of insurance companies require it. Fortunately, mine didn't.
  24. My appointment with the nutritionist was about 4 weeks after my psychologist appointment. And then my appointment with Dr. Ren was another 2 weeks later. And surgery was 4 weeks after that.
  25. Dr. Ren is my surgeon. I had my banding done 10/1/07. To date I've lost 71 pounds. The whole team is amazing!
