No red tape. I used Dr. Guillermo Alvarez (www.endobariatric.com) and have had a great experience! I started my pre-op diet 4/27 and was sleeved 5/19. As of this morning I'm down 30.4 lbs and feel great! No complications at all, I haven't even thrown up once. You stay at a hotel in Eagle Pass, TX the night before & then the shuttle picks you up & takes you to the hospital the next morning. Literally only a few blocks over the border! I would recommend Dr. Alvarez to anyone.

The first vsg was performed in 1999, so there wouldn't be 20 or 30 year studies for this specific surgery, per se.

May 19th...and not loving the liquid diet! Protein shakes, juice, skim milk, 1 can fat free cream soup daily, broth

I won't miss people seeing my size 2 sister and saying "you have the same mom AND the same dad?" I won't miss having a closet crammed full of clothes I've outgrown. I won't miss dreading any day over 80 degrees.

Oh my gosh. It's like you all know all my deepest darkest most painful thoughts! It means the world to me to know that we are all in the same process of never having to feel these awful feelings again. Best of luck to all of us.
